Video Released and $10K Reward Offered After Rifles, Ammunition Stolen in Riverside Gun Store Break-In

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $10,000 reward after three men broke into a gun store in Riverside and stole two rifles and some ammunition last month, police said Wednesday.

The burglary at Bullseye Sports, located in the Magnolia Center neighborhood, happened shortly before 6 a.m. on Sept. 26, according to police. It was captured on surveillance footage released by police on Wednesday.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to arrests of those who stole the guns. That includes $5,000 from ATF officials and another $5,000 from the National Sports Shooting Foundation, a trade group.

Such rewards are part of a larger national effort that tackles firearm thefts from federally licensed retailers, police said.

On the morning of the break-in, authorities believe three suspects parked just outside the front of the store before one of them used a crowbar to pry open the front door.

Surveillance video released by police shows the man pulling at the bar before he break the door open and runs inside with two other men dressed in all black, with their heads covered.

Once inside the store, the burglars stole two M1 Carbine rifles along with ammunition and some loose change from the cash register, according to police. The amount of cash taken was not disclosed by police.

In the video, they are seen running in before one of them starts to smash open a glass case with some sort of large object and removing what appears to be two large firearms.

The men run in other areas of the store and rummage through items before leaving, with two of the men running ahead.

The burglars fled the scene in two vehicles they had arrived in — a silver, 4-door Mercedes sedan and a black, 4-door Mercedes SUV, according to police.

The first of the three suspects is described by police as a black man who is around 25- to 35-years-old, stands about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs around 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants with a black beanie and black shoes with white soles, according to police. He had a moustache and possibly a goatee.

The second suspect is described by police as a black man in his 30s who has facial hair and stands about 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs around 165 pounds.

Police said he had a shiny earring in his left ear, shoulder length dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a black Dickies jacket with white writing on the left breast, black pants, black shoes and a black skull cap.

The last suspect was a black man described by police as "light-skinned" who stands about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs roughly 200 pounds. Police said he was last seen wearing black glasses and a gray shirt with a blue long-sleeved shirt underneath, black pants, black shoes and a black beanie cap.

A modern-day Goldilocks busted into a couple’s New Jersey home while they were away on vacation — sleeping in their bed, gobbling their food and watching their DVDs before taking off in their car.

Dirk "Kinkylocks" McCalla, 29, originally from the Bronx but now homeless, made himself quite cozy in the couple’s house on Eagle Street in Cresskill this week, local police told NorthJersey.com.

The unsuspecting pair returned home Tuesday to find their bathroom, bedroom and kitchen in total disarray, CBS New York reported.

“He used a lot of spice, a lot of hot pepper, and the fan was on,” resident Hee Song told the outlet. “I have a Playstation, he played with my Playstation game. He used our computer to see the DVD movies.”

The couple forgot to leave their alarm system on, but Song’s husband, Byung Song, said he believed the intruder was playing around with the system, and got scared off.

“He fool around, pray alound with button, then internal noise,” Byung Song told CBS. “And then he scared, then he just run away driving with my car.”

East Rutherford cops arrested him after someone reported that the was driving around in the family’s SUV, and going from house to house ringing doorbells.

It was unclear how long the vagrant was in the home — but whatever the duration, it was long enough to leave a lasting impression.

“There [were] some difficulties standing in close proximity of him,” cops told the station, adding that McCalla’s “sanitary condition” was a problem.

The couple doesn’t plan to return home until the whole place gets a deep cleaning. :p

“So bad, disgusting,” Hee Song told CBS. “We concerned for our health and we don’t know what kind of condition he is.”

McCalla was charged with trespassing, burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, Sgt. Jason Lanzilotti of the Cresskill Police Department told NorthJersey.com.

A man accused of stealing a child’s wheelchair and walking aid to sell for scrap is now in custody.

Tony Whitehead, 43
, was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail Tuesday.

Investigators say the wheelchair, a custom-built walker and other items were stolen from the front porch of the 10-year-old boy’s home on the 3600 block of Rice Mine Road in October. The child has a disability and the loss of the equipment has “placed a burden on the family," according to an earlier news release from the sheriff’s office. Since the theft, a Coaling couple donated a wheelchair to the boy and his family.

The items were believed to have been stolen on Oct. 10 from the porch of the family’s mobile home. Sheriff’s authorities in late October identified Tony Whitehead as the man seen in surveillance videos.

The TCSO said investigators believe the wheelchair and walker were sold at a scrapyard for $30 but would cost around $500 to replace.

A drunken 25-year-old guy left an East Village bar and hopped into a car thinking it was his waiting Uber — only to be robbed by the driver, police and law-enforcement sources said Tuesday.

The victim told cops he got into the vehicle around 3:30 a.m. Nov. 11 on East Houston Street near First Avenue, thinking it was the Uber he had ordered, police said.

The Madison, NJ, man sat in the front passenger seat of the car as the driver played along, acting as if he worked for Uber and asking the victim if he could borrow his Apple iPhone 6 so he could use the GPS, cops said.

The victim handed over his cell phone — and never got it back, police said. Unbeknownst to the victim — who told police he had been drinking — the driver also stole his wallet, which contained credit and debit cards.

It was unclear where the victim had requested to be taken or where he was actually dropped off.

The driver later racked up $650 in charges on the stolen cards at a North Bergen, NJ, Walmart, police said.

Cops provided a photo of the suspect during his shopping spree and described him as being in his late 20s with a medium build. Cops could not immediately give a description of the car he was driving.

Food deliverymen are being robbed for their electric bikes
By Stephanie Pagones
November 28, 2018 | 1:14pm

electric-bike-robberies.jpg

Food deliverymen in Manhattan have been targeted for their electric bikes in a month-long string of attacks, police said.

Police released surveillance footage of two thieves who violently robbed six deliverymen in separate incidents that started on Oct. 21, cops said.

Most recently, on Nov. 21, the duo struck twice in just over an hour, police said.

Around 7:15 p.m., they approached a 20-year-old man on West 18th Street near Seventh Avenue and shoved him to the ground, while one of the thieves flashed a knife. They snagged his e-bike and rode off.

Then, at about 8:25 p.m. that same day, they struck again — this time about a mile-and-a-half away on Bowery near Stanton Street. There, they punched a 32-year-old delivery worker in the face and took his bike.

The duo also made off with e-bikes — and in one case, even food — on Nov. 18 and 20, cops said.

The crooks were successful in all but one bike-theft attempt — when they approached a 36-year-old man at knifepoint on Oct. 30 in front of 56 St. Marks Place.

They punched the victim in the face and tried to pry the wheels away from him — but ran off with only the deliveryman’s wallet when he put up a fight.

In addition to the video, cops provided photos of the two suspects, whom they described as being about 20 to 25 years old and 5-foot-8 to 6-foot-1.
