DOVER, Del. (AP) - A middle-school teacher in New Castle County has been charged with sex offenses involving two female students.
State police arrested 37-year-old Umar Ahmad at his Newark home on Friday and charged him with first-degree rape and sexual solicitation of a child. He was being held under $40,000 secured bail.
Investigators said they were contacted by Colonial School District officials last October after a parent reported a suspected sexual relationship between his 14-year-old daughter and a teacher at McCullough Middle School. The father said he found text messages between Ahmad and his daughter on her cell phone.
Police later discovered that Ahmad also had asked a 15-year-old student at McCullough to send him nude pictures of herself via cell phone.
