MIAMI – When detectives suspected he was in a gang in Miami, Davon Clyde Young was a teenager. He was on house arrest before his 19th birthday, and he was on probation when he turned 21.
On Tuesday, in Miami-Dade County court, an undercover detective with the Miami Police Department’s gang intelligence unit testified that Young, now 23, was a “documented” gang member.

Young, who has a “SPAZZ” tattoo on his neck, faced six charges in two pending cases. The detective told Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer in court that he had a violent past.
When Miami-Dade correctional officers booked him shortly after 3:35 a.m., on March 22, at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, detectives accused him of dealing crack cocaine and having a machine gun, a rifle, and a short-barrel shotgun.
In that case, Young was facing charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a machine gun, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a delinquent.
When Young appeared in court on Tuesday, detectives had searched his house and accused him of dealing ecstasy, having ammunition, and identifications that didn’t belong to him.
In that case, Young was facing another charge of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a delinquent, MDMA trafficking, and unlawful possession of five or more identifications.
Glazer set his bond at $37,500 and required a Nebbia hearing, so Young has to show the court that he isn’t paying with crime profits.
