A 44-year-old Horn Lake woman was assaulted in her home early Thursday morning by an intruder who burned the woman with a cigarette and kicked her in the head.
Capt. Shannon Beshears said the woman, who was not identified, heard someone come through the door of her trailer at the Hill Top Trailer Park at 12:38 a.m. He said she thought it was her husband returning home from work and went into the living room where she confronted the suspect.
The man asked her are you Melinda to which she replied no. The suspect then walked toward the woman and punched her in the stomach, knocking her to the floor.
He then burned her several times on her arms with a cigarette and kicked her in the head. <
r>The suspect then took $10 from her purse and a computer printer and left the home.
She described the suspect as a burly Hispanic male about 6 feet tall and weighing about 240 pounds, said Behea

tim reported that he was dark completed and spoke good English. He was about 21 and 22 years of age and wearing a white t-shirt with an American flag on the front.
Beshears said the woman did not call 911 after the intruder left but instead called her daughter who came to the trailer. They then called the woman's husband who came home and took her to Baptist-DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.
Beshears said the woman was not seriously injured and was treated and released.
We have not made an arrest but we are following up on several leads at this time, said Beshears.
He said the suspect will be charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, burglary and petty larceny.
