Police are investigating a spate of sexual attacks on women in South Auckland in broad daylight over the past two months.
Six women were attacked either at the Manukau Sports Bowl or near The Gardens, Totara Park.
On Saturday, a 13-year-old girl was indecently assaulted while playing on the monkey bars at the playground near the Manukau Sports Bowl.
The girl was able to break free from her attacker and ran home to raise the alarm.
The man was described as Polynesian, medium build and about 178cm tall. He had short black wavy hair and was wearing a baseball cap, a long sleeve button-down dress shirt, black track pants with elastic bands at the bottom and white sports shoes.
On Sunday, October 13, a 20-year-old woman was indecently assaulted on Te Irirangi Dr, Clover Park outside the Sports Bowl. The man was described as Maori or Polynesian, with a medium build.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darrell Harpur of Counties Manukau police urged people in the area to be vigilant and for parents to accompany their children to playgrounds.
"We are concerned about these types of incidents due to the nature and frequency of offending in these areas," he said.
Police said at least two people who were operating separately were thought to be behind the attacks at The Gardens.
In five incidents between September and October, women between the ages of 17 and 55 were approached by men and indecently assaulted.
Police said in some of the incidents, the offender had spoken to the victim and tried to prevent her from leaving the area.
All the attacks occurred in daylight.
The men were described as Maori or Polynesian. One was between 160cm and 170cm tall, of skinny or slight build. The other was described as being 180cm tall of solid or chubby build.
Police are asking anyone who may have information on the attacks or who witnessed anything to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
