FREMONT — She's done it again, authorities say.
A female bank robber wearing large sunglasses and armed with a gun robbed another bank Friday morning, the second in Fremont this week and the fourth in the area this month.
The shegro — who is being sought in five crimes this month, including an attempted robbery in Hayward — went to the Chase bank at Capitol and Walnut avenues about 9:20 a.m. and took an undisclosed amount of cash, Detective Bill Veteran said.
Police said she fled in a white or gray Jeep Cherokee, the same type of vehicle that was used in the first Fremont bank robbery April 2, he said.
Witnesses said the robber in Friday's case stood about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and had shoulder-length weave. She wore gloves, a black jacket and jeans, Veteran said. In the past cases, the robber has been described as a black woman about 30 to 40 years old, standing 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5.
In some cases the
robber has been described as wearing a wig, but in each incident the woman has worn oversized sunglasses.
Police believe the woman is responsible for three robberies in Fremont, one in Newark and one in Hayward. "(A robber) can only be so prolific before they get caught," Veteran said.
Authorities also are investigating a report she was casing another bank on Tuesday, less than an hour before she robbed an HSBC Bank branch at Fremont Boulevard and Walnut Avenue. Anyone with information may call police .
