Man and woman in 60s attacked, zip tied, duct-taped in armed Bronx home invasion robbery

Video shows a crew of armed robbers lying in wait as a 64-year-old Bronx resident opens his apartment door — with one of them then bashing him over the head with a metal bar, according to cops.
The suspects zip-tied and duct-taped the victim — as well as a 60-year-old woman who was in the West Bronx home at the time — while robbing the place before fleeing, authorities said.
The assailants struck at the home at Valentine and East Burnside avenues around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The crew also struck the man with a gun, cops said.

The violent home invaders then tied up the man and woman, police said. The relationship between the victims was not immediately clear.

The suspects removed a safe, an unspecified amount of cash, a purse and a backpack from the apartment while displaying guns, cops said.

At least “several” of the suspects then fled the address in a red vehicle while another fled on foot toward East 180th Street and Valentine Avenue.

The man was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for cuts on his head and face.
