ORLANDO, Fla. -- A teenage boy crashed a stolen vehicle into an Orlando home, throwing a retired Orange County school bus driver out of bed, police said.

Orlando police said 14-year-old Kenneth Anderson abandoned the stolen SUV after he slammed it into a home on Cottage Hill Road Sunday afternoon. He had been fleeing from police when he sped through a stop sign and collided with the structure.

The daughter of 91-year-old Benjamin Henson said her father was resting in th

"The car hit the wall, the wall came into his bedroom, pushed his bed up against the chest of drawers and the dresser, and, yeah, the fire department had to come get him out," Ida Henson said.

Anderson had no criminal history, but he is now charged with several felonies, including grand theft, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and resisting arrest. Police said they are talking to Anderson to determine if he is linked to other stolen car cases in the area.

Sylvester Police make arrest in cold case

Aubiao Brantley

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - An arrest in a shocking South Georgia cold case. Nearly four years after a hit and run driver ran down a Sylvester woman on West Railroad Street, Sylvester Police arrest a 36-year old man for the crime.

Donna Frier suffered in a hospital for six months before she died from her injuries.

Investigators say you, the WALB News Ten's viewers, and good Police work helped them finally make an arrest. They say a story we aired in May brought several tips from people in the community, and led to Wednesday night's arrest.

[COLO
R="Red"]37 year old Donna Frier[/COLOR] was struck by a car October 24, 2005 while walking along West Railroad Street at night, and was dragged nearly 40 feet under the car. Frier spent more than six months in the hospital before dying May 5, 2006.

Wednesday 36 year old Aubiao Brantley was indicted by the Grand Jury and arrested, Police say after almost four years of thinking he got away with it.

Sylvester Police Chief Alfred Anderson said "I think he was surprised. I think he was totally surprised."

Sylvester Police Chief Alfred Anderson and Lead Investigator Sgt. Nathaniel Newton opened the cold case when they joined the force and learned about it from Frier's sister, Betty Jackson, who also works at the Sylvester Police Department.

Newton said "Well I first started out nobody wanted to say anything."

In May WALB ran a story about their investigation, with the Police asking for information....and they say a number of people responded.

Newton
said "A lot of names came up. So I talked to a lot of people. I kept on and kept on them, and they started talking little by little."

Jackson said Brantley and her sister went to school together and were friends. She says his arrest will help them deal with the tragedy.

Jackson said "Yes it will, because we always wondered what happened. And who could have done such a thing. To hit her and leave her beside the road to die."

Brantley is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping with bodily injury, and serious bodily injury by vehicle.

Even though Investigators think that Brantley hit Frier on purpose, because she died six months after the crash, Prosecutors did not seek homicide charges.

Brantley is being held without bond in the Worth County Jail.

A reward was offered in this case. Chief Anderson says if Brantley is convicted that reward will be handed out.

Koleh B. Wilson

A man convicted of running over another man with his car four years ago is going back to prison after new charges led to his extended supervision being revoked, according to court records released Monday.

Koleh B. Wilson — who is also one of 20 people charged with participating in an extensive cocaine distribution ring — was sentenced Friday to the maximum two years in prison, as well as a year in jail for a slew of unrelated offenses. Wilson, 31, 4403 Primrose Court, Apt. M104, was also convicted of second-offense drunken
driving, felony cocaine possession with intent to deliver and two counts each of misdemeanor violating a domestic abuse injunction and felony bail jumping.

The prison sentence came on a charge of felony reckless driving causing great bodily harm. Wilson originally received three months in jail in the case, but he was sentenced to 18 months in prison in July 2008 after his probation was revoked.

Police say Wilson ran over Robert Piggee, now 31, in November 2005 as Piggee walked on a sidewalk shortly after the two argued over a woman at a local tavern. Wilson drove over Piggee — breaking his thighbone, wrist and nose — after Piggee punched through the driver’s side window of Wilson’s car.

Wilson has a pending charge of conspiracy to distribute more than 40 grams of cocaine as part of a drug ring investigators say brought more than $600,000 of cocaine from Chicago to Sheboygan over the last two years.

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) - A man claims he was swatting at a spider before striking a pedestrian in the Highland Creek sub-division early Wednesday morning, but police are trying to determine if he was actually impaired by drugs.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Clarke Creek Parkway and Millstream Ridge Drive just before 7 a.m.

Police say Morreen Stewart, 58, was walking on Clarke Creek Parkway when she was struck from behind by a car a
nd ended up breaking the windshield glass. She was walking next to the curb and not on the sidewalk, police said.

According to police, the driver, 19-year-old Keith Johnson Jr. said he hadn't slept in two days. He said he was distracted after swatting at a spider which fell into his lap which caused him to swerve and hit the woman.

Johnson stopped his car and saw the woman on the ground near the curb. He claims he ran to the woman and spoke with her briefly.

Several witnesses told police that when Johnson heard the sirens approaching, he ran back to his car and threw drug paraphernalia, including a marijuana grinder and digital scales, into the nearby roadside shrubs. A Concord K-9 unit found the items tossed in the bushes.

The passengers walked away from the car briefly, police said, but they returned before law cops arrived at the scene. The two passengers were not charged, police said.

Stewart suffered serious head and spinal injurie
s. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast and was listed in serious condition
Thursday morning.

Police took a blood sample from the driver to determine if there were any impairing substances in his system. He admitted to smoking a marijuana blunt seven hours before the crash, police said. He was cited for drug paraphernalia and police said other charges relating to the crash may be filed.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - On Dec. 18, 2008, four people were killed when a teen driving a stolen vehicle crashed into a tree. Now new information is emerging on what would have been the birthday of the youngest victim, Marc Claybrooks.
r

The latest court records show that on December 18, 2008, the road was wet and it was dark when the stolen Honda 17-year-old Herbert Lee was allegedly driving reached speeds of 77 miles per hour.

Police say they were chasing the car because it was registered as stolen. Lee lost control and crashed into a tree and fence near First and Hill. The force of the impact ripped the car and killed all four passengers: brothers Marc, Demar, and Jamar Claybrooks, along with their friend, Aaron Shields.

Police say Lee had been asked to give the boys a ride by a member from a group called Youth Alive.

The accident report also states that no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.

On Sept. 17, nearly a year later, the youngest victim, Marc, would have been celebrating his 15th birthday.

"It's my son's birthday," said Marc's father Marc Hampton. "He would have been 15 today. None of us could ever imagine being in this situation wher
e this is where we were celebrating any of the children's birthday."

Family and friends visited the boys' memorial at PRP High School where they were students to wish Marc a Happy Birthday.

"We miss them," Hampton said. "We miss them dearly. There's no other way to put it. Every day we miss them."

Lee was in court on Marc's 15th birthday. Although Lee is only 17 years old, he is being tried as an adult on charges that include four counts of murder.

Newly filed toxicology reports show that Lee was not intoxicated.

Judge Mitch Perry confirmed a trial date of May 10, 2010. The victims' families says they hope the trial allows justice to be served.

"Herbert Lee owes all of us," Hampton said. "He owes us graduations, proms. He owes us a future."

Summit teen sentenced to 10 years in jail for killing pregnant girlfriend in car accident
by Julie O'Connor/The Star-Ledger
Friday September 18, 2009, 1:41 PM

large_rodney-jefferson-summit-sentencing.JPG

Rodney Jefferson, 19, Summit, receives 10 years in state prison at his sentencing before Superior Court Judge Stuart Peim in Elizabeth today.

SUMMIT -- A teenage driver was given a 10-year jail sentence today for a crash in Summit last year that killed his pregnant girlfriend after broadsiding a tree on a residential street at nearly 90 mph.

Rodney Jefferson, 19, of Summit, had been driving with a revoked license. He was charged with vehicular homicide but pleaded guilty in July to aggravated m
anslaughter as part of a deal with Union County prosecutors and will likely serve his sentence in a youth correctional facility.

The 6-foot-4, lean teenager, who fled the scene and was only slightly hurt in the accident, wiped his eyes, his mother sobbing from the gallery, as the parents of 19-year-old Julia Ghiretti stood to face him in an Elizabeth courtroom.

In a steady voice, Mary Ghiretti told Superior Court Judge Stuart Peim how she and her husband, both "very private people," cannot find the words to describe how it felt to lose the daughter they waited for two years to adopt from El Salvador at age 6 -- or forgive the boyfriend who was speeding from police.

"I didn't want him to say he was sorry, because I don't believe he is," Ghiretti said of Jefferson. "I didn't want to hear him say he loved Julia, because he didn't... Obviously, he didn't feel she was worth his getting into trouble with the police."

Jefferson rose to haltingly tel
l the judge he did love Julia Ghiretti. "I can't explain how I feel every day when I know she won't be there," he said slowly. "I know saying sorry won't bring her back, but I really am sorry."

He had been driving his girlfriend's car after having his license revoked for a conviction on driving while intoxicated. He and Ghiretti, who grew up in nearby New Providence, had been living together in a Summit apartment.

Jefferson was at the wheel on November 2, 2008, a Sunday afternoon, because Ghiretti was feeling sick, according to defense attorney Leslie Sinemus. Sinemus said her client made an immature decision to speed after spotting a police officer who had stopped him for a previous incident.

The black Acura spun out of control near an intersection, then traveled sideways across several lawns before slamming into the tree on the passenger side, investigators said. The police officer arrived to discover the crash scene on Ashland Road and Jefferson running away. The officer ca
ught up to arrest him.

Ghiretti was airlifted to Morristown Memorial Hospital, where she died of massive injuries five hours later.

While Julia Ghiretti was barely over 5 feet tall, she showed a self-confident flair on the basketball and volleyball courts, dance floor and in her sense of style, said her father, John. She had been attending Union County Vocational School with hopes of attaining a cosmetology license.

"She lost her focus on her dream when she met Rodney Jefferson," he said today. "Julia liked to believe she was street-smart, but in truth, she was naive." (Too effing right!)

Jefferson's mother, Evelyn, told the court her son made a terrible choice but was devoted to Julia and had planned to join the military to better care for her and their unborn child. "It was always about Julia," Evelyn Jefferson said. "We all loved her."

In imposing his sentence, the judge said Jefferson made a "conscious choice" to speed behind
the wheel.

"There's no doubt in my mind that as Mr. Jefferson sits here, he's sorry for what happened," Peim said. "But there was a death, and the defendant was responsible."
