Twenty-year-old murder and aggravated child abuse suspect Chadrick Thomas turned himself in to the Hillsborough County Jail Wednesday night.

Police say Thomas was babysitting for his girlfriend's 6-month-old son, Zaconyae Brazelton, when he struck the infant, fracturing his skull and killing him instantly. Thomas gave Zaconyae to a family member who began CPR and called 911.

"The mother was leaving for work and she placed the infant in bed with her boyfriend," said Tampa Police spokespeson Laura McElroy. "The boyfriend was in the bed with the child throughout the morning."

Police accuse Chadrick Thomas of killing this baby, Zaconyae.
An autopsy showed that Zaconyae had suffered numerous broken ribs in his short life.

Child abuse is a common factor for the children of Violet Roberts (mother of dead niglet (1/2 niglet?).

Dead Child's Aunt Feels She Could Have Done Something

Child abuse is a common factor for the children of Violet Roberts.

Her 3-year-old son, Za'Mon, is in the custody of his grandmother because her youngest son's dad abused him.

Her youngest son, Za'Conyae Brazelton, is dead because her current boyfriend allegedly killed him.

According to police reports, Za'Conyae was transported to St. Joseph's hospital on April 12th after he had stopped breathing while being cared for by Robert's boyfriend, Chadrick Thomas, 20. The baby had two black eyes and five broken ribs. An autopsy later revealed the baby had a fractured skull and scars from previous abuse.

The police focused their investigation on Thomas after the autopsy was completed and issued a
warrant for his arrest. Thomas turned himself in on Wednesday night.

He is being held without bond on first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges.

Ms. Latricia Monroe said the day before her nephew, Za'Conyae Brazelton, died, they were celebrating his 6-month birthday and he wanted to go home with her.

"I told him I was cooking and would come and get him later, I never did go get him, and now this has happened."

Ms. Monroe said when she got the news that Za'Conyae was dead, all she could do was scream.

(At least the niglet won't grow up to do what was done to him).
