A right-wing protester was killed in a violent confrontation that took place amid dueling protests in downtown Denver, Colorado, Saturday, and a private security guard, hired by a local news organization, is being held on murder charges.

The incident, 9News Denver reports, took place as a “Patriot Rally” and an “Antifa/BLM Soup Drive” faced off near the Denver Civic Center late Saturday afternoon. Although both protests began peacefully, tensions quickly escalated between the opposing groups — tensions which eventually led to the deadly shooting.

According to witnesses, Antifa/BLM protesters were engaging in a war of words with Patriot Rally attendees when a Patriot Rally marcher, apparently concerned for his own safety, deployed a can of “bear spray” against another individual, who was providing private security for the 9News crew on the ground covering the events. The security guard fired at the Patriot Rally protester in response, killing him.

“A private security guard is being held as a suspect in a deadly shooting near the Denver Art Museum, according to the Denver Police Department (DPD),” 9News, the organization that hired the private security firm, wrote Sunday. “The private security guard in custody was contracted through Pinkerton by 9NEWS. It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests.”

The outlet notes that “DPD originally took two people into custody and later found the second individual, a 9NEWS producer who works in the investigative unit, was not involved in the incident. The producer is no longer in police custody and is not a suspect.”

The shooter was originally identified as being an Antifa/BLM protester, but those reports turned out to be false. Neither the police nor 9News has released identifying information about the shooter other than to note he was hired to provide security and was on the job when the deadly incident happened. Internet sleuths were working hard throughout the night to uncover names and affiliations, but none of their discoveries have been confirmed.

Denver Police were able to piece together the incident using security footage. The victim was shot in the head and was transported to a hospital where he later died.

Both groups present for the event initially said they planned non-violent demonstrations, but both acknowledged that the dueling protests could turn violent. The Patriot Rally was scheduled to take place first; the BLM/Antifa “soup drive,” heavily advertised on social media, was designed to “drown out” the earlier event.

Denver Police warned rally-goers early Saturday that violence by either party would not be tolerated.

“The Denver Police Department respects the right to peacefully assemble,” the police department said in a statement. “Those who participate in protests, demonstrations, marches, or other gatherings, as protected by the First Amendment, are reminded to do so in a lawful manner. Individuals who choose to act outside of local, state, and federal law, will be subject to citation or arrest.”

This is at least the third violence incident to take place following a confrontation between suspected members of “Antifa” and “patriotic” protesters. Three people were killed in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last month after violence broke out between anti-racism demonstrators and an armed teenager who had traveled to the state to help protected targeted property. A Trump supporter was stalked, attacked, and killed by a self-described member of Antifa after dueling rallies in Portland last month.

Denver police have arrested a private security guard working for a television crew on suspicion of murder after he shot and killed a man believed to be part of a 'Patriot Muster' rally outside the Denver Art Museum.

The Patriot Muster protester maced the security guard, who then pulled out his handgun and shot him dead, the Denver Post reported - with their photographer capturing the moment in an astonishing image.

Denver Police Department (DPD) confirmed on Saturday night the profession of the shooter, and that he had no affiliation with the Patriot Muster's rival BLM-Antifa protesters.

The security guard was working for 9News.

'A 9NEWS employee and a 9NEWS contractor were taken into custody,' the channel stated, saying that the second of the two people was not connected to the shooting.

'The private security guard was contracted through Pinkerton by 9NEWS. It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to hire private security to accompany staff at protests.'

The security guard fell to his knees and immediately surrendered after fatally shooting the man who maced him

Police had deployed in large numbers for Saturday's rival rallies, and at the sound of gunshot, at 3:37pm local time, they rushed to the scene.

The security guard still had his handgun in his grasp, and as the riot police swarmed him, guns pointed, he fell to his knees, hands above his head, and dropped the weapon.

He was arrested, along with a second person, who was later deemed to be unconnected to the shooting.

The victim was reportedly shot at point-blank range and was taken to a hospital where he later died, Joe Montoya, chief of DPD's investigations division, said at a news conference on Saturday evening.

'There was a verbal altercation that transpired at the area of the shooting,' he said, declining to connect the gunman and the victim with the protests until the police finished their investigation.

Two guns were recovered at the scene, he said.

'Officers are investigating a shooting that occurred in the Courtyard by the Art Museum,' Denver Police Department (DPD) tweeted.

'This shooting is now being investigated as a Homicide,' they confirmed.

This is the moment the alleged gunman is arrested moments after he reportedly shot dead a Patriot Muster member who maced him in the face. A gun can clearly be seen to the right of the protester

Police detained the gunmen and several other people following the shooting in Denver on Saturday afternoon

The victim, believed to be attending a Patriot Muster rally, was shot and killed following an argument with a security guard

+Paramedics took the victim to hospital where on Saturday afternoon he was declared dead

Both the victim and the gunman were white men, Chief Montoya said. They were not publicly identified by the authorities.

Richard Johnson, who witnessed the shooting, told CBS4 he saw nothing leading up to it that was out of the ordinary.

'I'm wondering what possible explanation there could be,' he said.

'There didn't seem to be any altercation, there wasn't any yelling coming from that way, the victim didn't seem to be advancing on him in a menacing way.

'He is a large man. But I suspect when this all shakes out it may be something other than what we might think at first.'

Rival rallies had been called for Saturday afternoon by the two opposing groups.

Officers rushed to the scene of the shooting, near the Civic Center, and formed a cordon around the dead man until ambulances arrived

Denver has seen a series of tense protests and counter protests this summer.

A masked protester burnt the Back the Blue flag

On July 20 a 'Back the Blue' rally organized by local media personality John Tiegen, an ex-Marine and Blackwater private security guard, descended into chaos as Tiegen's sympathizers were met by left-wing counterprotesters.

On Saturday, as with the previous weekend, the right-leaning protesters were inside the amphitheater area while the left-leaning protestors were outside.

One member of the BLM-Antifa crowd burnt the blue-colored Stars and Stripes flag used by pro-police groups, pouring lighter fluid over it and setting it ablaze at the feet of the DPD officers.

Large numbers of officers attempted to keep the two sides apart.

Police were not letting anyone else into amphitheater area, but by 3:30pm, the Denver Post reported, the barrier appeared to be coming down.

Police fired what appeared to be pepper balls into the crowd, after people from the leftist group started rattling the barrier headed into the amphitheater.

Tiegen had summoned his followers to a 2pm 'Patriot Muster' in the Civic Center park with the slogan: 'Stand up, show up.'

The slogan bore similarities to Donald Trump's response when asked to condemn white supremacists and the Proud Boys. Instead of disavowing them he said: 'Stand back and stand by'.

'Join myself and hundreds of fellow Patriot Americans for a Muster at Civic Center Park 2pm sharp,' he wrote on Instagram.

'Don't let the communists, socialist party and groups intimidate or Oppress you any longer! Come join us and be heard & seen and celebrate OUR freedoms.'

BLM-Antifa organized their own rally in the same spot, at 1:30pm - telling their supporters: 'Counter protest the fascist rally nearby!'

Chelsea Jacobs, a member of the Denver Communists, said that Saturday's event, which the group called a Black Lives Matter-Antifa soup drive, had been organized in response to the Patriot Muster.

The 'soup rally' was meant to be ironic in response to comments that far-left protesters throw soup cans, she said.

The protester stood in front of the police as the flag went up in flames

The moment of fire: Smoke erupts (in the top right corner) after the gunshot rang out at the protest

A large numbers of officers, in the area to try and keep the two sides apart, then rushed to the scene

Tiegen, the Patriot Muster organizer, said the BLM-Antifa protesters started throwing soup cans at the police.

Police expected there to be trouble. In previous weeks they have asked organizers to cancel or postpone their rallies, to try and tone down tension.

Ahead of Saturday's rallies, they issued a statement saying the department 'respects the right to peacefully assemble.'

John Tiegen, organizer of the 'Patriot Muster' group, said the BLM-Antifa protesters started throwing soup cans at the police

They continued: 'Those who participate in protests, demonstrations, marches, or other gatherings, as protected by the First Amendment, are reminded to do so in a lawful manner.

'Individuals who choose to act outside of local, state and federal law, will be subject to citation or arrest.'

Tiegen is the author of the book 13 Hours, detailing the botched Benghazi raid, which was turned into a film.

Tiegen spent four years in the Marines and then several years as a security contractor with Blackwater Security on missions in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, he says on his website.

Tiegen then worked for the CIA on their Global Response Staff, deployed to 40 countries around the world.

He was in Libya in September 2011 when the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi was attacked, and four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, killed.

He received the Award for Heroism and Valor for his bravery that night.

Back in his native Colorado, Tiegen has carved out a career for himself as a motivational speaker.

He regularly appears on television and radio to discuss his views.

On Saturday he said his Facebook page had been taken down.

Booking entry, via Big League Politics
Doloff was identified by a unique "space invaders" tattoo on his wrist, which has been associated with 'Rosa Antifa Wien.' According to Big League Politics, he has expressed support for BLM in Denver recently and appears to be a left-wing Bernie Sanders supporter.

A man initially reported as a participant in a Denver "Patriot Rally" was shot and killed by another man on Saturday near the Denver Art Museum, according to the Denver Post. A suspect, an employee of 9News, is in custody. Early reporting suggested that the suspect was an Antifa participant in an anti-police counter-rally, however the Post has updated their report to say that the shooter's affiliation is unknown after police took issue with the initial characterization.

Video of the incident appears to show the man drawing and spraying pepper spray at a shot rang out.

Update: A Denver Post staff member witnessed the fatal confrontation. This story has been updated after authorities called into question the accuracy of that journalist’s report concerning the affiliation of the shooter.

In a news conference after the incident, division Chief Joe Montoya, said police could not confirm the shooter’s or the victim’s affiliations, but said the incident started as a verbal altercation. Two guns were found at the scene, he said, as well as a mace can.

When asked about the 9News report, Montoya said he could not confirm any connection, only saying that the department was still interviewing witnesses. One of those witnesses was a Denver Post photojournalist.

“We’re hopeful that as soon as possible we can get the factual information out as to what led to this — who the individuals involved were,” Montoya said. “We’re hopeful that that information will help kind of calm the waters a little bit.” -Denver Post

According to The Denver Channel, several police officers in riot gear were already on the scene when the shooting occurred attempting to perform crowd control.

Suspect surrendering
The shooting his being investigated as a homicide, while charges have yet to be filed against the suspect.

Military Vet Shot Dead At 'Patriot Rally' in Front Of His Son by Leftist Hired by 9News Denver As 'Security'

Matthew Dolloff, 9News Denver's hired gun who shot and killed military veteran Lee Keltner during a "Patriot Rally" on Saturday afternoon, is not licensed to be a security guard and never has been according to the Denver Department of Excise and Licenses.

NEW: Denver Dept of Excise and Licenses confirms “there is no record for an active licensed security guard now or ever for an individual named Matthew Doloff or Dolloff. If he was operating as a security guard, he was in violation of the law”. More tonight on @CBSDenver at 10p pic.twitter.com/mFAYXZ1er5

— Pete D’Abrosca (@pdabrosca) October 11, 2020
CBS Denver dropped the bombshell on Sunday night:

The Denver Department of Excise and Licenses tells CBS4’s Andrea Flores Dolloff was not licensed to be a security guard in the city.

"If he was operating as a security guard, he was in violation of the law," said Eric Escudero, a department spokesman, stated. "Security guards are prohibited from carrying or using a firearm without getting an armed firearm endorsement for their license. All security guards in Denver are required to get a federal background check before they receive their license."

Escudero also shared Denver is one of three cities in Colorado where security guards are required to have a license to operate, and there is requirement to have a license in the state.

Security guards are also required to go through training which includes training on use of force.

Doloff had his first advisement hearing Sunday morning. The judge declared the arrest affidavit will be sealed, and the defendant will be held on first degree murder charges without bond.

As I reported earlier, Dolloff's social media show he's a radical leftist with a hatred of Trump supporters.

Though the Denver Police Dept. within hours of the shooting rushed to claim that their "investigation" determined Dolloff was a "private security guard with no affiliation with Antifa," on Sunday night they admitted that wasn't true.

"Investigators are unaware of whether the suspect is personally affiliated with any political organization," the Denver PD said.

UPDATE 2/3: ...not a protest participant. Immediately following the incident, rumors were circulating regarding the suspect’s affiliation with a particular group. Investigators are unaware of whether the suspect is personally affiliated with any political organization.

BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: The ‘Agitator’ Involved Saturday’s Murder in Denver, Jacob Kelly, Is a Leader in Antifa-BLM Denver

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...-denver-jacob-kelly-leader-antifa-blm-denver/

On Saturday it was reported that a local Denver news producer and the news agency’s ‘bodyguard’ were taken into custody for the fatal shooting of a Trump supporter during dueling rallies on Saturday. What we didn’t discuss was the agitator who stirred up the mess and who has done it before, Jacob Kelly.

All initial reports had indicated that the murder of a Trump supporter in Denver on Saturday was a conflict between Antifa and conservatives, but the Denver Police later issued a statement saying that the shooter did not have any ties to the militant leftists.

Update: Further investigation has determined the suspect is a private security guard with no affiliation with Antifa. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

TRENDING: HOLY HELL! Joe Biden Looks Like Death in Erie, Pennsylvania — Something Is Wrong with Old Joe!

But as we previously pointed out, the shooter had numerous anti-Trump and radical left posts on his social media.

So the Denver @9NEWS security shooter, Matthew Robert Dolloff, now arrested for murder has quite the Facebook post history. From [email protected] the Police (FTP), to sharing Occupy Denver/ Democrats, to his [email protected] Trump.

We were the first to report the shooter’s name, Mathew Dolloff, is missing on the Colorado list of Registered Security Guards in Denver. More people overnight have reported this same observation.

Last night we reported more on the actual event and altercation between the shooter, Dolloff, and the Trump supporter, Lee Keltner, who died.

We showed pictures from the event where Keltner and Dolloff face off and have provided a video of the event:

But there is more information regarding another individual behind the incident in Denver that ended in the murder of an innocent American.

A guy in a Black Guns Matter shirt was out stirring up trouble after the event with the Trump supporters in Denver was over. He started screaming and trying to get others into a fight:

Important context: man in “Black Guns Matter” shirt urges conservatives to mace him. “F*ck around and find out,” he says. Another man shoots the victim off screen during the altercation. pic.twitter.com/hzPC1gmQvO

— Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) October 11, 2020

The man’s name is Jacob Kelly. He’s one of the leaders of the Denver area Antifa-Black Lives Matter (BLM) insurgents. This is the guy that was starting all of the fights. As you can see, the Denver Post photographer we mentioned last night, Helen Richardson, is always right next to him capturing the action. He was involved in multiple previous assaults and was arrested several times by the Denver PD.

Kelly was involved in a fight at Bernie rally in February of 2020.

Here is a video of Kelly’s fight at the Bernie event:

On June 23, 2020, Kelly was leading a takeover of the Denver City Counsel meeting demanding to defund the police. Kelly was arrested on July 3, 2020, at a Denver Antifa-BLM event. Kelly was still around after all the violence he has incurred to date and instigated a fight with Lee Kelter who then stepped away and was attacked and shot dead by Mathew Dolloff.

Here is a composite by Yaacov Apelbaum of the many events related to Jacob Kelly:

Mathew Dolloff, the killer of Trump supporter Keltner was not alone. He acted with the agitator Jacob Kelly – a leader of the Antifa-BLM movement in Denver.

The Denver Post on Monday released key photos capturing the alleged murder of military veteran Lee Keltner at the hands of 9News Denver's hired gun, Matthew Dolloff.

Internet sleuths over the weekend noticed two crucial photos were missing from the selection released by the Post which should have shown when Dolloff drew his gun.

After taking heat on social media, the Post relented and released the damning pictures which further implicate Dolloff in murder.

Here's the latest compilation of all the photos (GRAPHIC):

Shysters discuss the circumstances of this case: the ("Patriot Muster") protestor was not attacking the killer/leftist; on the contrary. So militia guy used the mace to get the killer away; killer then cold-bloodedly pulled his weapon and mortally shot the patriot protester, thinking he now had good excuse--this is first degree murder, suckers
