Indianapolis, June 18 - An Indianapolis west side mother and her two young children escaped harm early Friday morning after a man broke into their two-story townhouse at the Villas of Oakbrook off Georgetown Road near 59th Street.
Investigators say it was an attempt to sexually assault the mother.
"She woke up, black male standing over her held her down,stated some obscenities, that he wanted some," says Marion County Sheriff's Captain Phil Burton.
Investigators say Melisa Digbie's infant baby and three-year-old were both sleeping in the bed with her when the man stood over her with a knife.
"She started screaming. S
e fought him somewhat, pushed him away and snatched off a nylon cap he wore as a mask. At that time he ran downstairs and ran out of the house."
Investigators are hoping someone might have seen

the suspect in the area right before the robbery on a bicycle. They
found the bike and tracks nearby.
Members of the sheriff's department collected fingerprints off the window the suspect broke into and the knife that he left behind.
He didn't leave empty handed though. Police say he stole $100 from Digbie's purse before running out the front door.
Digbie and her two children were not hurt in the altercation with the man.
Police are anxious to catch him though. They believe this is an isolated robbery, but can't rule out this suspect may strike again.
