US presidential candidate condemns Kremlin drone attack

by tts-admin | May 5, 2023

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Thursday denounced the drone attack targeting the Kremlin, which Moscow has blamed on Washington. The Democrat challenging President Joe Biden for the presidential nomination also reminded Americans how his uncle helped prevent nuclear war with the USSR.
“Imagine how we would respond if Russian-backed forces launched a drone strike on the Capitol. We must stop these deranged attempts to escalate the war,” Kennedy tweeted.
“After successfully defusing the Cuban Missile Crisis, President John Kennedy warned against ever again forcing Russia to choose between national humiliation and nuclear war. We should heed his advice,” he added.
The 1962 standoff almost resulted in a shooting war between the US and the USSR, involving atomic weapons. It was resolved when Kennedy and Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev agreed to a withdrawal of Soviet nuclear missiles from Cuba and US missiles from Türkiye.
RFK Jr. announced his presidential candidacy last month, somewhat leveraging his family name as the nephew of President Kennedy and son of his brother Robert. He outlined his position on US-Russia relations in an interview published on Wednesday, arguing that Washington has repeatedly lied to Moscow and trampled its “red lines.”
Kennedy also accused the US establishment of sacrificing hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian lives in a proxy war against Russia, while condemning the Russian “invasion” and noting that his own son had volunteered to fight for Kiev. Washington needs a leader who can think like JFK during the Cuban Missile Crisis and “put yourself in the other guy’s shoes,” he said.
Two drones were disabled by Russian air defenses while attempting to strike the Russian president’s residence early on Wednesday. President Vladimir Putin was elsewhere and no one was injured in the incident. Kiev has officially denied any responsibility.
The Kremlin described the incident as an attempted assassination and said Russia reserved the right to retaliate against the perpetrators at a time and in a manner of its choosing. On Thursday, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed Kiev’s denials as “laughable” but said the true culprits were overseas.
“We know full well that decisions to carry out such terrorist actions are made not in Kiev, but in Washington,” Peskov told reporters.

RFK Jr Says Russia Faces ‘Existential’ Fight It ‘Cannot Lose in Ukraine’

"The US government and, in particular, the neocons in the White House and elsewhere participated in and supported the overthrow of the democratically-elected government of Ukraine," notes the Democrat.

All of Washington’s decisions since the hostilities in Ukraine escalated in early 2022 have been about prolonging and maximizing the violence and bloodshed produced by this conflict, Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. insisted, speaking in a podcast interview.

“The Russians cannot lose in Ukraine, as this is existential to them,” Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. underscored as he spoke with the hosts of the All-In Podcast. He added: “We are being told they are losing, but they cannot afford to lose.”

Russia has been “building up” its forces, and it has “an artillery advantage,” the Democratic presidential candidate pointed out, adding that the US, which has been funneling vast amounts of weapons to Ukraine, does not have the ability to replace the arms lost in the conflagration.

Washington has been doing everything to prolong the Ukraine conflict, and the Biden administration has been displaying “absolute intransigence” regarding the many opportunities to end the conflagration. But this can be explained by the fact that the US has been on “a mission to maximize casualties, to prolong what is, essentially, a war of attrition,” RFK Jr. said.

The lawyer-turned-politician took a step back at this point in the interview and said that the “real story” started in 2014, when “the US government and, in particular, the neocons in the White House and elsewhere participated in and supported the overthrow of the democratically-elected government of Ukraine.”

RFK states the Ukraine war started with the coup when the western alliance overthrew a democratic leader of Ukraine with their puppet.

“They helped to install in Kiev a very anti-Russian government. This government started enacting a series of laws that turned the Russian populations of the Donbass region into “second-class” citizens. They illegalized, essentially, their language and culture, and then, ultimately, began killing them,” said.

This is what prompted Russia’s response when it started its special military operation in February 2022 to protect these people. The Ukraine conflict could have been settled if the Minsk accords of 2014 had been followed through with, believes the politician, underscoring that there was no question that Washington had been actively integrating Ukrainian forces into NATO – something that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said from the outset was a “red line.”

Looking ahead, Kennedy said the Kiev regime cannot continue to fight without US support, and that if he became president, he would settle the conflict. As for the incumbent in the White House – Democratic POTUS Joe Biden – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. acknowledged that he was a “go-to-war guy.”

“I would settle this,” reiterated Kennedy, underscoring the need for de-escalating tensions with Russia and questioning the very need for NATO.

“The principal job of a president of the United States is to keep the nation out of war,” John F. Kennedy said.

These remarks echo what the Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said earlier in the month, when he pointed out that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a chance to avoid the conflict with Russia by simply refusing to join NATO.

“In 2019 actor and comedian Volodymyr Zelensky ran as the peace candidate winning the Ukrainian presidency with 70% of the vote. As Benjamin Abelow observes in his brilliant book, ‘How the West Brought War to Ukraine,’ Zelensky almost certainly could have avoided the 2022 war with Russia simply by uttering five words – ‘I will not join NATO’,” Kennedy said in a tweet.

When Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 69, tossed his hat into the presidential race, he explained his motivation to run as stemming from the “rise of corporatism in this country,” as well the fact that the modern Democratic Party is “becoming the party of war, the party of censorship, the party of fear and the party of neocons and Wall Street.”

Growing Pushback Over BlackRock In Ukraine: "Taxpayers Pay The War Bills, Private Firms Get The Profits"

MONDAY, MAY 08, 2023 - 01:45 AM

Blackrock, the world’s largest manager of assets, starting in September has been sending teams of executives to Kiev to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his officials. In December BlackRock CEO Larry Fink in a phone call reached a tentative agreement with Zelensky to coordinate major reconstruction investment in the war-ravaged country.
A call readout at that time confirmed that the two would "focus in the near term on coordinating the efforts of all potential investors and participants in the reconstruction of our country, channelling investment into the most relevant and impactful sectors of the Ukrainian economy."
Now multiple meetings later, amid growing visibility, the initiative is being met with a degree of controversy and pushback from some sectors of the Ukrainian public as well as international commentators. This as another high-level meeting took place Friday in Kiev, which included Blackrock's vice chairman and member of the asset management firm’s global executive committee Philipp Hildebrand.
Early December video conference meeting with Larry Fink, via Ukrainian presidency's office
Details of the reconstruction fund are being hammered out, but simultaneously attracting more scrutiny and criticism.
Bloomberg described the latest meeting as follows:
BlackRock Financial Market Advisory will provide services for the fund, according to an emailed statement from Zelenskiy’s office. The fund will seek private and public capital for projects in Ukraine after active hostilities end.
"We can offer interesting projects for investments in energy, agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, IT and many other sectors," Zelenskiy said. "We want global partners, who can provide us with large investments to come."
One international online financial publication took note of a selection of the negative reactions among pundits, including social media statements which said: "Taxpayers pay the war bills, private firms get the profits," and "Ukraine [is] being privatized and sold off to companies like Blackrock."

RT as well as other pro-Kremlin media have leveled similar criticisms...
"Ukraine being privatized and sold off to companies like Blackrock, while being enslaved to the IMF, the US and EU through crippling debt?" RT's "Going Underground" show tweeted out over the weekend.
And not long before Tucker Carlson was pushed out at Fox, he weighed in on the cozying relationship as follows...

The timing of these remarks from Hillary Clinton and friends is certainly interesting...

Meanwhile, it's becoming more evident by the day that the much-hyped Ukrainian spring offensive has stalled, or may not ever completely get off the ground at all in terms of momentum, given also Russia has escalated its nationwide aerial attacks and generally ratcheted the pressure against Ukraine's frontline positions.

The World Bank starting in December began trying to put a number to Ukraine's post-war reconstruction costs, citing at that time a figure of upwards of 600 billion euros. All the way back in October the Ukrainian government offered its own estimate at nearly $750 billion.
Zelensky's office and state-linked media have simultaneously been informing citizens that BlackRock is firmly in its corner while touting that BlackRock manages $8 trillion worth of client assets.

A loading station of the Druzhba oil pipeline in Russia’s Bryansk Region, near Ukraine, was shelled early on Wednesday, its operator – the Transneft oil company – has claimed.
The incident was first reported by the Baza Telegram channel, which said that the facility in the village of Sven had been attacked twice within 20 minutes at around 5:00am local time. Three empty fuel storage tanks were hit by shells, with several ten-centimeter holes detected in them afterwards, it added.
A few hours later, the operator of the Druzhba pipeline, Russian oil company Transneft, confirmed the attack to Tass news agency.
“Yes, early this morning there really was an attempt to commit a terrorist act against the Druzhba oil pipeline system at the ‘Bryansk’ loading station,” the company’s spokesman, Igor Demin, told the agency.
“No one was hurt or injured” as a result of the attack, Demin said, adding that the “relevant authorities” have been investigating the incident.

Explosive devices found at Russian pipeline – Transneft

The Druzhba (Friendship) pipeline is one of the largest oil transport networks in the world, spanning some 4,000km (2,485 miles) and bringing oil from Russia to Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany.
The pipeline’s facilities in Bryansk Region have frequently been targeted from the Ukrainian side amid the conflict between Moscow and Kiev. In March, Transneft said that several explosive devices, which were apparently dropped by drones, had been discovered at the Novozybkov oil-pumping station. A few weeks before that, the same facility was shelled, but no significant damage was done.
The Russian regions of Bryansk, Belgorod, and Kursk, all of which border Ukraine, have been attacked on numerous occasions by the Kiev forces over the past year. The drone and missile strikes have been directed at energy infrastructure and residential areas, resulting in several civilian deaths and many injuries, and in the destruction of property.
Bryansk Region has recently become the main hotspot. Two freight trains have derailed after explosive devices damaged tracks in the area this month, but casualties were luckily avoided. Last month, the area saw one of the deadliest Ukrainian cross-border strikes since the outbreak of the conflict. The shelling of Suzemka village from a multiple rocket launcher left four civilians dead and two wounded.

In March, a group of gunmen crossed the border from Ukraine before attacking civilians and planting explosive devices in settlements in the area. Two people were killed and a ten-year-old boy wounded in that incursion.

The Ukrainian regime openly threatens Europe with terrorist attacks and war, if the EU stops sending weapons to the Ukraine

May 14, 2023 7:44 am by IWB

Mykhailo Podolyak, Ukrainian politician, journalist and negotiator who works as an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine: “Mr. Borrell can say ‘we will stop sending arms to Ukraine’, but that would mean genocide in Ukraine and the war would start in other countries. The number of terrorist attacks in Europe would increase significantly. In general, we will not sit quietly eating croissants in restaurants in Europe.”

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which is centered out of Ramstein Air Base, is an alliance of 54 countries supporting Ukraine militarily against Russia.
In a new press briefing marking the 12th meeting of the group, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin revealed the total tally of funds and military aid pumped into Kiev. “In total, the Contact Group has committed nearly $65 billion in security assistance,” while stressing the Western allies are “as united as ever.” This total figure is separate from the Washington overall commitment as far as Ukraine aid goes, which is even larger.

This already huge figure is about to leap significantly higher, given that as Austin said,
“And, last week, President Biden announced that the United States will support a joint effort with our allies and partners to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation aircraft, including F-16s. We hope this training will begin in the coming weeks.”
DoD image. Lloyd Austin Press Briefing

The Pentagon chief then thanked Denmark and the Netherlands for this week stepping up to lead European coalition in providing F-16 training for Ukrainian pilots. The program is expected to take multiple months to up to a year or more.
“In the coming weeks, my Dutch and Danish counterparts will work with the United States and other allies to develop a training framework,” Austin said. “Norway, Belgium, Portugal and Poland have already offered to contribute to training, and we expect more countries to join this important initiative soon.”
Austin further emphasized that the United States is “committed to standing with Ukraine for the long haul.” He also announced a new commitment to provide Kiev with “additional air-defense systems and munitions” which will be “crucial” for “protecting Ukraine’s skies and civilian infrastructure from Russia’s assault.”
Additionally, US Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Mark Milley explained that F-16’s won’t act as a “magic weapon” against the superior armed Russian air force:
“The Russians have 1,000 fourth-generation fighters… If you’re gonna contest Russia in the air, you’re gonna need a substantial amount of fourth and fifth generation fighters, so if you look at the cost curve and do the analysis, the smartest thing to have done is exactly what we did do, which is provide a significant amount of integrated air defenses to cover the battlespace and deny the Russians the airspace.”
He previewed that a sustained program will run into the billions more….
“So, you’re talking about $2 billion for 10 aircraft,” he said. “The Russians have thousands of fourth- and fifth-generation fighters. So, if you’re going to contest Russia in the air, you’re going to need a substantial amount of fourth- and fifth-generation fighters. If you look at the cost curve and do the analysis, the smartest thing to have done is exactly what we did do, which is provide a significant amount of integrated air defense to cover the battlespace and deny the Russians the airspace. And that is exactly what happened.”
For the future, F-16s have a role, the general said. But it is “going to take a considerable length of time to build up an air force that’s the size and scope and scale that’ll be necessary.”
Already, some of these same Pentagon officials predicted the war will drag on for “years”. On Friday, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev was quoted in Russian media as saying the war will last “decades, probably”.

Ukraine Forces Sustain Horrific Casualties

by Moon of Alabama | Jun 7, 2023

Introduction – June 7, 2023

War is an ugly affair and politics aside, one’s heart goes out to the young Ukrainian conscripts who are caught up in the slaughter.
The real criminals in this are the politicians in Washington and London who are fueling the conflict in Ukraine with billions in arms and ordnance. In their efforts to sustain the war they are being ably assisted by the western mainstream media, which persistently misrepresents what is happening on the ground.
This is being done to deceive the Western public and ensure the continued supply of arms and ordnance to Ukraine. What they don’t show is the full horrific consequences of this ‘aid’.
In one night alone during the counteroffensive Ukrainian forces sustained over a thousand dead, and that’s our conservative estimate. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense Ukraine lost over 3,700 men and 50 tanks during the opening days of its counteroffensive. Unfortunately we cannot provide a link to substantiate this because Russian outlets that are reporting it are being systematically censored in the West.
That’s why you won’t see videos like the one linked here on your nightly TV news. It shows the ugly reality of the war the West is supporting. We aren’t showing it because it is really horrific but it brings home what Western arms are helping prolong.
Warning: graphic video.
Instead the Western mainstream media continues to feed the public lies and propaganda about the war and that makes them complicit in war crimes. Ed.

No – Such Propaganda Delusions Will Not Win The War

Moon of Alabama – June 7, 2023

I do not know what Washington Post columnist David Ignatius or the Biden administration officials he is talking to are smoking, but it must be extraordinary strong stuff:
Administration officials were encouraged by better-than-expected progress Monday, as Ukrainian units pushed through heavily mined areas to advance between five and 10 kilometers in some areas of the long front. That raised hopes that Ukrainian forces can keep thrusting toward Mariupol, Melitopol and other Russian-held places along the coast — severing the land bridge.
The ‘thrust’ was against a small Russian held salient in the front line near Velyka Novosilka at the center of this map.
Zooming in we see the current frontline as depicted by the Ukraine friendly LiveUAmap.
