According to Illinois secretary of state and Will County Circuit Court records, Cervantes' license was revoked in April 1994 while a June 1993 charge of driving under the influence of alcohol was pending against him. In July 1994, his license expired, and he was convicted on the DUI charge in March 1995, the records state.

Cervantes also was arrested on a pr
or drunken driving charge in April 1987. He was sentenced to supervision in that case, the court records stated.

Cervantes never sought to overturn his license revocation or get a new license, the record
s indicate. They also indicate he was arrested four times for driving either on a suspended or revoked l
icense between 1987, when his license was suspended in connection with his first drunken driving charge, and 1998.
