Violent Night Rocks City

UPDATED: 10:28 am EST February 10, 2008

PHILADELPHIA -- Gunfire claimed one life and sent two people to area hospitals in Philadelphia overnight.

Police are investigating three separate shootings, one involving an officer, starting around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

The latest shooting happened about 4 a.m. in Northern Liberties, police said. It started with an argument in a pizza parlor and ended outside with a man being shot four times.

When police arrived, they found the victim unconscious on the street. Witnesses said the victim tried to get into a passing car after being shot, but the driver sped away.

The man's condition was unknown and police did not have a description of the shooter.

Police said one of their officers shot a man in North Philadelphia on East Willard Street just after midnight. They did not release any details about what led to the shooting, but said the man did survive.

At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police found a body on the side of the road in the city's Strawberry Mansion section. The man had been shot several times.

His death marked Philadelphia's 32nd homicide of 2008.

Police Release 'Crime Book' Of Wanted Violent Felons
Police Commissioner Also Talks Public Safety With Local Colleges

POSTED: 4:37 pm EST February 8, 2008
UPDATED: 5:01 pm EST February 8, 2008

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia police are ready to "throw the book" at some of the city's most wanted criminals.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey and Mayor Michael Nutter joined forces at police headquarters to make the announcement.

The city is issuing a "crime book." It's a listing of 150 people wanted for serious crimes, such as murder and rape. (The Philly Daily News won't print the mugshots because over 140 of them are groids.)

"We want all Philadelphians to know who these individuals are, the crimes they've committed, why they're making this city, the condition that it's in. If you have information please call 911," Nutter said.

You don't have to buy the book. Click here to see the document posted online at the police department's Web site so you can learn more about some of the most dangerous criminals in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia's top cop was also taking aim at crime and the city's colleges.

On Friday at the University of Pennsylvania, Ramsey visited the campus to meet with the University City Public Safety Group. That's a group of public safety officials, representing Philadelphia colleges and the city.

Ramsey outlined the city's new crime-fighting plan.

A key finding is that 65 percent of the most serious crimes happen in just nine of the city's 23 police districts.

His death marked Philadelphia's 32nd homicide of 2008.
That's only .8 niggers dying per day, and down 15.79% from last year. Kind of disappointing.
I realize, it's the middle of winter, but I fully expect you Philthy groids to step it up come spring!

Re: Philly's Homicide Count Hits 384

No fricking crap, your Philly niggers are doing their usual half-assed job of killing themselves to expectations, Bobster. Something needs to be done.

Re: Philly's Homicide Count Hits 384

It's been damned cold here recently. I suspect the rate will perk right up as soon as we get the slightest hint of spring. You can't keep that TNB bottled up forever. In the meantime, the groids will assault their fambly members.

5 Slain Within 10 Hours In Violent Philadelphia Night

POSTED: 6:32 am EST February 21, 2008
UPDATED: 12:22 pm EST February 21, 2008

Philadelphia homicide detectives were investigating five new cases that emerged in the last day after city violence exploded.

The homicides occurred within a 10-hour window.

In Southwest Philadelphia, a man was fatally shot in the neck near 35th Street and Haverford Avenue. He died early Thursday morning.

Police identified the victim as Ronald Saunders, 20, of the 3300 block of Haverfod Avenue.

At about the same time, investigators said a 19-year-old man was shot on the 1600 block of South 23rd Street in South Philadelphia.

Police said Kenneth Henderson, who lived just blocks from the shooting scene, died soon after the shooting.

Police said they have no suspect or motives in the two Thursday morning slayings.

Wednesday night, three people were slain within a 3-hour period.

Detectives said a 36-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in her Frankford apartment, located at Frankford Avenue and Filmore Street. Police said Michelle Hicks ran down the street, collapsed and died after the stabbing.

Hicks' boyfriend was taken into custody.

In West Philadelphia, another woman died of stab wounds after she was slashed in what appears to be a domestic homicide.

Detectives identified Josephine Faust as the victim. They wanted to talk to Faust's boyfriend in connection to the stabbing.

In Mount Airy, police said a shot man was found dead inside his car, which was parked on the 7800 block of Temple Road.

Police identified the victim as Marvin Hutson, 21, of the 7200 block of Limekiln Pike. Police said they did not have any suspects.

The slayings bring the number of city homicides to 41 in 2008.

I saw a robin the other day which always tells me spring is in the air; in Philly, one need only look for corpses piling up in the gutters, dumpsters, and alleyways. A sure sign of spring, hibernating jigs waking up and starting to forage, fight and fornicate.

Yeah, dead niggers are starting to pop up everywhere.

Witnesses Won't Come Forward Following Shooting Near Day Care
Targets Of Shooting Not Talking, Police Say

POSTED: 5:22 pm EST March 4, 2008
UPDATED: 9:20 pm EST March 4, 2008

Day care operators in Philadelphia's Olney neighborhood met with parents about a shooting that occurred outside the facility Monday.

Eight or 10 shots were fired outside of the day care center and one bullet shattered a window.

Philadelphia police said Tuesday that they have a better idea of what happened but witnesses aren't talking.

On Tuesday, residents and the day care operators condemned the violence and outlined plans to take back the community.

"I'm mortified to find danger so close to my residence," Talmeedah Greer, an Olney resident, said.

Greer said she wasn't at home Monday when police said as many as 10 gunshots were fired outside her house. Investigators said one bullet hit a column near her door.

Police sources told NBC 10 that two gunmen shot at two males and one female while they were standing across the street at American and Calvert streets. When one of them ran toward 2nd Street, the unidentified shooters continued firing.

One bullet hit a house and another wounded Linda Tep in the hand. A third bullet shattered the glass of the day care center while children were napping.

"I've lived here almost 20 years and it's a nightmare day by day," Tep said.

Kathryn Bryant, of Your Child's World, said it was a miracle that nobody at the day care was hurt.

Investigators said even those allegedly fired upon aren't identifying the shooters. The lack of police corroboration has angered residents and merchants.

"It's a moral obligation as a member of the community to look at it as we're all in danger if you don't come forward and you know info that could help the authorities bring this to justice," Greer said.

Your Child's World plans to re-open Wednesday and is also organizing an anti-violence rally for March 17.

"We're standing strong because we want to take back the community. We don't want individuals to come here and take our children's safety away," Linda Burden, of Your Child's World, said.

The day care center hosted a parent's meeting Tuesday night to outline new safety procedures. They were also making plans for a "Take Back the Neighborhood Circle of Prayer" event and launching a fundraiser to replace the center's windows with bulletproof glass.

A deadly day spoils city's quiet weekend

Five were killed and at least eight hurt in violence yesterday.
The toll includes Phila.'s 100th homicide victim

What began as a quiet weekend took a violent turn yesterday as five people were killed, including the city's 101th homicide victim of the year, and at least eight others were shot in numerous assaults.

Police said a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot in the chest and an 18-year-old man was seriously wounded in the chest shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday at Amber and Cambria Streets in the city's Frankford section.

The two were taken to Temple University Hospital, where the 15-year-old was later pronounced dead and the 18-year-old was listed in critical condition. Their names were not released last night, pending notification of family.

Homicide detectives said they had not determined the motive for the attack but suspect it was a driveby shooting.

"This weekend was going well until Sunday," said Lt. Frank Vanore, a police spokesman.

By this date last year, the city had recorded 130 homicides.

Earlier yesterday, a 50-year-old man was found shot in the back at 1:30 p.m. in the vestibule of the West Park Apartments in the 300 block of North Busti Street in West Philadelphia, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Three other men were killed before dawn after the city reported no shootings or homicides on Friday and Saturday.

Police yesterday charged Nicole Wilson, 26, with murder after she was found at 4:02 a.m. beating and kicking a prone man at a Sunoco station at 5017 N. Broad St. in Logan. The man in his 60s, who was not identified, died about an hour later at Albert Einstein Medical Center of blunt-force head trauma.

Wilson, of the 5400 block of North Warnock Street, has previous convictions in assault and theft cases. Vanore said she was involved in "some kind of argument" with the victim.

Police stumbled upon the beating as the Logan neighborhood was swarming with detectives investigating a double shooting that had occurred about two hours earlier at a tavern about 100 yards away, on the other side of the intersection of Broad Street and Windrim Avenue.

About 1:45 a.m., a gunman opened fire inside Charley B's Bar & Grill, a jazz club at 4948 N. Broad St. in Logan, Homicide Sgt. Charles Coan said.

Marcus Davis, 37, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at Einstein. A 28-year-old man, who stumbled about a block from the bar with a gunshot wound to the back, was taken to Einstein, where he was in stable condition yesterday.

It was unclear what triggered the shooting, which happened while music was playing at the club, Coan said. Yesterday afternoon, detectives were still examining the bar, owned by noted jazz saxophonist Charles Bowen.

No arrests were made, Vanore said, but police were following several leads.

In another killing, police said they found the body of Tyrone Miller, 44, at 2:48 a.m. on the 6800 block of Limekiln Pike in West Oak Lane. He had been shot three times, in the face and chest, police said. There were no witnesses.

At least eight other people were shot early yesterday, including a dramatic South Philadelphia case in which a witness tackled and disarmed a man accused of shooting four patrons near a South Philadelphia bar.

Police charged David DiPrimio, 24, of the 2600 block of South 11th Street, with aggravated assault after they say he shot four men ranging in age from 22 to 25 near Third and Snyder around 2 a.m.

Vanore said the four men had been asked to leave McDaniel's Bar on Second Street near Snyder Avenue after engaging in "an argument over a common female love interest." He said that DiPrimio followed the men down the block before confronting them.

A 25-year-old man who was shot several times in the chest and a 24-year-old man who suffered abdominal wounds were taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where they remained in critical condition last night. Two 22-year-olds, who suffered less serious gunshot wounds, were taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment and released.

A witness chased down the gunman and disarmed and subdued him at Fourth Street and Snyder Avenue until police arrived and arrested DiPrimio.

In another incident around closing time, a 24-year-old man was shot nine times in the legs and arms about 1:43 a.m. outside the Last Call Tavern, 7400 Frankford Ave., in Upper Holmesburg. He was taken to Frankford Torresdale Hospital.

At 1:20 p.m. yesterday, detectives arrested Derrick Whitfield, 23, at home in the 4500 block of Aberdale Road and charged him with attempted murder and firearms violations.
