"This is a time to really step up. Because if we don’t, we know what happens, Putin will be able to move forward with impunity. And we know he won’t stop in Ukraine," he says.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken claimed that Ukraine will collapse and Russia will invade other NATO countries unless Congress authorizes $106 billion in foreign aid.

Blinken joined CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday amid an ongoing financial battle between the Biden regime and Congressional Republicans hesitant on signing off on billions more in aid especially as reports emerge that Ukraine has all but lost the war.

“What would it mean for Ukraine and Israel if Congress does not pass any additional support by the end of the year? And why not agree to tougher border protections, which is an issue of national security as well?” host Jake Tapper asked.

.@SecBlinken: Without another “vital” aid package for Ukraine, “Putin will be able to move forward with impunity. And we know he won’t stop in Ukraine. He may well end up going after a NATO country. That would bring us in given our obligations to our NATO allies. So a ounce of… pic.twitter.com/WIgNXSZRCx

Blinken claimed America’s adversaries would love to see Congress fail to pass the $100 billion in aid to Ukraine.

“In terms of what it would mean for Ukraine, what it would mean for Israel, what it would mean for our efforts to be competitive in the Indo-Pacific, I think the only people who’d be happy if the supplemental budget request is not voted on and approved by Congress are sitting in Moscow, sitting in Tehran, sitting in Beijing,” Blinken said.

He then pushed the baseless talking point that Putin will invade other NATO countries if it wins its conflict against Ukraine.

“Similarly, we’ve had extraordinary burden sharing with our allies and partners. We provided very significant assistance, about $70 billion over the last two years. Our European friends and partners beyond Europe, more than $110 billion for Ukraine. So we have the burden sharing that we need,” he said.

“This is a time to really step up. Because if we don’t, we know what happens, Putin will be able to move forward with impunity. And we know he won’t stop in Ukraine. And he may well end up going after a NATO country that would bring us in given our obligations to our NATO allies.”

“They’ve made remarkable progress over the last year in pushing back Russian aggression, taking back more than 50% of the territory that was seized since February of 2022. But they’re in a ferocious battle now in the south and the east. We are running out of funding for them,” he added.

This comes as Joe Biden and other members of his cabinet like Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin warned that American troops will die fighting Russia unless Congress passes that $106 billion in aid.

Putin ‘tried everything possible’ to make peace – Ukrainian diplomat

JANUARY 01, 2024

Link: http://www.yourdestinationnow.com/2024/01/putin-tried-everything-possible-to-make.html/

Russian President Vladimir Putin personally sought a peace agreement with Ukraine in April 2022, according to Ambassador Aleksandr Chaly, a senior member of the Ukrainian delegation.

Chaly expressed this perspective during an event at the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP) in early December, where he dissected the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The ex-deputy foreign minister is an associate fellow at the Swiss government-funded foundation. His remarks drew media attention after a video of the event was released on YouTube last week.

Chaly analyzed the roots of the ongoing conflict, which he described as “hard competition” for Ukraine that the US and the EU have with Russia, as well as Kiev’s intention to join the EU and NATO. He stressed that “Russian aggression” was not inevitable since the parties had sufficient tools to resolve their differences.

The diplomat called Putin’s decision to launch the special military operation against Ukraine in February 2022 “a crime” and “a mistake” and claimed that the Russian leader had been misled by “his own propaganda and his intelligence services.”

Approximately a week into hostilities, Chaly believes Putin recognized the unrealistic nature of his expectations and actively pursued a negotiated resolution. He based his analysis on his personal involvement in the peace talks, which were first hosted by Minsk and culminated in Istanbul in late March with a draft truce approved by both sides.

“Putin … tried to do everything possible to conclude [the] agreement with Ukraine,” the diplomat told the audience. The text made concessions to Kiev, compared to Russia’s initial position, and it was Putin’s “personal decision” to accept it, he claimed.

We’ve managed to find a very real compromise. Putin really wanted to reach some peaceful agreement with Ukraine.
Chaly mused that “for some reason,” the Istanbul communique did not transform into an actual treaty.

The Ukrainian delegation’s leader, MP David Arakhamia, said in late November that then-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson advised Ukrainians to “just continue fighting” during his visit to Kiev after the conclusion of the talks.

Remarks made by senior Russian officials, including Putin, partially back Chaly’s account. The president said during his year-end press conference this month that Russia’s stated goals of demilitarization and “de-Nazification” of Ukraine would have been addressed under the pre-approved treaty.

US Foreign Policy Is a Scam Built on Corruption

The $1.5 trillion in military outlays each year is the scam that keeps on giving – to the military-industrial complex and the Washington insiders – even as it impoverishes and endangers America and the world.

On the surface, US foreign policy seems to be utterly irrational. The US gets into one disastrous war after another – Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Ukraine, and Gaza. In recent days, the US stands globally isolated in its support of Israel’s genocidal actions against the Palestinians, voting against a UN General Assembly resolution for a Gaza ceasefire backed by 153 countries with 89% of the world population, and opposed by just the US and 9 small countries with less than 1% of the world population.
In the past 20 years, every major US foreign policy objective has failed. The Taliban returned to power after 20 years of US occupation of Afghanistan. Post-Saddam Iraq became dependent on Iran. Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad stayed in power despite a CIA effort to overthrow him. Libya fell into a protracted civil war after a US-led NATO mission overthrew Muammar Gaddafi. Ukraine was bludgeoned on the battlefield by Russia in 2023 after the US secretly scuttled a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine in 2022.
To understand the foreign-policy scam, think of today’s federal government as a multi-division racket controlled by the highest bidders.
Despite these remarkable and costly debacles, one following the other, the same cast of characters has remained at the helm of US foreign policy for decades, including Joe Biden, Victoria Nuland, Jake Sullivan, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell, and Hillary Clinton.
What gives?
The puzzle is solved by recognizing that American foreign policy is not at all about the interests of the American people. It is about the interests of the Washington insiders, as they chase campaign contributions and lucrative jobs for themselves, staff, and family members. In short, US foreign policy has been hacked by big money.
As a result, the American people are losing big. The failed wars since 2000 have cost them around $5 trillion in direct outlays, or around $40,000 per household. Another $2 trillion or so will be spent in the coming decades on veterans’ care. Beyond the costs directly incurred by Americans, we should also recognize the horrendously high costs suffered abroad, in millions of lives lost and trillions of dollars of destruction to property and nature in the war zones.
The costs continue to mount. US Military-linked outlays in 2024 will come to around $1.5 trillion, or roughly $12,000 per household, if we add the direct Pentagon spending, the budgets of the CIA and other intelligence agencies, the budget of the Veteran’s Administration, the Department of Energy nuclear weapons program, the State Department’s military-linked “foreign aid” (such as to Israel), and other security-related budget lines. Hundreds of billions of dollars are money down the drain, squandered in useless wars, overseas military bases, and a wholly unnecessary arms build-up that brings the world closer to WWIII.
Yet to describe these gargantuan costs is also to explain the twisted “rationality” of US foreign policy. The $1.5 trillion in military outlays is the scam that keeps on giving – to the military-industrial complex and the Washington insiders – even as it impoverishes and endangers America and the world.
To understand the foreign-policy scam, think of today’s federal government as a multi-division racket controlled by the highest bidders. The Wall Street division is run out of the Treasury. The Health Industry division is run out of the Department of Health and Human Services. The Big Oil and Coal division is run out of the Departments of Energy and Interior. And the Foreign Policy division is run out of the White House, Pentagon and CIA.
Each division uses public power for private gain through insider dealing, greased by corporate campaign contributions and lobbying outlays. Interestingly, the Health Industry division rivals the Foreign Policy division as a remarkable financial scam. America’s health outlays totaled an astounding $4.5 trillion in 2022, or roughly $36,000 per household, by far the highest health costs in the world, while America ranked roughly 40th in the world among nations in life expectancy. A failed health policy translates into very big bucks for the health industry, just as a failed foreign policy translates into mega-revenues of the military-industrial complex.
The more wars, of course, the more business.
The Foreign Policy division is run by a small, secretive and tight-knit coterie, including the top brass of the White House, the CIA, the State Department, the Pentagon, the Armed Services Committees of the House and Senate, and the major military firms including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. There are perhaps a thousand key individuals involved in setting policy. The public interest plays little role.
The key foreign policy makers run the operations of 800 US overseas military bases, hundreds of billions of dollars of military contracts, and the war operations where the equipment is deployed. The more wars, of course, the more business. The privatization of foreign policy has been greatly amplified by the privatization of the war business itself, as more and more “core” military functions are handed out to the arms manufacturers and to contractors such as Haliburton, Booz Allen Hamilton, and CACI.
In addition to the hundreds of billions of dollars of military contracts, there are important business spillovers from the military and CIA operations. With military bases in 80 countries around the world, and CIA operations in many more, the US plays a large, though mostly covert role, in determining who rules in those countries, and thereby on policies that shape lucrative deals involving minerals, hydrocarbons, pipelines, and farm and forest land. The US has aimed to overthrow at least 80 governments since 1947, typically led by the CIA through the instigation of coups, assassinations, insurrections, civil unrest, election tampering, economic sanctions, and overt wars. (For a superb study of US regime-change operations from 1947 to 1989, see Lindsey O’Rourke’s Covert Regime Change, 2018).
In addition to business interests, there are of course ideologues who truly believe in America’s right to rule the world. The ever-warmongering Kagan family is the most famous case, though their financial interests are also deeply intertwined with the war industry. The point about ideology is this. The ideologists have been wrong on nearly every occasion and long ago would have lost their bully pulpits in Washington but for their usefulness as warmongers. Wittingly or not, they serve as paid performers for the military-industrial complex.
There is one persistent inconvenience for this ongoing business scam. In theory, foreign policy is carried out in the interest of the American people, though the opposite is the truth. (A similar contradiction of course applies to overpriced healthcare, government bailouts of Wall Street, oil-industry perks, and other scams). The American people rarely support the machinations of US foreign policy when they occasionally hear the truth. America’s wars are not waged by popular demand but by decisions from on high. Special measures are needed to keep the people away from decision making.
In theory, foreign policy is carried out in the interest of the American people, though the opposite is the truth.
The first such measure is unrelenting propaganda. George Orwell nailed it in 1984 when “the Party” suddenly switched the foreign enemy from Eurasia to Eastasia without a word of explanation. The US essentially does the same. Who is the US gravest enemy? Take your pick, according to the season. Saddam Hussein, the Taliban, Hugo Chavez, Bashar al-Assad, ISIS, al-Qaeda, Gaddafi, Vladimir Putin, Hamas, have all played the role of “Hitler” in US propaganda. White House spokesman John Kirby delivers the propaganda with a smirk on his face, signaling that he too knows that what he is saying is ludicrous, albeit mildly entertaining.
The propaganda is amplified by the Washington think tanks that live off of donations by military contractors and occasionally foreign governments that are part of the US scam operations. Think of the Atlantic Council, CSIS, and of course the ever-popular Institute for the Study of War, brought to you by the major military contractors.
The second is to hide the costs of the foreign policy operations. In the 1960s, the US Government made the mistake of forcing the American people to bear the costs of the military-industrial complex by drafting young people to fight in Vietnam and by raising taxes to pay for the war. The public erupted in opposition.
From the 1970s onward the government has been far more clever. The government ended the draft, and made military service a job for hire rather than a public service, backed by Pentagon outlays to recruit soldiers from lower economic strata. It also abandoned the quaint idea that government outlays should be funded by taxes, and instead shifted the military budget to deficit spending which protects it from popular opposition that would be triggered if it were tax-funded.
It has also suckered client states such as Ukraine to fight America’s wars on the ground, so that no American body bags would spoil the US propaganda machine. Needless to say, US masters of war such as Sullivan, Blinken, Nuland, Schumer, and McConnell remain thousands of miles away from the frontlines. The dying is reserved for Ukrainians. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) defended American military aid to Ukraine as money well spent because it is “without a single American service woman or man injured or lost,” somehow not dawning on the good Senator to spare the lives of Ukrainians, who have died by the hundreds of thousands in a US-provoked war over NATO enlargement.
This system is underpinned by the complete subordination of the U.S. Congress to the war business, to avoid any questioning of the over-the-top Pentagon budgets and the wars instigated by the Executive Branch. The subordination of Congress works as follows. First, the Congressional oversight of war and peace is largely assigned to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, which largely frame the overall Congressional policy (and the Pentagon budget). Second, the military industry (Boeing, Raytheon, and the rest) funds the campaigns of the Armed Services Committee members of both parties. The military industries also spend vast sums on lobbying in order to provide lucrative salaries to retiring members of Congress, their staffs, and families, either directly in military businesses or in Washington lobbying firms.
It is the urgent task of the American people to overhaul a foreign policy that is so broken, corrupted, and deceitful that it is burying the government in debt while pushing the world closer to nuclear Armageddon.
The hacking of Congressional foreign policy is not only by the US military-industrial complex. The Israel lobby long ago mastered the art of buying the Congress. America’s complicity in Israel’s apartheid state and war crimes in Gaza makes no sense for US national security and diplomacy, not to speak of human decency. They are the fruits of Israel lobby investments that reached $30 million in campaign contributions in 2022, and that will vastly top that in 2024.
When Congress reassembles in January, Biden, Kirby, Sullivan, Blinken, Nuland, Schumer, McConnell, Blumenthal and their ilk will tell us that we absolutely must fund the losing, cruel, and deceitful war in Ukraine and the ongoing massacre and ethnic cleansing in Gaza, lest we and Europe and the free world, and perhaps the solar system itself, succumb to the Russian bear, the Iranian mullahs, and the Chinese Communist Party. The purveyors of foreign policy disasters are not being irrational in this fear-mongering. They are being deceitful and extraordinarily greedy, pursuing narrow interests over those of the American people.
It is the urgent task of the American people to overhaul a foreign policy that is so broken, corrupted, and deceitful that it is burying the government in debt while pushing the world closer to nuclear Armageddon. This overhaul should start in 2024 by rejecting any more funding for the disastrous Ukraine War and Israel’s war crimes in Gaza. Peacemaking, and diplomacy, not military spending, is the path to a US foreign policy in the public interest.

4 Absolutely Massive Bombshells About The War In Ukraine That Every American Needs To See

No matter who the American people elect as their representatives, the permanent ruling class in Washington D.C. remains the same. Unfortunately for all of us, this permanent ruling class has become absolutely desperate to win the war in Ukraine. One member of that permanent ruling class, Victoria Nuland, is pleading with Congress to approve more funds for the war. One of her arguments is that “we have to remember that the bulk of this money is going right back into this economy to make those weapons”. Oh yes, pouring giant mountains of money down the gullet of the military-industrial complex would certainly be good for economic growth. But if we allow the permanent ruling class to drag us into a shooting war with Russia, millions of Americans could end up dead.

The permanent ruling class in Europe has also become extremely desperate to win the war.

The power elite on both sides of the Atlantic can see Russian troops advancing all along the front, and they know that the Ukrainians don’t have the strength to stop them.
So now there is apparently talk of sending NATO troops into Ukraine.
Seriously.
According to Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, “a number of Nato and EU member states are considering that they will send their troops to Ukraine on a bilateral basis”…
The prime minister of Slovakia has claimed that Nato and EU member states are preparing to deploy troops to Ukraine.
Robert Fico, a pro-Russia populist, offered no details of how Western soldiers could be sent to assist Ukraine, and commentators said he was probably just trying to stir up trouble.
He was speaking ahead of a hastily-arranged meeting of European leaders in Paris because of what his advisers say is an escalation in Russian aggression over the past few weeks.
The meeting implies that “a number of Nato and EU member states are considering that they will send their troops to Ukraine on a bilateral basis”, Mr Fico told a televised briefing following a meeting of Slovakia’s security council.
I was hoping that this was a misunderstanding somehow, but then French President Emmanuel Macron seemed to confirm that ground troops are being considered.
He told the press that there is currently no consensus on deploying ground troops, but that “nothing should be excluded”
French President Emmanuel Macron announced Monday that a new coalition would be created to supply Ukraine with longer-range missiles and munitions, adding that not even the sending of Western ground troops to fight the Russian invasion should be ruled out.
“There is no consensus today to send ground troops… but nothing should be excluded. We will do whatever it takes to ensure that Russia cannot win this war,” Macron said after a meeting of European leaders in Paris.
Whatever it takes?
Does that include bringing us right to the brink of nuclear war?
The second bombshell that I have to share with you today has to do with a shocking report that was published in the New York Times on Sunday.
According to that report, the CIA has had a network of 12 secret spy bases inside Ukraine for many years
On Sunday The New York Times published an explosive and very belated full admission that US intelligence has not only been instrumental in Ukraine wartime decision-making, but has established and financed high tech command-and-control spy centers, and was doing so long prior to the Feb. 24 Russian invasion of two years ago.
Among the biggest revelations is that the program was established a decade ago and spans three different American presidents. The Times says the CIA program to modernize Ukraine’s intelligence services has “transformed” the former Soviet state and its capabilities into “Washington’s most important intelligence partners against the Kremlin today.”
This has included the agency having secretly trained and equipped Ukrainian intelligence officers spanning back to just after the 2014 Maidan coup events, as well constructing a network of 12 secret bases along the Russian borderwork which began eight years ago. These intelligence bases, from which Russian commanders’ communications can be swept up and Russian spy satellites monitored, are being used launch and track cross-border drone and missile attacks on Russian territory.
How can we possibly claim that we are not responsible for missile attacks on Russian territory when we are the ones supplying the weapons and we are the ones telling them where to shoot?
See also The most popular man in Ukraine becomes problem for Zelensky.
This is so maddening.
They are literally gambling with all of our lives.
If they miscalculate and a nuclear war starts, it will be the end of society as we know it today.
Both sides should be looking for a way out while that is still possible, but instead both sides just continue to escalate matters.
And both sides will try to use anything that happens to get people even more riled up.
For example, here in the western world we were told that Vladimir Putin murdered Alexei Navalny for political reasons, but now even the Ukrainians are telling us that it is “more or less confirmed” that he died of a blood clot
In a very unexpected plot twist, Ukraine appears to be in agreement with the Kremlin on Alexei Navalny’s death inside a far northern Russian prison which occurred on Feb. 16 and was listed by Russian authorities as officially due to “natural causes”. The dominant Western narrative has thus far been that Putin had him “murdered”.
Yet now Kiev sources are saying that the anti-Putin activist supported by the West died of a blood clot. Surprisingly, this explanation is being advanced among Ukraine media sources after none other than Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR), bluntly stated it to a group of journalists on Sunday. “I may disappoint you, but as far as we know, he indeed died as a result of a blood clot. And this has been more or less confirmed,” Budanov stated.
Personally, I don’t have access to any of the evidence, and so I have no idea how Navalny died.
But what really disturbed me was that his death was being used as justification for pumping more money into a war that could get millions of Americans killed.
And now we are finding out that he may have died due to a blood clot.

The madness needs to stop.
Hundreds of thousands have already died in Ukraine. Why can’t both sides just sit down and talk?
Unfortunately, it appears that leaders on both sides do not intend to be reasonable at this point.
I have one more bombshell to share with you before I end this article.
I cannot vouch for the veracity of this information. But since tons of people on social media are talking about it right now, I figured that I would present it to you and allow you to come to your own conclusions.
See also Holy Sh*t!! Is INFLATION About To Explode Higher?
It is being claimed that the Russians have captured a man that had been paid $4,000 to put an explosive device on Tucker Carlson’s vehicle when he was in Moscow to interview Vladimir Putin…
Russian counter-terrorist forces have foiled a terrorist attack in Moscow, which had been planned, directed and financed by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine. The terrorist cell was operated by “Ukrainian handlers” in order to carry out an attack on American journalist Tucker Carlson during his visit to Moscow. The terrorist confessed to the plot and gave details on it. He was provided with IED (improvised explosive device) for the attack. The plan was to target Tucker Carlson’s vehicle in the Four Seasons hotel underground parking lot.
In his interrogation Vasiliev recounted receiving instructions and the location of IED, but said that he was arrested before committing the attack. He also mentioned that his Ukrainian handlers promised him $4000 for a successful execution of the attack.
A video of this assassin supposedly confessing what he did has been posted on YouTube.
According to a transcript of his confession, he was not told who the target was in advance, but now he understands that the vehicle that he was supposed to put the explosive device on belonged to “journalist Tucker Carlson”
“In November 2023, I was recruited by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“I was trained in working with special communications, collecting, and detonating explosive devices.”
“On January 31, I received a task from the curator to pick up an explosive device from a hiding place and use it to blow up a car.”
What was promised to you?
“Four thousand dollars.”
Where was the explosive device supposed to be used?
“In the underground parking of the Four Seasons hotel in Moscow. I was supposed to pick up the explosive device from a hiding place and place it under the car.”
Who was it targeting?
“I wasn’t told.”
Do you know who the target was now?
“Yes. American journalist Tucker Carlson.”
What went wrong?
“I was detained at the preparation stage.”
If you have not seen it yet, you can watch the video of his supposed confession right here.

Hopefully this is not true.

Hopefully the Ukrainians were not really trying to kill Tucker Carlson.
But tons of people on social media are buzzing about this today, and so I thought I would discuss it.
Like I said, I am seriously hoping that this is not accurate.
Because if it is true, the implications are staggering.
Everyone that writes about the war in Ukraine has an agenda.
I have an agenda too.
I want peace.
Long before Russia invaded Ukraine, I warned my readers that we were on a path that would lead to a final showdown with Russia.
If we end up in a shooting war with Russia, both sides will be strongly tempted to be the first to push the button.
Because whoever strikes first has the best chance of surviving a nuclear war.

I don’t want a nuclear war.
I want peace.
Sadly, the people running our foreign policy don’t want peace, and so the threat of nuclear conflict looms larger than ever.
