Bank robbery suspect identified
Updated: 07.20.09

3009bank_robbery_update_ca.jpg

Kenneth Lloyd Adams

Kenneth Lloyd Adams, 29, of Cleveland, has been identified as the main suspect in a July 3 bank robbery in Shepherd.

According to San Jacinto County Criminal District Attorney Bill Burnett, officers investigating the robbery of First State Bank of Shepherd recovered clothing and identification at an overgrown lot in Cleveland last Monday.

“In the shorts was a wallet with [Adams’] driver’s license and a business card from his parole officer,” said Burnett.

Burnett stated that the officers found a shirt and a pair of shorts that they believe may belong to Ada
ms or one of the other bank robbery suspects.

Shoes were also recovered and the shoe print appears to match the one taken from the bank, according to Burnett.

“We recovered it from a chair that he used to jump over a counter to get to the bank tellers,” said Burnett. “Another way that we have been able to identify him is that he identified himself to Jay Estes of Peoples State Bank. He left there, apparently was uncomfortable and went directly from there to First State Bank.”

Burnett added that “a very astute bank teller” at Peoples State Bank wrote down the license plate number of the alleged getaway car when she became concerned about the man’s behavior.

The DA’s office also has photos taken from surveillance cameras at Peoples State Bank that show the man at Peoples State Bank wearing the same clothing as the alleged robber.

Not long after the robbery, Cleveland Warrant Officer Zack Harkness also stated that police received a tip that the alleged suspect m
ay have been hiding in a hotel or motel in the Cleveland area.

“I checked every hotel in Cleveland and some in Liberty County and didn’t find him,” said Harkness.

An arrest has not been made at this time. Authorities are still investigating.

Burnett urges people to use caution if they know the whereabouts of Adams.

“Do not approach him yourself. Consider him armed and dangerous,” said Burnett.

Mpls. Police Search For Shotgun Robbers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ―One jig is behind bars and three more are on the loose after a brazen armed robbery Tuesday at a bank in South Minneapolis. Police are concerned the robbers are becoming more violent and hope to catch them before they become involved in a shootout.

A clerk was assaulted during the robbery involving four armed men at the US Bank at 4930 34th Ave. S.

Police believe the same robbers have stuck up the bank twice before, along with several convenience stores.

One of the victims was Burham Shire who operates a convenience store and deli at 25th St. and Chicago. Shire's store was robbed by a team of two men armed with a shotgun a couple weeks ago.

"It was kind of scary. It is n
ot a good position somebody holding a gun to your head, you know," said Shire.

Shire was relieved to hear police arrested Curtis Devone Williams Tuesday night and are on the trail of three other suspects. Williams was caught after an alert witness wrote down a license plate on a car seen leaving the bank, said Lt. Fossum.

"It is about time. Let them pay the price," Shire said.

Minneapolis Lieutenant Mike Fossum said the robbers are members of the Bloods street gang and have become increasing bold and violent.

They often use shotguns and other long guns during the robberies. He said their style seemed like a scene right out of the movie "Heat."

"The suspects burst into the bank, waving guns and telling everybody to get down and jumping on the counter," said Fossum.

Fossum hopes the robbers are caught before anyone is seriously injured.

Second armed robbery at bank near East Greenville

A Wachovia Bank branch in Montgomery County was robbed Friday for the second time in about three months . There are similarities between the two robberies at the Wachovia Bank at 628 Gravel Pike in Upper Hanover Township.
