Four Dothan, Alabama teenagers and a 20-year-old man continue to be held in the Houston County Jail nearly a week after their arrests on armed robbery charges in two separate cases.

Houston County Sheriff’s investigators arrested the group of people last Thursday, two days after they were arrested by Dothan police for an armed robbery in a Wal-Mart parking lot. The group of five people are all charged two armed robberies that happened on Jan. 11.

The following people face two counts of first-degree robbery: Cordarius Dewayne Hill, 20, of Edgewood Drive, Tyrone Antwan Salter, 17, of Virginia Drive, Damitri Vasquez Young, 17, of Jerome Court, Antonio Rashad Johnson, 17, and Shonqueze Tyrell Franklin, 17, of Ussery Street.

Sheriff’s Capt. Antonio Gonzalez said the county charges were part of a joint investigation with the Dothan Police Department.

Police first charged the group with stealing a woman’s purse in the northside Wal-Mart parking at gunpoint. Police said the woman was struck on the head with a handgun. Gonzalez said the group was charged with committing the second robbery at a Kinsey apartment complex after the Wal-Mart incident.

Court records show deputies charged all five people with robbing a woman of her cell phone and keys while at least one of them was armed with an air pistol.

Hill is being held at the Houston County Jail on a total bond of $230,000. Salter, Young, Johnson and Franklin remain held at the jail on a $130,000 bond.

All five people face 10 to 99 years or life in prison if convicted of the class A felony, first-degree robbery.

Hill has been charged with armed robbery on two other occasions, but was found not guilty on one charge and the second was dropped.
