New Jersey High School Teacher Accused of Stalking Student for 2 Years

Published Aug 22, 2019 at 7:08 AM

Morris County prosecutors say an investigation found that Mount Olive High School teacher Tajinder Tung stalked a student from 2017 to May 2019 and "committed acts that constituted a course of alarming conduct" at the school and outside school grounds.

Officials did not go into details about what constituted "alarming conduct" but the math teacher was charged with stalking, harassment and a petty disorderly persons offense.

Tung will be held at the Morris County Correctional Facility following a detention hearing, prosecutors said.

It wasn't immediately clear if Tung had a legal representative.

The clergyman — who police say may have been operating under the alias “Rolando Oriano” as he ran a church at 2101 Creston Ave. — was teaching the youngster piano at a Bronx apartment when he kissed her on the mouth and face, according to police, who said the man is not accused of a crime and simply wanted for questioning.

The girl cried out for help to a family member who was in another room, and the family reported the encounter to police.

Police have a name for the pastor, but believe it is bogus, according to sources, who said he is believed to head the church.

The NYPD released a photo of the pastor on Thursday.

Times Square Elmo busted for groping 14-year-old tourist: police
By Tamar Lapin and Joe Marino
September 8, 2019 | 8:33pm | Updated

A perv dressed as Elmo grabbed a 14-year-old girl’s buttocks after she approached him for a photo in Times Square, police said Sunday.

Inocente Andrade-Pacheco, 54, was cuffed around 6:45 p.m. Saturday for allegedly groping the teenage tourist on Broadway near West 46th Street as she posed for the picture with him and her parents.

The costumed creeper was charged with forcible touching and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

He was released on his own recognizance at his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court Sunday night.

Prosecutors had asked for $7,500 in bail. They said multiple witnesses saw the miscreant Muppet grope the girl. Andrade-Pacheco denied grabbing her through his legal aid attorney. :Anti-Z:

The lawyer argued that his client — who lives in Passaic, NJ., with his wife and child — has strong ties to his community and no prior convictions.

A depraved New Jersey substitute teacher charged with having sex with a 14-year-old pupil was busted when her own children had a heated confrontation with her about the long-running abuse, according to a criminal complaint

Jersey City teacher Elyes Castillo, 45, allegedly had sex with the student over a 15-month period — not telling him she had a venereal disease, according to the documents.

Her own children, aged 13 and 14, had a fiery confrontation with her last month because they were disgusted by “her relationship with a minor,” the complaint says.

The showdown was so bad, the children’s father called the child protection services, claiming Castillo had abused them during the altercation — sparking the police investigation into the sex claims, the report says.

The alleged victim was interviewed and told investigators he met Castillo when he was in sixth grade in 2018 and that they were in a relationship and “would make love,” the complaint says.

The teen said they performed numerous sex acts during “multiple occasions” at Castillo’s home in Pavonia Avenue, Jersey City, the papers state.

The charges say the abuse began in June 2018 and went on until last month.

Castillo was arrested without incident on Aug. 29 and charged with a slew of charges, including aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said.

She was also charged with having sex while she had a venereal disease — herpes — without the informed consent of the alleged victim, the charge documents say.

Castillo hung her head to hide her face when she appeared for a detention hearing Thursday, according to NJ.com. The court was told that Castillo had confessed and faces 10 to 20 years in prison if convicted, according to the report.

Prosecutors had wanted her detained, but Judge Paul DePascale ordered her released, barring her from having contact with any juveniles apart from her own children, according to the report.

NYPD special victims detective accused of sexually abusing 11-year-old girl
By Tina Moore and Joe Marino
September 28, 2019 | 1:57am | Updated

A detective who worked monitoring sex offenders for the NYPD Special Victims Division was arrested Friday for allegedly groping and trying to kiss an 11-year-old girl in Brooklyn, The Post has learned.

Juan Jimenez, 37, attacked a girl he’d hired to work as a babysitter in their Crown Heights apartment building, sources alleged.

Jimenez was ordered released without bail after a hurried arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court late Friday. Prosecutors had asked that he be held on $50,000 bail.

Court-assigned law enforcement then ushered him away from a Post photographer and out a back door.

Ironically, Jimenez worked for the Sex Offender Monitoring Unit; he was assigned to the criminal court building at 100 Centre St. in Manhattan, sources said.

He has been charged with felony sex abuse and misdemeanor forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child.

“Defendant grabbed [the girl] about the waist with defendant’s hands, attempted to kiss informant about the mouth and grabbed informant’s buttocks with informant’s hands,” a criminal complaint alleges.

Ex-student sues Brooklyn Friends School, claiming she was raped by janitor
By Gabrielle Fonrouge

Amala Muhammed Redd, who attended Brooklyn Friends School between 1979 and 1990, is suing the school. Gabriella Bass

The prestigious Brooklyn Friends School is facing a lawsuit from a former student who claims she was repeatedly raped by a janitor — and officials swept it under the rug.

Amala Muhammed Redd, who’s now 47 and attended the school between 1979 and 1990, filed the suit in Kings County Supreme Court Thursday under the recently passed Child Victims Act, which changes the statute of limitations for child sex crimes.

Redd alleges a school janitor, named in court papers as Jesus Flores, used to take her out of class when she was in the second and third grade, bring her to a closet, and repeatedly sexually abuse her.

“He was brazen, he would come into my classroom and tell my teacher I had a phone call or that I was needed downstairs,” Redd told The Post.

“I was instructed by him to wait in a sports closet on the top floor of the school next to the gym and that’s where I would wait for him to accost me.”

The independent Quaker school, which has locations all over the country and bases their curriculum on the Religious Society of Friends, counts Malia and Sasha Obama, Vera Wang, Chelsea Clinton and Bill Nye as some of its notable nationwide alumni.

Redd said the alleged abuse at the school — where tuition now runs upwards of $45,000 a year — included kissing, oral sex and rape that left her in “excruciating pain.”

“It’s like if your daughter was hit by a car one day she would be broken and in need of help and long term care and that’s what happened to me but my scars weren’t visible,” Redd said as she wiped tears from her eyes.

Soon Redd’s teacher caught on to the janitor’s visits, thought they were strange and put a stop to them — but then failed to alert anyone else in the school about what was going on, Redd alleged.

That’s when the janitor allegedly began targeting the child while she was in gym class — telling her to just leave on her own and wait for him in the closet.

“I was instructed to go and I felt I had to go, I felt like he had authority,” Redd explained, adding her gym teacher never intervened.

“It was happening right outside, less than two and a half feet away from the door to the gym,” the woman said.

Redd, who is now a real estate agent in Manhattan, said she used to bite her lips until they bled and would bang her head against the wall in a desperate attempt to signal to someone else something was wrong.

“[I tried] to look like I was bruised so that I didn’t have to go to the gym and he couldn’t get me,” Redd sobbed.

It never worked.

Finally, an after school teacher caught the janitor in the act and he was removed from the school, the suit claims.

Redd said it was the last time she ever saw the man but it was also the last time any direct action was taken to remedy her abuse.

Both the school and the NYPD never conducted an independent investigation and the janitor was never prosecuted, Redd alleged. Flores could not immediately be reached for comment.

“No one ever called this man to task. He was never arrested. And I don’t understand how you could just let it go. I couldn’t let it go,” Redd fumed.

“It feels like it was filed away and it isn’t fair because I can’t express to you the kind of pain that I have suffered in relation to this,” Redd continued with fresh sobs.

Worse, when Redd went back to the school years later to demand answers for what she experienced, staff told her they suspected something was wrong but they never investigated further.

“I just wish that they had taken a stronger position,” Redd said.

The native New Yorker, who grew up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn and now lives in Manhattan, said the alleged trauma made her feel as if she was “carrying around a bag of bricks with you everyday” that led to a reckless and unhealthy lifestyle — one she’s only recently gotten past with the help of therapy.

“I would wake up with fists, I would wake up crying, it was like I was crying in my sleep,” Redd explained.

“Even today, you know waking up this morning, I woke up like that,” she continued.

“It just doesn’t go away.”

Redd has decided to sue the school so many years later because she wanted her voice to finally be heard — and said she wanted to give a voice to other young girls who might be in a similar situation.

“My platform in doing this is for the little girls who are experiencing it now or the 20-year-olds who went through something like this to know that there is a remedy for them,” Redd explained.

“I want for that person to be heard as well. No one should have to carry this, no one.”

The Manhattanite has hired a team of lawyers from the Zalkin Law Firm and the Barasch McGarry Salzman & Penson firm to sue the Friends School for their alleged complicity in her abuse — an act her lawyers called “inexcusable.”

“When you have a child that’s in the third grade… that’s being taken out of a classroom by a custodian or janitor, repeatedly, and whatever the excuse is, it’s gotta raise a red flag,” said Irwin Zalkin, who’s represented a slew of sex abuse survivors, many who suffered at the hands of the Catholic Church and the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

“One of the things we hear in these cases, when the abuse occurred back in the 60s or 70s, ‘well we just didn’t know then what we know now, we weren’t as alert to these red flags then as we are now.’ And to that I say that’s nonsense,” Zalkin railed.

“It’s unforgivable. I don’t think there’s any excuse for it.”

Crissy Cáceres, the head of Brooklyn Friends School, said in a statement they “acknowledge the seriousness of the allegations as reported by the media.”

“We have not yet received the lawsuit, and thus, are unaware of its details. Once we have more details, we will of course review this matter with the urgent attention it requires,” Cáceres wrote in the statement.

Zalkin said Redd’s complaint makes it clear that the school was more concerned with protecting their image than protecting the children they were entrusted to watch over.

“The institutions have a tendency to want to protect their brand over the safety of children and they don’t want their reputation marred by these types of” cases, Zalkin said.

“Until they start to understand the need to protect these kids and the well-being of these kids is more important than their brand, we’re going to have this problem.”

Queens taekwondo instructor charged with raping his 12-year-old student

A Queens taekwondo instructor was arrested for sexually assaulting and raping one of his 12-year-old students, officials announced Wednesday.

Hector Quinchi, 36, allegedly “engaged in sexual conduct” with the young girl during lessons at Hugo’s Taekwondo studio in Sunnyside for nearly two months beginning on Aug. 15, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.

Last Saturday, Quinchi allegedly raped the teen, the DA said.

“The parents of this youngster trusted the defendant to teach the girl how to defend herself,” Queens Acting District Attorney John Ryan said in a statement.

“Sadly, the preteen needed protection from the karate instructor.”

Quinchi was charged with first-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

A Manhattan karate instructor pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually abusing four young girls and possessing a trove of child porn documenting the sick acts.

Hector Bencosme copped to five counts of use of a child in a sexual performance and four counts of sexual abuse in exchange for 10 years in prison as part of a plea deal struck in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Prosecutors say that Bencosme, 58, preyed on students as young as 10 years old inside his basement studio on Post Avenue in Inwood.

He told his victims that he needed to evaluate their bodies then groped and massaged them and photographed them topless, according to court papers.

“As a martial arts instructor, this defendant used his unfettered access to children to manipulate and abuse them,” said Manhattan DA Cy Vance Jr. in a statement. “Even more disturbing, however, is the pattern of abuse; he continued to exploit students 17 years after his conviction for virtually the same crime.”

He was convicted in 2001 of a similar crime involving a teen student in the same facility. He was out on bail at the time and fled to his native Dominican Republic before sentencing. The plea deal also covers the two-decades-old case.

Police: Man Arrested After Slashing 14-Year-Old Girl At Dorney Park
By CBS3 Staff
October 23, 2019 at 4:00 pm

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (CBS) — A man has been arrested after police say he slashed a teenage girl at Dorney Park last weekend. The incident happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. at the amusement park in Allentown on Saturday.

Police say 18-year-old Jorge Ortero, of Allentown, cut a 14-year-old girl on the top of her hand with a sharp object, leaving the victim with a large laceration.

The victim was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital’s Allentown Campus, where she required medical treatment.

According to South Whitehall police, Ortero fled the scene after the alleged assault but was followed and detained by a patron of the park until security and police responded.

The good Samaritan was bitten on the hand and shoulder by Ortero during their altercation, police say.

Ortero is facing aggravated and simple assault charges.

A controversial nonprofit group bailed out a creep who was allegedly caught on camera abusing a 3-year-old boy in Queens — freeing him to get busted again in the groping of an 8-year-old girl, The Post has learned.

The Bronx Freedom Fund posted $2,000 bail for Luis Olivo, 63, following his Oct. 19 arrest over an incident in a Woodhaven laundromat where he was sitting in front of a table spread with candy, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

Surveillance video allegedly shows Olivo — whose last known address was an Ozone Park homeless shelter — talking to a 3-year-old boy and passing a balloon back and forth before grabbing the tot’s head and shoving it into his crotch.

He was set free on Nov. 4, then got busted again on Sunday for allegedly molesting an 8-year-old girl inside the Unique Shopping Mall in Jamaica.

An eyewitness told cops that he saw Olivo stick his hand under the girl’s skirt and grope her, according to court papers.

The girl also said that Olivo took her hand and put it on his crotch under his jacket “so that no one would see” and “repeatedly tried to kiss her,” according to court papers.

The mother of the little boy in the laundromat broke down in tears on Wednesday when The Post told her about the disturbing turn of events.

“My baby is only three, maybe he’ll forget. But the 8-year-old will always remember what happened to her,” she said.

Current and former NYPD cops also blasted the Bronx Freedom Fund for its role in the situation.

“When are groups like the Freedom Fund going to start worrying about the victims?” a Queens detective said.

“Because of their actions, a little girl and her family have been victimized and traumatized unnecessarily.”

A retired supervisor of sex-crimes investigations also called the situation “horrible.”

“These liberal groups have no idea how traumatic sex crimes are to the victims, especially young children,” the ex-cop said.

“They talk about giving criminals second chances. Well, these two children won’t get a second chance.”

Olivo represents the latest bail snafu by the Bronx Freedom Fund, which The Post exclusively revealed was behind the $1,000 bail that freed Randy Santos in August following his arrest in the groping of a 19-year-old homeless shelter worker.

Santos allegedly went on to bludgeon five homeless men sleeping on the sidewalks of Chinatown in October, killing four of them.

The group also posted $1,000 bail to free Lynneke Burris a week before he raped a 23-year-old teacher in The Bronx in 2018.

Meanwhile, records show that Olivo was also busted in a 2012 incident in which authorities said he put an 8-year-old girl’s hand “on top of his pants and against his erect penis” while giving her a free, sidewalk blood-pressure test with her granny in Woodhaven.

Although he was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, Olivo plea-bargained to endangering the welfare of a child and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years’ probation.

The move kept him from having to register as a sex offender because of endangering the welfare of a child isn’t considered a sex crime under state law.

It’s unclear if the Bronx Freedom Fund was aware of that case before bailing out Olivo.

Neither the organization nor Olivo’s defense lawyer returned requests for comment.

A filthy-minded Bronx school custodian was arrested for asking two teenage girls if he could watch them make out, police sources said Tuesday.

Pastor Heras was collared on Monday just before midnight for allegedly asking the two Walton High School students —15 and 17 — if he they would kiss in front of him, sources said.

The 54-year-old janitor then offered to take the girls on Dec. 3 to a secluded area in the school where they could fool around — as long as he could watch, according to sources.

The girls reported the incident to the school, who then notified the police.

NYC soccer coach allegedly recorded sexual abuse of teen boys and girls
By Ben Feuerherd
December 18, 2019 | 12:20am | Updated

A Queens soccer coach allegedly sexually abused four teens — three boys and one girl — last year, and recorded some of the abuse on video, according to the borough’s district attorney’s office.

The suspect, 23-year-old Harrison Torres, started the abuse when he brought a teenage girl to his home in Woodhaven and raped her sometime between July and Oct. 2018, acting Queens District Attorney John Ryan said in a statement.

Torres then brought a boy to his home later that year and sexually abused him, the statement said. He allegedly recorded both instances.

In November 2018, Torres allegedly shoved a 13-year-old boy against a wall at a high school and groped him while the two were visiting the American Eagle Soccer Academy.

He then also asked a 14-year-old boy to send him images of his private parts in exchange for cash, according to the charges.

He also sent the boy videos of himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, the DA said.

“This case is every parents’ nightmare – a coach gains their trust and then betrays them in the most vile ways to feed his own sick, sexual desires,” DA John Ryan said in a statement.

Torres was awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court Tuesday evening. He faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors: Man Drove From New York To Cape May County To Sexually Assault Underage Girl He Met Online
December 19, 2019 at 8:33 am

CAPE MAY COUNTY, N.J. (CBS) — Federal prosecutors say a New York City traveled to southern New Jersey to sexually assault an underage girl he met online. Richard Gabriel Piedra Ordonez is charged with transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and traveling for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct.

It wasn’t known Thursday if the 35-year-old Queens resident has retained an attorney.

Prosecutors say Piedra began chatting with the girl in May using various social media and messaging programs. They say he eventually traveled to Cape May County to have sex with the teen, who is under 16, and also drove the girl to his home and engaged in criminal sexual activity with her.

Piedra faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a possible life term if convicted.

DOVER, Del. (CBS) — Dover police say an undocumented immigrant wanted for raping a 6-year-old girl has been arrested in South Carolina. Police say 34-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez was taken into custody on Thursday.

The FBI contacted Dover police and the U.S. Marshal’s First State Fugitive Task Force on New Year’s Eve after receiving a tip that Hernandez was in Beaufort County.

Hernandez, who is not a legal resident of the United States, had been wanted for second-degree rape of a minor since October 2018.

Hernandez is accused of raping a then 6-year-old girl in March 2011. Police learned of the allegations after the victim disclosed the incident to a school therapist.

After authorities conducted a forensic interview and reviewed other evidence, detectives obtained a warrant for second-degree rape for Hernandez.

Police say Hernandez’s location was unknown for some time and that it was possible he returned to Mexico.

Hernandez is currently awaiting extradition to Delaware.

Muslim religious leader in Texas charged with sex crimes against four children
By Joshua Rhett Miller
January 7, 2020 | 1:36pm | Updated January 7, 2020 | 3:30pm

mohamed-omar-ali-01.jpg

A well-known Islamic religious leader in Texas has been busted for sexually assaulting four children — though authorities believe he’s victimized others.

Mohamed Omar Ali, a 59-year-old Somali national, was arrested Friday on charges of sexual assault of a child and sexual indecency of a child after an investigation was launched in September, Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls told reporters at a press conference Monday.

Nehls described Ali as a popular “religious leader” who spent time at several mosques in Fort Bend County, as well as in greater Houston. Investigators believe Ali also victimized other children dating back to 2013 after he arrived in the US.

“We do know that there are other victims out there,” Nehls said. “And it is our plea today to those victims to please reach out to us so we can conduct further investigation.”

Ali met his alleged victims through their parents, who invited him into their homes and paid him to teach their children the Quran, Detective Michael Alexander said.

All of Ali’s purported victims were juveniles at the time of the alleged abuse, according to Alexander, who declined to specify whether they were boys or girls.

Shariq Abdul Ghani — who runs the Minaret Foundation, a group designed to increase the “civic engagement” of Muslims — said Ali was not employed by any mosque in Fort Bend County but traveled to various places of worship and schools in the area.

“He would visit different homes and teach Quran,” Ghani told reporters. “Essentially, we’d call him a freelancer. He was looked at as a religious leader possibly by his victims. But as far as the Muslim community, he was unknown to us.”

But Ali’s “fluent understanding” of the Quran and his grasp of the Arabic language made him an ideal teacher, Ghani said.

Ghani later told the Houston Chronicle that Muslim leaders in Houston did not know Ali. The president of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston said Ali was not a volunteer or an employee at any of its facilities, the newspaper reported.

Ali remained jailed on $125,000 bond but had an immigration detainer placed on him for living in the US illegally, Nehls said.

“He’s not going to be released from custody,” the sheriff said.

GLEN MILLS, Pa. (CBS) — A safety warning is being issued to parents from a Delaware County school district following a report of a man trying to lure a 12-year-old girl. Police say the incident happened on Rebeccas Lane, near Thornton Road, around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Concord Township.

Police, parents and bus drivers in the Garnet Valley School District are keeping their eyes peeled after a man tried to lure a Garnet Valley Middle School student moments after she walked off her school bus. The incident hits too close to home to Superintendent Dr. Marc Bertrando.

“As a father myself with a middle school student, you just can’t imagine this happening to your daughter,” Bertrando said.

State troopers say the man first showed the 12-year-old girl a sexually explicit video on his phone and then asked the victim if she would engage in sexual acts with him. Instead, she ran home.

“She did the right thing,” Pennsylvania State Trooper Jessica Tobin said. “She didn’t go with that male that tried to abduct her.”

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or Asian man in his mid to late 40s, with short black hair, baseball cap and beard. He was driving a white or cream-colored sedan. The vehicle’s make or model is not known.

Parents want the man caught.

“He’s a horrible man and shouldn’t be on the streets,” Laura Bader said.

“Turn yourself in because there’s a lot of people right now looking for you, know what your car looks like, know what you look like,” Bertrando said.

Garnet Valley school officials also want parents to remind their kids it’s never OK to talk with strangers and to never get into a car they’re not familiar with.

Anyone with information about his incident can contact police at 484-840-1000.
