New Yorkers better stock up!

More than 1,000 Big Apple bodegas are expected to shut down Thursday in protest of President Trump’s immigration ban.

The strike by Yemeni-American store owners is set to take place from 12-8 p.m. across the five boroughs, according to the organizers’ Facebook page.

“This shutdown of grocery stores and bodegas will be a public show of the vital role  these grocers and their families play in New York’s economic and social fabric,” the page reads. “During this period, grocery store owners will spend time with their families and loved ones to support each other; many of these families have been directly affected by the Ban.”

Yemen is one of the seven Muslim-majority nations facing a temporary ban on entering the US as a result of Trump’s executive order.

In addition to the protest, the bodega owners will also be holding a public call to prayer at sundown and a rally at Brooklyn Borough Hall at 5:15 p.m.

“The program will begin with the Muslim call for prayer and a public sundown prayer by Muslim rally participants,” the Facebook page explains. “The prayer will be followed by several Yemeni merchants and their families sharing personal stories of how their lives and families have been impacted by the ban, as well as stories read on behalf of families who are afraid to come forward.”

The protest was first reported by BuzzFeed.
