Looters wanted for smashing up Brooklyn AT&T store, stealing phones
By Amanda Woods
June 12, 2020 | 12:12pm | Updated

A crew of looters smashed their way into a Brooklyn AT&T store — and then returned a short time later to grab more phones, police said Friday, as they released surveillance video of the burglary.

The suspects first struck the store on Metropolitan Avenue near Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg at around 2:25 a.m. June 1, using a sledgehammer to break the front door glass, cops said.

Once inside, the crew rifled through cardboard boxes and fled with armloads of phones, the footage shows.

Sometime between 11 that night and 4 a.m. the next day, they returned, this time smashing a glass window with a fire hydrant cap to get inside, cops said.

On both occasions, they left the store with multiple phones, according to police.

They were still on the loose Friday.

HANOVER, MD. (WJZ) — Two people were arrested Monday for allegedly stealing numerous vehicles from the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport rental car facility.

MDTA Police detectives charged 26-year-old Shakierra D. Scott and 31-year-old Travis J. Scott, both of the 2200 block of Round Road in Baltimore City, in connection with thefts of 28 rental cars between May and July 2019.

The vehicles were worth more than $660,000 in total, police said.

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA) — Two men have been arrested in connection with the looting of a T-Mobile store in San Bernardino during recent protests.

Siante Lockridge, 28, and Anthony Flewellen, 36
, both of San Bernardino, are in custody on burglary charges.

Police say the store’s glass door was broken down on May 31 by unknown suspects, and high-value cell phones and other electronic devices worth more than $8,000 were taken. One of those items happened to be an iPhone 11 box, which contained a tracking device. While the store was being looted, two people first tried a gun, then household tools to force entry into an inventory room, where surveillance cameras caught images of two men.

The day after the store was looted, a T-Mobile employee reported to the San Bernardino police that one of the phones was being tracked to a home in the 3700 block of RidgeLine Drive. The homeowner gave investigators one phone that was verified to be among the items stolen from T-Mobile store, but employees told police the tracking device continued to ping from the home.

NYPD video shows looters making off with $1.5M in clothing from SoHo shop

Police have released surveillance footage showing these fashion-conscious looters making off with $1.5 million in clothing from the high-end Soho store Celine.

The video captured at least six still-at-large looters grabbing pricey merchandise at the store — where blouses go for $1,700 — at about 11 p.m. on May 31, according to police.

Celine was one of many luxury Soho shops devastated by looting that took place as demonstrators took to the streets of Manhattan to protest the May 25 Minneapolis police-involved death of George Floyd.

The morning after the police-released surveillance footage was shot, a Post reporter witnessed a man with a seemingly empty backpack stroll into Celine through a broken glass window.

“Is there anything left?” the man said before heading inside at 6:45 a.m. as three of his pals waited outside.

After several minutes, he fled on foot from the high-end clothing store after apparently filling his bag. His friends followed behind him.

In total, the Wooster Street store lost a total of $1,511,000 worth of merchandise, police said.

Anyone with information in regard to the identities of any of these individuals is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Man flashes handgun to steal a single beverage from Bronx deli: cops
By Sara Dorn
August 8, 2020 | 9:08am

He must have been really thirsty.

A man flashed a gun at a Bronx deli clerk to steal a drink, police said.

The not-so-friendly encounter at the Bronx Friend and Family Deli was caught on surveillance video, which shows a man pulling a silver handgun from his waistband and approaching the cash register early Friday morning.

A bottled beverage — what appears to beer or root beer — sits on the counter of the West 170th Street store as the gunman gestures to the cashier, according to the footage.

Apparently the worker was able to placate him, as the gunman put the weapon back in his pants and appeared to calm down before the video cuts off.

The man demanded the beverage for free while threatening the cashier, then ran off with the drink, according to police.

He is wanted for questioning in connection with the incident and was last spotted wearing a Champion sports apparel brand fanny pack and navy blue do-rag.

Brazen Thief Drove Car Into Home Depot
Customers scattered as woman pulled off 9 AM heist at retailer

UGUST 18--Usually, when someone decides to drive their car into a Home Depot for some thieving, they have the good sense to do it when the retailer is closed.

Not Gwendolyn Braswell.

The 42-year-old Alabama woman, cops say, was behind the wheel of a Pontiac Sunfire that drove into a Home Depot
Friday morning. The bizarre incident was recorded by surveillance cameras inside the store in Trussville, a Birmingham suburb.

Police today identified Braswell as the suspect in the August 14 theft, and asked the public for help in determining her whereabouts. Braswell is facing multiple charges, including burglary, criminal mischief, and theft.

Cops believe that Braswell (seen at right) had first staged merchandise in the store before returning in the 2000 Pontiac to pick up the goods (a leaf blower and a dehumidifier) around 9 AM.

After backing in through the store’s front sliding doors--which were clipped by the Pontiac--Braswell navigated her way down an aisle, but not before plowing into a display and scattering customers.

Investigators connected Braswell to the brazen heist thanks to witnesses who took down the Pontiac’s license plate and recorded video. Cops say Braswell used the vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Braswell’s rap sheet includes a burglary conviction and a late-May arrest for possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The drug case is pending.

VIDEO: Suspect pretends to help man who died on GRTC bus — then robs him

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police said a 20-year-old is wanted for robbing a man who suffered a medical emergency while riding a GRTC bus last week.

Police said they responded to a report of a person down on a GRTC bus on Thursday, September 10 near N. 1st Street and E. Federal Street. When they arrived they found a man unresponsive and not breathing. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to authorities, everyone aboard the bus except the driver and the suspect, 20-year-old Damontea Chappell, exited the bus after the 911 call.

“The suspect acted as though he wanted to stay on and help the victim,” Richmond Police said. “The suspect then checks the victim’s pockets and steals cash from the victim’s wallet.”

GRTC Spokeswoman Carrie Rose Pace told 8News the bus driver followed protocol — he hit the emergency button to initiate an emergency response and parked the bus. The driver then evacuated the bus and continued emergency communications.

“One of the “helpers” (the suspect) offers to remain with the victim so he isn’t alone while the Operator steps off the bus to continue emergency communications. Operator believes the victim won’t be on the bus alone and leaves the suspect with the victim, believing the suspect is acting humanely to stay with the victim.”
Carrie Rose Pace, GRTC Director of Communications

Rose Pace said after reviewing security footage of the incident they saw that the suspect had lied and robbed the victim.

Chappell is wanted for petit larceny.

A pack of thieves has spent the last eight days roaming Manhattan and breaking into restaurants, bars and dry cleaners — stealing thousands of dollars in cash and clothing, the NYPD said Wednesday.

Cops released surveillance photos of seven males believed to be in their teens to twenties who have allegedly been committing the burglaries by breaking through the businesses’ front doors. The crimes occurred between Monday, Sept. 14 and Tuesday, Sept. 22.

“While inside, the individuals removed assorted amounts of currency from the cash registers totaling approximately $10,000,” cops said. “In addition, they removed assorted clothing valued at approximately $5,000 and caused $5,000 in property damage.”

While most of the jobs netted only a few hundred dollars at a time, the crew struck gold at a Midtown dry cleaner.

The burglars grabbed about $6,000 in clothing, including Moncler jackets and Etro sweaters, which can both cost thousands of dollars apiece, at King Garment Care on Sixth Avenue, a police source said. They only got $200 from the register at The Happiest Hour bar on 10th Street in the West Village, the source said.

Surveillance photographs of the crooks were obtained from an incident that occurred around 4 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, at Green Apple Cleaners at 119 Greenwich Ave.

Anyone with information regarding the crimes is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
