Chicago Teens, Ages 16 and 13, Charged With Armed Robbery and Aggravated Battery

Two young suspects, a 16-year-old male and a 13-year-old female have been cuffed on charges of armed robbery in Chicago, authorities confirmed. The duo allegedly held up a 19-year-old female at gunpoint, forcibly stealing her property before the male suspect escalated the violence with a deadly weapon.
Taken into custody on Thursday at 5:07 p.m., the pair were apprehended shortly after the incident in the 6800 block of S. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Dr. The charges against the older offender include a felony count each for armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm, and aggravated battery using a deadly weapon. The female, being barely a teenager, has been slapped with a felony count for armed robbery and a misdemeanor count for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Found by officers responding to the victim's call, the suspects were quickly located and positively identified as the perpetrators of the crime, which occurred just twenty minutes before their arrest. The Chicago Police, after a brisk response, placed the juveniles into custody and subsequently charged them accordingly.
No additional information has been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the crime or the current status of the victim. The police, in a statement, indicated their investigation is ongoing.
