Notes From The Edge Of The Narrative Matrix

Listen to a reading of this article (reading by Tim Foley):

Israel raging at Hamas for killing Israelis is like a man raging at his shadow for darkening his floor. It’s maddening to see grown adults acting like Hamas are these foreign invaders who attacked Israelis out of the blue because of a hatred for Jewish people, like they’re internet-radicalized neo-Nazis from eastern Europe or something.
Hamas attacked Israel because Israel is a murderous and tyrannical apartheid regime who butchers children and makes lives miserable for the Palestinian people. The violence on October 7 was the echo of the violence Israel has been inflicting on Palestinians for generations. Only a fool gets angry at his echo for talking back to him.

Israel has done more to damage Israel’s image in the last seven weeks than anti-semites did in the last seven decades.

If you’ve ever wondered why society’s most famous and influential voices all have dogshit status quo politics, just look at the current purge of pro-Palestine actors in Hollywood. If your own elite class interests and having loyalty to your rich friends isn’t enough to keep you supporting the empire’s information interests, you’ll just get thrown out.
The influence which comes with celebrity status means you’ll become a threat to the establishment power structure if you start sharing ideas and information which go against its interests. That’s why there are so many safeguards in place to prevent that from happening. If you’re forcefully critical of US foreign policy you won’t be permitted to rise to celebrity status by the Hollywood gatekeepers who are responsible for US cultural hegemony and propaganda, and if you manage to sneak past the gatekeepers they’ll throw you right out on your ass when you make it clear you’re not a trustworthy empire loyalist.
This has created a system where all the most influential and highly amplified voices in western civilization are those who support the political status quo, while the normal people who suffer under that same status quo are left almost voiceless. This helps create the false impression that the system is working fine and no revolutionary changes are needed, because all the most visible people are saying things are peachy.

Fun challenge: try to name a famous westerner that forcefully and consistently criticizes US foreign policy who never gets accused of being an anti-semite and/or a Russian agent.

One of the most evil things Trump did while in office was trying to cripple humanitarian aid to Yemen by designating Ansarallah a “terrorist” organization. Now Biden is considering the same action.

The claim that supporting Israel doesn’t serve US interests is both true and false, depending on how you mean it. It’s arguably true that it doesn’t serve the American people and doesn’t help the US as a nation, but it most certainly serves the interests of the US empire.
There are absolutely arguments to be made that the American people don’t benefit from their nation’s wealth being continuously poured into a foreign state and that the US doesn’t benefit as a nation from backing nonstop aggression and militarism in the middle east, but there’s no way to argue that it doesn’t serve the globe-spanning power structure that is loosely centralized around Washington.
If the US was a normal country minding its own affairs and caring for its own people it would indeed be nonsensical for it to invest so much wealth and resources in Israel, but the US is as far from a normal country as can be. It’s the hub of a vast, undeclared empire made up of allies, client states, proxies, and systems of military, economic and financial coercion which keeps most of the world moving in accordance with the wishes of the empire managers.
History has shown us that this power structure can only be maintained by endless violence, threats, coercion, mass-scale psychological manipulation in the form of propaganda, and fear of nuclear annihilation. As a reliably US-aligned nuclear power which is intimately interwoven with the western war machine and the US intelligence cartel, Israel may not serve the interests of the people who live in the United States, but it is an absolutely indispensable component of the US empire.
Biden wasn’t fully lying when he said “Were there not an Israel the United States would have to invent an Israel to protect her interests in the region.” He’s just telling a half-truth, because by “the United States” he means the US empire, not the US as a nation.

People always bitch and moan when I say Gen Z are just plain better people than all previous generations, but these last seven weeks have provided a lot of evidence for my position.

You’re always hearing that Hamas has proven it cannot be allowed to remain in control of Gaza, when you should be hearing that the Israeli regime has proven it cannot be allowed to remain in control of Palestine.

Part I
Provides photographic evidence of Israel’s bombing campaign, which confirms the criminal nature of Israel’s attack on Gaza. More than 20,000 civilians have been killed.
Part II
Focusses on “Option C” of Israel’s “Secret” Intelligence Memorandum, which was endorsed by the Netanyahu government. Option C. defines Netanyahu’s criminal agenda directed against the People of Palestine:
“It recommends a full population transfer as its preferred course of action. …”
I should mention that the Intelligence Memorandum was leaked and made public. No doubt there are several classified military intelligence documents which are not intended for release.
Option C defines the framework of the operation directed against the People of Palestine, with the full support of the U.S. and NATO.
It consists in “the evacuation of the civilian population from Gaza to Sinai.”

Israel’s Secret Intelligence Memorandum

“Option C”

by

Michel Chossudovsky

The above drone footage as well as photographic evidence confirm Netanyahu’s criminal undertaking. It’s genocide. The underlying modalities are confirmed in an official “secret” memorandum of Israel’s Ministry of Intelligence. Washington is fully supportive of this military-intelligence operation.
Both US and British Operation Forces are collaborating with the I.D.F. (See this)
The 10 page document recommends “the forcible and permanent transfer of the Gaza Strip’s 2.2 million Palestinian residents to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula”, namely to a refugee camp in Egyptian territory. There are indications of Israel-Egypt negotiations as well as routine consultations with U.S. intelligence.
In this review, we provide selected excerpts and analysis pertaining to Israel’s Ministry of Intelligence “Option C” which is currently being carried out.
Option C consists in “the evacuation of the civilian population from Gaza to Sinai”.

Israel’s Intelligence Memorandum

“… assesses three options regarding the future of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip … It recommends a full population transfer as its preferred course of action. …”
The released document, the authenticity of which was confirmed by the Ministry of Intelligence, has been translated into English.

The 10-page document, dated Oct. 13, 2023, bears the logo of the Intelligence Ministry.
Israeli Intelligence Ministry Policy Paper On Gaza’s Civilian Population, October 2023.
The following is an unofficial translation by +972 Magazine. [Emphasis added in bold. Option C is already ongoing]

Israel’s Intelligence Memorandum, Selected Excerpts

1. The State of Israel is required to bring about a significant change in the civilian reality in the Gaza Strip in light of the Hamas crimes that led to the “Iron Swords” war, therefore it must decide on a political objective regarding the civilian population in Gaza, which should be pursued concurrently with the overthrow of the Hamas regime.
2. The objective defined by the government requires intensive action to harness the United States and other countries to support this goal.
3. Fundamental guidelines for every policy [A, B, C]:
a. Overthrow of Hamas’ rule.
b. Evacuation of the population outside of the combat zone for the benefit of the citizens of the Gaza Strip.
c. It is necessary to plan for and channel international aid to reach the area in accordance with the chosen policy.
d. In every policy, it is necessary to carry out a deep process of implementing an ideological change (de-Nazification).
e. The selected policy will support the state’s political goal regarding the future of the Gaza Strip and the final picture of the war.
In this document, three possible options [A, B, and C] will be presented as a policy of the political echelon in Israel regarding the future of the civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
[Option C below is the recommended and chosen Option of the Memorandum which is currently being implemented.]

The Memorandum’s “Option C”

The evacuation of the civilian population from Gaza to Sinai.
Option C
– The option that will yield positive, long-term strategic outcomes for Israel, and is an executable option.
It requires determination from the political echelon in the face of international pressure, with an emphasis on harnessing the support of the United States and additional pro-Israeli countries for the endeavor.
At first glance, this option, involving significant population displacement, may present challenges in terms of international legitimacy.
Operational

1. A call for the evacuation of the non-combatant population from the combat zone of the Hamas attack.

2. In the first stage, operations from the air with a focus on the north of Gaza to allow a ground invasion in an area that is already evacuated and does not require fighting in a densely populated civilian area.

3. In the second stage, a gradual ground invasion of the territory in the north and along the border until the occupation of the entire Strip and cleansing of the underground bunkers of Hamas fighters.

4. The ground invasion stage will be less time-consuming compared to options A and B and therefore will reduce the exposure time to opening the northern front simultaneously with the fighting in Gaza.

5. It is important to leave the travel routes to the south open to enable the evacuation of the civilian population toward Rafah.
International/legal legitimacy
In our assessment, post-evacuation combat is likely to result in fewer casualties among the civilian population compared to the expected casualties if the population remains (as presented in options A and B).
a. This is a defensive war against a terrorist organization that conducted a military invasion into Israel. [false flag justification]
b. The demand for the evacuation of the non-combatant population from the area is a widely accepted method that saves lives, and it was the approach used by the Americans in Iraq in 2003.
c. Egypt has an obligation under international law to allow the passage of the population.

6. Israel must act to promote a broad diplomatic initiative aimed at countries that will support assisting the displaced population and agree to absorb them as refugees.

7. A list of countries that are suitable for this initiative can be found in Appendix A to this document.

8. In the long run, this option will gain broader legitimacy because it involves a population that will be integrated within a state framework with citizenship.

US Rep. Mast, a Former IDF Soldier, Says Palestinian Babies Killed in Gaza Are Not ‘Innocent Civilians’

Mast made the comments when confronted by activists from Code Pink

Members of the antiwar activist group Code Pink confronted Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), a former member of the Israeli Defense Forces, about the Palestinian babies being killed by Israel in Gaza. Mast told them the babies were not innocent.
Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink, asked Mast, “You haven’t seen the pictures of all the babies being killed?”
Mast replied, “These are not innocent Palestinian civilians across the world.”
Another activist asked about the 500,000 Palestinians who are starving in the Gaza Strip. “The half a million people starving to death are people that should go out there and put a government in place that doesn’t go out there and attack Israel on a daily basis,” Mast said.

The congressman was also asked about the sheer destruction caused by the Israeli bombing campaign, which is comparable to the Allied strategic bombing campaigns of World War II.
“They’ve destroyed more infrastructure in Gaza than they did in Dresden,” during World War II, one activist said. Mast replied, “And there’s more infrastructure that needs to be destroyed.”
Mast previously invoked World War II to justify Israel’s slaughter in Gaza, which has killed over 27,000 Palestinians. “I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Palestinian civilians, as frequently said,” he said on the House floor in November. “I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”

In October, Mast wore his IDF uniform on Capitol Hill. “As the only member to serve with both the United States Army and the Israel Defense Forces, I will always stand with Israel,” he wrote on X at the time.

Unless Israel changes course, it could be legally culpable for mass starvation

Gaza is on the brink of famine. If the US and UK fail to use every possible lever to stop the catastrophe, they will be complicit
Wed 31 Jan 2024 06.01 EST

Gaza is experiencing mass starvation like no other in recent history. Before the outbreak of fighting in October, food security in Gaza was precarious, but very few children – less than 1% – suffered severe acute malnutrition, the most dangerous kind. Today, almost all Gazans, of any age, anywhere in the territory, are at risk.
There is no instance since the second world war in which an entire population has been reduced to extreme hunger and destitution with such speed. And there’s no case in which the international obligation to stop it has been so clear.

These facts underpinned South Africa’s recent case against Israel at the international court of justice. The international genocide convention, article 2c, prohibits “deliberately inflicting [on a group] conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part”.

In ordering provisional measures to prevent potential genocide last Friday, the ICJ didn’t rule on whether Israel is actually committing genocide – that will take years of deliberation – but the judges made it clear that the people of Gaza face “conditions of life” in which their survival is in question. Even Justice Aharon Barak, appointed by Israel to sit on the panel, voted in favour of immediate humanitarian relief.
But a humanitarian disaster such as Gaza’s today is like a speeding freight train. Even if the driver puts on the brakes, its momentum will take it many miles before it stops. Palestinian children in Gaza will die, in the thousands, even if the barriers to aid are lifted today.
Starvation is a process. Famine can be its ultimate outcome, unless stopped in time. The methodology used to categorize food emergencies is called the integrated food security phase classification system, or IPC. It’s a five-point scale, running from normal (phase 1), stressed, crisis, and emergency, to catastrophe/famine (phase 5).
In categorizing food emergencies, the IPC draws on three measurements: families’ access to food; child malnutrition; and the numbers of people dying over and above normal rates. “Emergency” (phase 4) already sees children dying. For a famine declaration, all three measures need to pass a certain threshold; if only one is in that zone, it’s “catastrophe”.
The IPC’s famine review committee is an independent group of experts who assess evidence for the most extreme food crises, akin to a high court of the world humanitarian system. The committee has already assessed that the entirety of Gaza is under conditions of “emergency”. Many areas in the territory are already in “catastrophe”, it said, and might reach “famine” by early February.
Yet whether or not conditions are bad enough for an official declaration of “famine” is less important than the situation today, which is already killing children. Bear in mind that malnutrition makes humans’ immune systems more vulnerable to diseases sparked by lack of clean water and sanitation, and that those diseases are accelerated by overcrowding in unhealthy camps.
Since the IPC was adopted 20 years ago, there have been major food emergencies in Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia’s Tigray region, north-east Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Yemen. Compared to Gaza, these have unfolded slowly, over periods of a year or more. They have stricken larger populations spread over wider areas. Hundreds of thousands died, most of them in emergencies that didn’t cross the bar of famine.
And in the most notorious famines of the late 20th century – in China, Cambodia, Nigeria’s Biafra and Ethiopia – the numbers who died were far higher, but the starvation was also slower and more dispersed.
Never before Gaza have today’s humanitarian professionals seen such a high proportion of the population descend so rapidly towards catastrophe.
All modern famines are directly or indirectly man-made – sometimes by indifference to suffering or dysfunction, other times by war crimes, and in a few cases by genocide.
The Rome statute of the international criminal court, article 8(2)(b)(xxv), defines the war crime of starvation as “intentionally using starvation of civilians as a method of warfare by depriving them of objects indispensable to their survival, including wilfully impeding relief supplies as provided for under the Geneva conventions”.
The main element of the crime is destruction and deprivation, not just of food but of anything needed to sustain life, such as medicine, clean water and shelter. Legally speaking, starvation can constitute genocide or war crimes even if it doesn’t include outright famine. People don’t have to die of hunger; the act of deprivation is enough.
Many wars are starvation crime scenes. In Sudan and South Sudan, it’s widespread looting by marauding militia. In Ethiopia’s Tigray, farms, factories, schools and hospitals were vandalized and burned, far in excess of any military logic. In Yemen, most of the country was put under starvation blockade. In Syria, the regime besieged cities, demanding they “surrender or starve”.
The level of destruction of hospitals, water systems and housing in Gaza, as well as restrictions of trade, employment and aid, surpasses any of these cases.
It may be true, as Israel claims, that Hamas is using hospitals and residential neighbourhoods for its own war effort. But that doesn’t exonerate Israel. Much of Israel’s destruction of Gazan infrastructure appears to be away from zones of active combat and in excess of what is proportionate to military necessity.
The most extreme historical cases – such as Stalin’s Holodomor in Ukraine in the 1930s and the Nazi “hunger plan” on the eastern front during the second world war – were genocidal famines at immense scale. Gaza doesn’t approach these, but Israel will need to act decisively if it is to escape the charge of having used hunger to exterminate the Palestinians. Starvation is a massacre in slow motion. And unlike shooting or bombing, the dying continues for weeks even if killing is halted.
This is the challenge facing the UN security council when it will soon debate the ICJ’s provisional orders to Israel. Just allowing in aid and putting some restraints on Israel’s military action are not going to stop this thundering train of catastrophe quickly enough.
More than a month ago, the famine review committee wrote: “The cessation of hostilities and the restoration of humanitarian space to deliver this multi-sectoral assistance and restore services are essential first steps in eliminating any risk of famine.” In other words, an immediate end to fighting is essential to prevent a calamitous toll that may far exceed the numbers killed by violence.
That’s the operative line. For the survival of the people of Gaza today, it doesn’t matter whether Israel intends genocide or not. Unless Israel follows the famine relief committee recommendations, it will knowingly cause mass death by hunger and disease. That’s a starvation crime.
And if the US and UK fail to use every possible lever to stop the catastrophe, they will be complicit.
