Suspect Still On Loose
(Columbia) - A Richland County Sheriff's deputy is good condition after authorities say a car hit him during a sobriety check, but the man he was chasing is still on the run.
It happened at I-77 and Percival Road. A Highway Patrol spokesman says that Brett Hamilton was assisting troopers at the check.
Officials say Carlos Cruz, 25, ran on foot crossing the highway. That's when Hamilton went after Cruz and a car hit the officer dislocating his shoulder and breaking his leg.
