A recent Texas Tech graduate has been fighting for her life on a ventilator for nearly a month after a deadly hit-and-run car crash that also killed her roommate.
Camryn Herriage, 23, was in a car alongside her roommate and several other friends when they were struck while waiting at a light on Feb. 11 in Dallas, Fox 4 Dallas reported.
Dallas Police said a Ford pickup truck slammed into the back of their vehicle, causing a pile-up crash just two blocks from Herriage’s apartment.

Herriage and four of her friends were rushed to a nearby hospital, but her roommate, Sara House, was killed in the crash, according to the station.
The 23-year-old graduated from Texas Tech University in December and moved into an apartment in Dallas near her close-knit group of friends whom she would often film TikToks with.
Her older sister Casie Campanello slammed the hit-and-run driver for her “careless act.”
“Literally, a careless act put us in a situation that changed all of our lives,” Campanello told the outlet. “We are very helpless and just have to stay strong for her, but it’s very difficult to see.”
Her sister has waited by her bedside now for weeks waiting for her to wake up.
“I know everybody, we all cry every day over it but try not to do it in the room with her,” Campanello said.

Police have arrested the woman accused of causing the crash and fleeing the scene. They said the driver, identified as 27-year-old Carmen Guerrero, was driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Bystanders who witnessed the crash called 911 to report that a woman exited the driver’s side of the truck “wearing a small black dress and white clubbing shoes,” and appeared to be “extremely intoxicated,” according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Detectives reportedly located Guerrero’s wallet in the abandoned truck and took her into custody last week.

Campanello said her main focus is not on the investigation or forgiving Guerrero but on her little sister’s recovery.
“When she came out of her first surgery, the surgeon told us he told us he never saw anyone make it to the hospital with her injury,” she said. “So she has a purpose.”
Guerrero faces multiple charges including manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
She is being held in the Dallas County jail.
