Hunter Biden partner Rob Walker confirms payments to Biden family, China deal began when Joe was VP

Walker was closely involved with Hunter Biden's initial dealings with CEFC China Energy, the same company that sent millions to the Biden family.

Hunter Biden associate Rob Walker appeared for a transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee Friday as the latest witness in the impeachment inquiry and weeks before Hunter Biden is set to testify.

According to a source familiar with Walker’s testimony, he confirmed reports that Hunter Biden’s work for the Chinese energy company CEFC began while Joe Biden was still Vice President, in 2015.

In December, Just the News reported that the impeachment inquiry had assembled a growing body of evidence that Hunter’s work with the Chinese energy company started years before its million dollar payments began to flow into the Biden family coffers in 2017, following Joe Biden’s departure from office.

“Today we learned that Joe Biden met with the now-missing Chairman of CEFC, Ye Jianming, as Hunter Biden and his associates received $3 million from a Chinese entity CEFC controlled. Evidence continues to reveal the Bidens sold the ‘Biden Brand’ to enrich the Biden family," Oversight Chairman James Comer said in a statement released by the Oversight Committee.

"Today’s interview confirmed Hunter Biden and his associates’ work with the Chinese government-linked energy company began over a year before Joe Biden left the vice presidency, but the Bidens and their associates held off being paid by the Chinese while Joe Biden was in office," he continued.

"The Chinese company paid Hunter Biden and his associates $3 million shortly after Joe Biden left office as a ‘thank you’ for the work they did while Joe Biden was in office. Members of the Biden family received payments from the Chinese deal even though they did not work on it. This is the type of swampy influence peddling the American people want us to end," Comer said.

The relationship between James Biden, Hunter Biden, Ye, and other partners resulted in at least $9 million in payments to Biden-connected companies in 2017 alone after Joe Biden returned to private life.

The payments included a $3 million “thank you” in March 2017, a $5 million loan in August 2017, and a $1 million legal retainer fee to Hunter Biden from CEFC official Patrick Ho after he was indicted on bribery charges, according to documents gathered by Congress and federal prosecutors.

Yet, evidence from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop and FBI interviews with Biden business partners provided to Congress show that the relationship dates back to at least 2015 and 2016.

One email from Rob Walker to another of Hunter Biden’s business partners referenced an apparent letter from Hunter to Zang Jianjun, the executive director of CEFC China Energy, who worked directly for its founder and Chairman Ye Jianming.

In an interview with the FBI, Walker told investigators that he recalls two meetings that Vice President Biden had with CEFC officials, one after leaving office in 2017 and another while he was still in office. The interview was provided by IRS Whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler to the House Ways and Means Committee in their probe of the IRS and DOJ investigation into Hunter Biden.

“Any times when he was in office or did you hear Hunter say that he was setting up a meeting with his dad with them (CEFC) while dad was still in office?” an FBI agent asked Walker.

“Yeah,” Walker responded. After this admission, the investigators inexplicably changed course and did not follow up on what Walker had just told them.

Walker’s account matches that of Tony Bobulinski, another Biden business partner who was involved in the early stages of the CEFC relationship. Statements that Bobulinski gave the FBI place the first stages of the relationship in 2015-16 with payments delayed until 2017, when Joe Biden had left office.

Rob Walker also provided further evidence that Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings were a way to enrich his family members.

According to a source familiar with the testimony, Walker said that Hunter Biden told him to forward funds from the CEFC to his uncle, James Biden, and his sister-in-law, Hallie Biden, despite neither of them working for CEFC with Hunter.

Previously, the Oversight Committee traced funds from CEFC that ultimately ended up in Joe Biden’s bank account through his brother, James.

According to a previous committee memo, Northern International Capital, a Chinese company connected to CEFC, sent $5 million in August 2017 to Hunter Biden's company. Later that month, Hunter Biden wired $150,000 to Lion Hall Group, a company owned by Biden's brother, James Biden, and his sister-in-law Sara Biden, evidence shows.

Days later, Sara Biden took out $50,000 in cash from Lion Hall Group and then deposited it into her and James Biden's personal account that same day. The following week, Sara Biden sent a $40,000 check to Joe Biden marked as a "loan repayment.”

According to a source familiar with the testimony, Walker reportedly made excuses for Joe Biden’s apparent involvement in the CEFC deal, despite texts from former business partner Tony Bobulinski that appear to show otherwise, Just the News has learned.

In his opening statement, Walker reportedly told the committee that “President Biden - while in office or as a private citizen - was never involved in any of the business activities we pursued. Any statement to the contrary is simply false. Hunter made sure there was always a clear boundary between any business and his father. Always. And as his partner, I always understood and respected that boundary.”

Yet, text messages provided to the FBI by Tony Bobulinski show that Hunter Biden invoked his father’s name with his partners on multiple occasions. One partner even indicated that Hunter Biden may hold an equity stake for his father in their venture.

In one instance, Hunter referred to his father as the chairman. “When he said his chairman he was talking about his dad,” Rob Walker said in a text message to Bobulinski.

The New York Post also previously reported on an email where the business partners discussed the corporate structure of their new venture with CEFC which included a share of the equity held by Hunter Biden specifically for his father.

“At the moment there s [sic] a provisional agreement that the equity will be distributed as follows,” the email from partner James Gilliar to Bobulinski, Biden, and Walker reads.

At the end of the list, the email reads: “10 held by H for the big guy ?” This email shows that the partners were actively considering Joe Biden’s involvement in the venture, even if this arrangement was never consummated.

After initially defying congressional subpoenas, and holding a photo-op appearance at the Capitol, Hunter Biden ultimately reversed course and agreed to sit for a transcribed interview with the committees conducting the impeachment inquiry. The closed-door testimony is scheduled for February 28.

Biden is expected to be asked questions about the foreign payments to his family as well as if his father was indeed involved in any of his deals.

“The Committees on Oversight and Accountability, Judiciary, and Ways and Means will continue to follow the facts to inform the impeachment inquiry and legislative solutions. We look forward to releasing the transcript from today’s interview soon," Comer said in his statement after Walker's interview.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., labeled the ongoing investigation into President Joe Biden as "the biggest political corruption scandal in my lifetime" on Friday, emphasizing concerns about public corruption and influence peddling.
On Newsmax's "Eric Bolling The Balance," Comer stated, "We believe they're on the take."
He highlighted discrepancies in Biden's statements regarding the investigated documents, stressing the importance of obtaining accurate transcripts and specific materials central to the inquiry.

Comer criticized media silence regarding demands for transcript releases related to the Biden investigation, alleging bias in coverage. He asserted, "The media is not saying anything about demanding to turn over the transcripts of this interview because they know this is the interview from hell for Joe Biden."
The chair vowed to secure the transcripts, having already initiated the necessary steps to acquire them.
In response to inquiries about the investigation's origins, Comer credited the House Oversight Committee for launching the inquiry into "Biden's mishandling of classified documents." However, he expressed skepticism toward appointing special counsel Robert Hur, a one-time U.S. attorney appointed by former President Donald Trump, by Attorney General Merrick Garland, suggesting the appointment aimed to "protect" Biden from congressional scrutiny.
Comer clarified that the investigation primarily focused on suspected document mishandling involving China and Ukraine. He referenced the special counsel's report findings indicating cognitive decline in the president while emphasizing the relevance of emails and documents tied to the two countries, framing them as pivotal to understanding the investigation's core objectives.
"We weren't investigating Joe Biden for mishandling classified documents because he was old and senile, he said. "We were investigating because we suspected that he had documents in there from China and Ukraine. Now, what the report came out and said obviously talked about his cognitive decline that we've all seen."
"But it [the report] also mentioned, he added, different emails and documents in there that did pertain to Ukraine and China. That's the whole basis of our investigation because of all the money his family's taken from those two adversarial countries."

It has been a constant refrain among defenders of President Joe Biden that his family benefiting from foreign influence-peddling abroad took place without his knowledge and participation.
A new report from Politico, as establishment a publication as one can find, shatters that already precarious defense.
While the president’s defenders have often pointed to Joe Biden’s involvement in the troubled affairs of his son Hunter Biden as illustrating a case of a father’s love, rather than the aiding and abetting of illicit activity that compromises national security, the new report involves a different and often-overlooked person in the Biden corruption scandal: The president’s brother, James Biden.
The Politico report comes ahead of an expected interview of James Biden on Feb. 21. The critical implication of the report is the “central” involvement of Joe Biden in his brother’s scheme to profit off a troubled medical conglomerate, now bankrupt, called Americore.

As the layers of activity that occurred in and around Americore are peeled back in a federal prosecution in Pennsylvania, a bankruptcy court in Kentucky, and tense witness interviews on Capitol Hill, a POLITICO investigation renders the most detailed picture to date of the ways in which Joe Biden’s relatives leveraged his public stature to advance a private business venture.

The investigation — based on public records, court filings, dozens of interviews and hundreds of exclusively obtained internal documents — reveals that Jim Biden’s role at Americore was larger than previously reported: In some internal documents and investor materials his name is included among its top handful of leaders. He also helped the company seal regulatory approval to acquire the Pennsylvania hospital and personally fired Americore’s chief financial officer, according to the emails obtained by POLITICO.
Documents obtained by Politico show that there was extensive participation by Joe Biden and his family’s inner circle in Americore, which is under federal investigation for allegedly fraudulent operations.
This Americore involvement included Jim Biden, his wife Sara, his son Jamie, Hunter Biden, and Joe Biden himself.
The investigation also reveals that Joe Biden’s name and inner circle were more involved with the company than has been understood: In addition to the accounts provided by former executives, investor materials described Jim Biden as an adviser to his older brother. And on top of Joe Biden’s own previously reported encounter with the firm’s CEO, at least three of Joe Biden’s relatives did work with Americore. They include Jim Biden’s wife, Sara, and his son, Jamie. The president’s son, Hunter Biden also met with its CEO, and his personal doctor — current White House physician Kevin O’Connor — joined a meeting with Jim Biden and the president of a hospital being acquired by Americore, according to a former executive and emails obtained by POLITICO.
The most damning paragraphs of Politico’s report indicate that Joe Biden’s name was a “central element” of Jim Biden’s pitch to potential partners and investors.
While the extent to which Joe Biden’s relatives have invoked their ties to him to advance their business careers has been a subject of ongoing controversy, the documents obtained by POLITICO demonstrate that Joe Biden was a central element of Jim Biden’s pitch to potential partners and investors during this period.
None of these Biden family members would answer specific questions related to Americore. The White House did not respond to detailed requests for comment.
This is relevant in the context of a “$200,000 direct payment from James and Sara Biden to Joe Biden in the form of a personal check,” released by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) in October.
“In 2018, James Biden received $600,000 in loans from, Americore—a financially distressed and failing rural hospital operator,” press release stated. “According to bankruptcy court documents, James Biden received these loans ‘based upon representations that his last name, ‘Biden,’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based on his political connections’.”
“On March 1, 2018, Americore wired a $200,000 loan into James and Sara Biden’s personal bank account – not their business bank account,” the statement added. “On the same day, James Biden wrote a $200,000 check from this same personal bank account to Joe Biden.”
As reported by the Associated Press, James Biden’s lawyer has provided a now dubious defense for his client’s invocation of his brother Joe Biden in his business affairs.
“A lawyer for James Biden said at the time that there was no justification for the subpoena because the committee had already reviewed private bank records and transactions between the two brothers,” the AP reported. “The committee found records of two loans that were made when Joe Biden was not in office or a candidate for president.”
“There is nothing more to those transactions, and there is nothing wrong with them,” lawyer Paul Fishman said in a statement in November. “And Jim Biden has never involved his brother in his business dealings.”
This now appears to be patently false. Republicans are now pointing to the federal proceedings against Americore as yet more evidence of “influence peddling” by Biden’s family in their business dealings, particularly with foreign actors.
As noted by Politico’s report, James Biden heavily relied on reference to his brother, a former senator and former vice president at the time, to court Middle Eastern investors.
Jim Biden spoke of plans to give his brother equity in Americore, according to one former Americore executive, and install him on its board, according to a second. He also said that if Americore could find a winning business model for rural health care, his brother could promote the company in a future presidential campaign, a third former executive told POLITICO. All were granted anonymity to discuss a company mired in legal and political controversy
In order to fund Americore’s expansion, Jim Biden offered to secure capital from investors in the Middle East, according to the emails and executives. When the expected money did not arrive, it aggravated Americore’s preexisting financial issues. The company collapsed, leaving behind unpaid bills and neglected patients.
The human wreckage resulting from the Biden family’s exploitation of Joe Biden’s political connections for financial gain is a critical aspect of the story. Americore’s malfeasance not only lined the pockets of Biden family members, but it also devastated families that relied on the now-defunct medical provider to care for their loved ones in times of need.
Biden family corruption thus is not only a grave matter of national security, but it is also one of personal family tragedy for many Americans who were exposed to their unethical and potentially illegal activities.
