FORTVILLE, Ind. -- Police credit a tip from a local florist with helping them find a missing Fortville girl with a 30-year-old man in Utah this week.
Authorities learned that the man, Sydney Moreno, of Reno, Nev., sent $150 worth of flowers and candy to 14-year-old Kelsey Haynes in March.
That information made investigators suspect that Haynes, who was reported missing on Friday, left with Moreno. Police then tracked him to Utah, where officers found the pair Monday night traveling on Interstate 80 near the state's border
ith Nevada, RTV6's Derrik Thomas reported.
Moreno (pictured, left), who police believe met Haynes on the Internet, was arrested and faces a felony charge of transportation of a minor.
Hayne
s, who was being held in a juvenile detention center in Utah, coul
d return to her father in Indiana within five days, Thomas reported.
"Today's my birthday, and I've had my birthday present," her father, Fletcher Haynes, said about learning that Kelsey was safe.
The florist, Brenda Murray, said she contacted police after hearing of Kelsey Haynes' disappearance. She gave police information about the March flower order, which she recalled after learning that the girl was missing.
"The concerns the father gave to me back in March when the flowers were delivered there -- he didn't know where they were from -- it just kind of all fell together when I saw her picture, the front of the house and her father on TV," said Murray, who owns Beautiful Beginnings
in Fortville.
Fletcher Haynes reported his daughter missing Friday. A note she left for him at home said she would be back and was with "great people."
Police said Kelsey Hayne
s le

hard drive was missing from her computer, Thomas reported.
