(Chico) - Chico Police say a 19 year old woman was raped while walking near Bidwell Park Monday night. Her attacker is still at large. Police say this appears to be a crime of opportunity rather than an acquaintance rape because the victim was walking late at night, alone, in a fairly-isolated area.
The attack happened along a bike path that runs behind the card center near the one-mile. Police say the suspect approached the victim, asking for a cigarette, then assaulted her. Enloe Me
ical Center notified police, after the victim sought treatment there.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 30's, about 5'7", with "gapped" front teeth

was wearing a black windbreaker, jeans, and a knit cap with a
chin strap. He also spoke with a foreign accent, possibly Jamaican. Anyone with information about the crime of course is urged to contact the Chico Police Department.
