MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Memphis Police are looking for a man that is behind a string of armed robberies in three Mid-South T-Mobile stores and need your help tracking him down.

The most recent store out of the three to get robbed was the T-Mobile at 1498 Union Avenue in Midtown.

The suspect is believed to be in his 20's. His face was caught on surveillance video only one time on March 13th inside a Bartlett T-Mobile. He was not wearing a mask.

Months later on October 14th, police say they believe the same man entered the T-Mobile at 1425 Germantown Parkway armed with a gun. This time he wore a mask.

Investigators say he forced employees to load dozens of smart phones into trash bags before he stole one of the workers' vehicles and escaped.

Police say the same man struck again on Sunday, October 27th, at the T-Mobile in the 1400 block of Union Avenue.

Surveillance video caught pictures of the white trash bags he used to haul off the stolen phones.

He then tried stealing an employee's vehicle in this case too, but when his getaway plan didn't work he ran off instead.

Armed man makes a fashion faux pas by Paul Cameron
Vid at link

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
An armed man makes a fashion faux pas which may lead to his arrest.

It was just after 6:00AM when a heavily disguised robber with a large black handgun burst into the Circle-K convenience store on Little Rock Road.

The bleary eyed clerks were terrified as this nightmare pointed his gun and demanded money.

They couldn't act fast enough, so this impatient crook quickly escalated his threat.

"He jumped the counter and said, 'look, I want the money from the cash box right here in the front and from the cash box in the back.'"

CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson says, "that indicates to me that he had some knowledge what was going on inside that business.

And why is the detective so sure the robber had some deeper connection to the store?

"Somebody who had that information had to have had knowledge-- had worked there or knew someone who worked there who told him about those two cash locations."

He got his cash and left quickly. But there was something about the way he was dressed that caught the eye of the detective.

"One thing that was very distinctive about his jacket-- he had an emblem of a school, Johnson C. Smith University."

"Maybe somebody will see those clothes or the items he had on and call in and tell us who he was."

If you know anything about the man in the college jacket, call Crime Stoppers at (704) 334-1600 and you could earn cash in complete anonymity. We don't want your name, we want your information.

And don't forget you can download the new Crime Stoppers app for your smart phone. You can get it free on our website, wbtv.com/crimestoppers.

A West Englewood man was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail Sunday after he dropped out of a South Side currency exchange's ceiling and attempted to rob an employee who was there with her young son.

Joel R. West, 31, faces felony aggravated battery and armed robbery charges in connection to the incident, which happened Saturday morning at the business in the 3100 block of South Wallace Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood, according to court records.

A 44-year-old woman arrived at the business at 8 a.m. Saturday for work and had her 7-year-old son in tow, according to Assistant State's Attorney Elizabeth Dibler.

She walked into the store and West came crawling out of the ceiling, causing a ceiling panel to crash to the floor in front of them, Dibler said.

It was unclear Sunday how West got in to the ceiling.

Once he was on the ground, West brandished a knife and demanded the woman open a security door.

The woman refused and West pushed her into a corner, put the knife to her chin and punctured her skin, Dibler said.

West then took the victim's keys and the victim's son and walked to the security door, according to Dibler.

The woman begged the man to let her son go and West did, Dibler said.

Three Juveniles & Three Adults Charged in Overnight Attempted Robbery & Shooting

South Precinct detectives have determined that a 16-year-old girl shot early today during an attempted robbery on Bridgecrest Drive was an alleged participant in the robbery plot and was apparently hit by an errant round.

Shatoria Bitton is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The intended robbery victim, Jamarrius Kelly, 23, suffered a non-critical gunshot wound to his back. He was treated and released from Vanderbilt.

At 12:45 a.m. today, officers responded to a convenience market on Eagle View Boulevard where a wounded Kelly had driven. Kelly related that he had been at 1515 Bridgecrest Drive where he was wounded as he tried to flee from a robbery attempt. Police went to Bridgecrest Drive and discovered Bitton wounded in the yard.

Detectives learned that Kelly had been out last night with Jerica Taylor, who he thought to be a young adult, but who is actually 15. It was when Kelly drove Taylor to her Bridgecrest Drive residence that the attempted robbery occurred and shots were fired. Detectives went to Jerica Taylor’s apartment and detained her, her twin brother Joshua, Jacob Bryant, 19, and Braze Roland Rucker, 18. A pistol was also recovered from the apartment.

At about the same time, officers received information that a red or maroon Ford Taurus was also involved in the attempted robbery and shooting. Sergeant Noble Taylor and Officer Sam Tetterton located the Taurus at the dead end of Bridgecrest Drive near Pebble Creek Drive. There they took Marvin Bryant (Jacob Bryant’s brother), 16, into custody. Underneath the car was a semi-automatic pistol. Another suspect, Sean Michael Lynch, 19, fled the vehicle on foot and was later apprehended when he exited a wooded area onto Pebble Creek Drive.

All six individuals were taken back to the South Precinct for interviews. All but Rucker implicated themselves in the scheme to rob Kelly. During the interviews, Shatoria Bitton was also implicated.

Charges have been placed against all six persons and they remain in custody.

At juvenile detention are:

•Jerica Taylor, 15, of Bridgecrest Drive, who is charged with especially aggravated robbery;
•Joshua Taylor, 15, of Bridgecrest Drive, who is charged with especially aggravated robbery; and
•Marvin Bryant, 16, of Northwind Court in Goodlettsville, who is charged with especially aggravated robbery.
In the Metro Jail are:
•Sean Michael Lynch, 19, of Union Hill Road, who is charged with two counts of attempted murder, especially aggravated robbery, evading arrest and probation violation. His bond is set at $1.16 million;
•Braze Roland Rucker, 18, of Bell Road, who is charged with two counts of attempted criminal homicide and one count of especially aggravated robbery. His bond is set at $1.15 million; and
•Jacob Bryant, 19, of Northwind Court in Goodlettsville, who is charged with one count of aggravated robbery. His bond is set at $150,000.

Dennis Stallings

Convicted armed robber sentenced to 5 life terms

ATLANTA —
A judge sentenced a man to spend the rest of his life in prison for five robberies he committed in one night in downtown Atlanta.

Dennis Stallings, 23, was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences, plus 25 years in prison following his conviction by jury trial.

The string of robberies began at about 3 a.m. on Feb. 14, and lasted nearly two hours. Stallings and as many as three other unidentified men targeted unsuspecting pedestrians on Avon Avenue and Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta and pedestrians in the 10th Street and 12th Street areas in Midtown.

The crew drove around in a red sedan in search of victims. Once they spotted a target, the men would rush from the vehicle and ambush the victim at gunpoint.

The gunmen committed a total of five separate robberies and made off with a variety of personal belongings from wallets and purses to electronics.

A tracking device on one victim’s phone led police straight to the defendant. He was sitting in the getaway vehicle in a store parking lot in southwest Atlanta. SAIL FOAM!:D

Police recovered several stolen items from the vehicle and discovered ID and bank cards from each of the robbery victims in the defendant’s pockets.

Stallings was arrested on the spot.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kelly Amanda Lee levied a maximum life sentence for each of the armed robbery counts against Stallings and a maximum 25 years on the other counts against him.

Stallings has several prior felony convictions, including one for burglary and aggravated battery. During that arrest, Stallings fought with police and broke the police officer’s arm. Because he was a convicted felon, Stallings is ineligible for parole.
