Nig serial rapist arrested
July 20, 2004 --A south suburban man may be tied to more than a dozen sexual assaults in the Chicago area and North Carolina.
Chicago police say 39-year-old Wayne Willis of Chicago Heights stalked teenaged girls, grabbed them from behind and sexually assaulted them. Willis faces charges in connection with the 2001 attack of a 16-year-old girl in Harvey. He's also been charged with three attacks on the Chicago's South Side and investigators have used DNA to link him to six assaults.
"He did admit that he committed his first rape at age 22. We believe in his estimation that he has committed 19 to 20 rapes, in addition to 17 to 18 other victims that he attempted to get, but
as unsuccessful," said Det. Jeffrey Roberts, Chicago Police.
Police also believe Willis was involved in four more attacks in North Carolina.
