Afederal appeals court ruled Friday that some Jan. 6 defendants had their sentences lengthened improperly by judges in Washington, D.C.
This decision could potentially force District Court judges in D.C. to reduce some sentences of some of the rioters during the 2021 riot at the Capitol, according to Politico.
The federal appeals court ruled that the judges who lengthened the sentences of the defendants interfered in the “administration of justice.”
This decision was made by a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court.
Judges Patricia Millett and Cornelia Pillard are Obama appointees while Judge Judith Rogers was appointed by former President Bill Clinton.
