New Castle-area man charged in rape of 6-year-old girl

A 20-year-old New Castle-area man was arrested on charges he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl two years ago, police reported today.
New Castle County police charged Oshane “Brian” Hinds, of the 400 block of Anderson Drive in the Dunleith community, on four counts of second-degree rape, and unlawful imprisonment.
Hinds was committed to the Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $120,500 bail.
He faces a hearing on the charges May 16.

seph Blithe said police were notified about the sexual assault March 21.
According to court records, county police investigators scheduled the interview with the victim, who is now 8-years-old, on April 4 at the Children’s Advocacy Center at A.I. duPont Hospital.
During the forensic interview, the victim told investigators that the acts occurred two years ago when Hinds “forced her to lay down, took off her clothes and got on top of her,” police said in court records.
The suspect allegedly forcibly raped her in a bedroom in the basement.
Blithe said the incident occurred when Hinds was visiting in the first block of Simonds Drive near New Castle.
The child said she pulled up her pants and tried to get out of the room, but the door was locked and she couldn’t unlock it.
The suspect then ordered the girl back to the bed when he proceeded to force her to engage in oral sex, before allegedly raping her again, police said in court records.
The victim told investigators
that she told some adults after the attack, “but they did not believe her and laughed.”
