Resolution calls for special session to convene to address illegal immigrant settlement that cropped up north of Houston in recent weeks.

Republicans in the Texas legislature voted unanimously to pass a resolution calling for a special session to be convened to discuss the sprawling illegal alien settlement in Texas known as Colony Ridge.

The Texas GOP passed the resolution in a 61-0 vote Monday, calling on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) to investigate the illegal immigrant settlement that cropped up north of Houston in recent weeks.

The resolution attests that the Colony Ridge development, which houses “an estimated 50,000 to 75,000 inhabitants and spans over 60 square miles,” is advertised on Spanish language and international channels and that the developer doesn’t require social security numbers to obtain loans.

The resolution also cites The Daily Wire’s reporting claiming the area has a minimal law enforcement presence, making it rife for cartel and drug activity, “including the Gulf and Sinaloa cartels which are reported to have purchased land in the early stages of the development in order to set up safe houses in the area.”

“Despite the challenges posed to the community by illegal alien settlements and the cartel activity that follows them, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office does not check immigration status in routine stops because, according to the office, it ‘would take forever,'” the resolution states.

It adds that the nearby school district, Cleveland ISD, has become overwhelmed with the influx of illegals, growing from an enrollment of 6,500 to over 12,400 in four years.

“Cleveland ISD has had to build several new schools and is reported to be hiring H-1B visa holders due to the number of foreign language teachers needed to keep pace with enrollment,” the resolution adds.

Republicans are also calling on Gov. Abbott to open a full investigation into Colony Ridge “and its possible connections to elected officials in the region.”

The effort to prevent more illegals from inhabiting the area comes as alarming footage made its rounds on social media last week showing an overhead view from a helicopter of the expansive development near the Woodlands suburb where illegal migrants are reportedly the majority of residents.

This is INSANE.

Biden's migrant crisis will cost taxpayers $451 BILLION a year: Staggering Republican report lays out how much is spent on healthcare and accommodation - as they target Mayorkas for impeachment

Taxpayers have to front nearly half a trillion dollars each year because the Biden administration is not stopping migrants at the southern border, Republicans said in a report on Monday.
The cost of providing education, healthcare, law enforcement and other expenditure resulting from millions of extra migrants adds up to as much as $451 billion a year, says the House study.
The 49-page report comes as House Republicans push to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for allegedly failing to constrain the record numbers of migrants arriving at the US-Mexico border.
'Every day, millions of American taxpayer dollars are spent on costs directly associated with illegal immigration and the unprecedented crisis at the Southwest border sparked by … Mayorkas' policies,' says the report.

'Mass illegal immigration, accelerated by Mayorkas' open-borders policies, now represents a massive cost to the federal government and state governments alike, as well as the pocketbooks of private citizens and businesses.'
President Joe Biden's administration has grappled with record numbers of migrants trying to cross the US-Mexico border illegally, a trend fueled by ever more people fleeing political chaos in Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
Since Biden took office in 2021, US border agents have made more than 5 million arrests of migrants making irregular crossings — that is, not through a controlled border station — over the U.S.-Mexico border.
Many claim asylum at the border and travel north looking for work in such sanctuary cities as New York City, Washington, DC, and Chicago, which are reeling from spending hundreds of millions of dollars on the new arrivals.
Amid chaotic scenes of packed buses arriving from the border and migrants sleeping outside refuge centers, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, said earlier this fall that the influx 'will destroy' the city.

The document, authorized by Mark Green, the Republican Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, brings together reports from these cities with estimates of the migration costs from think tanks and other public sources.
It includes the cost estimate of $451 billion from the Center for Immigration Studies, a right-wing think tank that favors sharply cutting people flows to the US, that was calculated by researcher Andrew Arthur in May.
It also includes another estimate, released in March by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), another research group, that taxpayers shell out at least $151 billion each year to cover the cost of illegal immigration.
According to FAIR, US federal and state governments spend $182 billion annually to provide services and benefits to non-legal aliens and their dependents.
That figure is only partially offset by the $31 billion in taxes that are collected by the estimated 15.5 million non-legal aliens living in the US, according to the group's president Dan Stein.
Some 3.8 million migrants have entered the country since Biden took office in 2021, says FAIR. Nearly half of them slipped into the country illegally and were never caught, it is claimed.
The House will vote on Monday whether to advance or block a Republican charge to impeach Mayorkas for allegedly failing in his duty to secure the US-Mexico border.

The articles of impeachment, introduced by Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene on Thursday, contend that Mayorkas, violated his oath of office by failing to lock down the frontier.
The impeachment comes after months of threats from Republicans, who slam the Biden administration for rolling back harsh curbs on migrants and asylum seekers introduced under former president Donald Trump, a Republican.
The Republican-controlled House appears likely to impeach Mayorkas, but he will almost definitely be found innocent after a trial in the Senate, where Democrats have a slim majority.
The department has previously bashed Republicans for 'their reckless impeachment charades and attacks on law enforcement' when they should be helping to reform the immigration system.

Both Biden and Trump are seeking another term in office in 2024, with Trump the leading candidate for the Republican nomination.

Should he win, Trump is reportedly planning a widespread expansion of his first administration's hard-line immigration policies, including rounding up undocumented immigrants into detention camps and deporting them.

Benefits For Illegal Aliens Expanding

The State of Illinois has announced that illegal aliens in the United States will be eligible for $9,000 in housing benefits. This is quite illegal, as illegal aliens are not eligible for housing benefits in the United States. Despite recent opening of welfare benefits to more aliens by the Biden Regime, illegal aliens remain ineligible for most welfare benefits, except for statutory eligibility in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, for example. Otherwise illegal aliens are prohibited from participation in any program, including public housing programs.
But Illinois has decided to extend blank housing vouchers to all illegal aliens, including those aliens in deportation proceedings.
Currently, the state is funding temporary housing, including rented apartments and homes for migrants. The state is providing up to $9,000 in rental assistance over a 6-month period, which includes assistance with moving in and a starter kit to furnish the apartment.
“That rent lasts for six months and ideally people would have started their legal process, secured legal work authorization and be able to sustain that apartment. And so the cost, or I guess the payment toward the landlord is based on market rate, it’s based on the configuration of the parament—how many rooms, where it’s located—all those things. And so it varies from place to place,” said Ald. Pacione-Zayas…
The city has allocated $4 million to assist migrants in obtaining temporary housing, with the state contributing an additional $38 million. At present, 30 to 40 case management workers from Catholic Charities are actively working to secure temporary housing for thousands of migrants, with efforts underway to hire more.
Illinois Provides $9,000 In Rental Assistance To Migrants Seeking Temporary Housing, by Tia Ewing, Fox 32, October 13, 2023
So-called asylum applicants—there is no evidence that any of the aliens have applied for asylum—remain illegal aliens, so are statutorily ineligible for such housing benefits, as well as the myriad of other benefits that the Federal, State, and local governments provide.
In the 1980s the nation was concerned about defining deviancy down, but today the Biden Regime is defining illegal alien down. It won’t be long before there will be no such thing as any welfare program for which illegal aliens aren’t eligible.

Feds SUE developers of massive “Colony Ridge” illegal immigrant community in Texas

JANUARY 11, 2024

Link: http://www.yourdestinationnow.com/2024/01/feds-sue-developers-of-massive-colony.html

Thanks to the hard work of Operation Burning Edge, we are finally seeing some action against Colony Ridge, a huge illegal alien community north of Houston that has been growing unrestrained for many months now.

The federal government is suing the developers of Colony Ridge, which we now know contributed enormous amounts of bribe money to the Texas state legislature, including numerous U.S. congressmen and Gov. Greg Abbott himself, to rubber-stamp their approval for this massive illegal migrant development.

Located in Liberty County, Colony Ridge currently houses some 70,000 illegal alien settlers who were drawn there using the lure of a special owner-buyer financing scheme. That scheme allows illegals to purchase land in Texas without the usual mortgage requirements.

There are also rumors that Mexican drug cartels are operating in and out of Colony Ridge, hence the mounting reports of increased lawlessness there. There is no police presence in Colony Ridge, which means the development is operating more like the Wild West than a legitimate community of the United States.

Developer Terreno Houston, Republican owners fight efforts to shut down Colony Ridge

The development firm, Terreno Houston, and its owners, Republicans Trey and John Harris, are fighting tooth and nail to keep Colony Ridge alive – but will it work?

Reports indicate that 2024 could be the year that the Harrises will face fresh challenges pertaining to the loan, marketing and sales model that spawned Colony Ridge in the first place. A recent special legislative session called for by Gov. Abbott conveniently failed to address the matter, which later prompted the filing of a complaint on December 20.

The 11-count civil rights complaint, which was filed by the U.S. Department of Justice's (DoJ) Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, alleges that since at least 2016, Terrenos Houston and its affiliates have engaged in a large-scale "illegal land sales scheme" that used false statements and "predatory" owner-to-buyer loans to sucker tens of thousands of illegals into purchasing "flooding-prone home building lots despite extremely high interest, foreclosure and property-flipping rates," to quote the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS).

In its 45-page charging complaint, the bureau alleges that Terrenos Houston's operations in Liberty County represent a clear violation of the Fair Housing Act and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. The developer also used sophisticated "bait-and-switch" fraud tactics on victims based on their "national origin."

Terrenos Houston also exploited language barriers that "turned their dreams into absolute nightmares," referring to the hordes of illegals who were promised a better life and an "American dream" if they purchased homes there.

"Colony Ridge lies to buyers," said Rohit Chopra, director of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in an announcement, adding that salespeople at Colony Ridge would tell interested buyers that lots they were purchasing never flooded, even though they frequently do because they are located in flood plains.

Then there are the predatory interest rates reaching as high as 12.9 percent that were intentionally used to generate high-frequency property foreclosures. Following foreclosure, the taken-back properties would then be flipped for extra profit.

According to the independent journal Houston Landing, of the 35,000 properties thus far sold in Colony Ridge, nearly half of them have already ended up back in the hands of the company.

"It's a garbage dump and the crime from these developments spills out into the surrounding communities," one upset commenter wrote. "I've lived out here since before any of these developments existed, and it was a very peaceful and safe area."

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Sues Colony Ridge, Alleges ‘Fraudulent Practices’

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Thursday filed a lawsuit against Colony Ridge, a sprawling development that’s become a magnet for illegal immigrants, alleging deceptive trade practices and fraudulent transactions.
The lawsuit comes as Colony Ridge, which allegedly uses marketing and financial strategies to attract illegal immigrants, continues to be buried in legal problems, facing multiple federal investigations and a joint lawsuit from the Department of Justice and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

“Colony Ridge’s business model is predicated on churning land purchasers through a foreclosure mill,” Paxton’s lawsuit states. “Namely, Colony Ridge targets foreign born and Hispanic consumers with limited or no access to credit with promises of cheap, ready to build land and financing without proof of income.”
The development, highlighted in a Daily Wire investigation in September, allegedly uses financial and marketing strategies that attract illegal immigrants, allowing Colony Ridge to surge to as many as 70,000 residents while sprawling across roughly 60 square miles. The development sold plots of land for down payments of $500 with interest rates of about 13%, using a specific financing method that allowed foreign nationals illegally present in the United States to buy land.

“A monthslong investigation by the Office of the Attorney General found that the developer has made numerous false, misleading, and deceptive sales, marketing, and lending practices that enabled their business model,” a press release from Paxton’s office reads.
“Colony Ridge has been flagrantly violating Texas law. The development profited from targeting consumers with fraudulent claims and predatory lending practices” Paxton went on to allege. “Their deceptive practices have created unjust and outsized harms. Nearby communities have borne a tremendous cost for the scheme that made Colony Ridge’s developers a fortune.”

The development was previously addressed in a letter from Paxton alleging Colony Ridge “appears to be attracting and enabling illegal alien settlement in the state of Texas and distressing neighboring cities and school districts.”
