A 21-year-old Kenmore man was sentenced to 20 years in prison yesterday for killing his 3-month-old son by throwing him on a couch last summer.

Tremaine A. Powell pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder for the fatal abuse last summer of his infant son, Trevone. He was also convicted of second-degree assault for breaking the ribs of his 2-year-old son, Tremaine Jr.

Negro fambly values at work!

According to prosecutors, Powell threw Trevone down on Aug. 29 because he was frustrated w
ith the baby's crying. The baby was taken to Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center in Seattle, where he died three days lat
er of a fractured skull and bleeding around the brain.

King County Superior Court Judge Sharon Armstrong yesterday agreed with prosecutors that Powell deserved nearly the longest sentence he could receive under state sentencing standards.

Armstrong said she didn't want Powell leaving prison while his surviving son is still a child.

Twenty years was appropriate for this "disastrous crime that has been committed," Armstrong said.

Trevone, the infant, was "completely innocent and unable to defend himself," she added.

When Armstrong asked Powell yesterday if he had anything to say about his crimes, Powell shook his head and said only, "I'm sorry."

His attorney, Judy Baskin of Seattle, said Powell "feels horrible about what happened."

"The tragedy here is he wasn't a
ble to prevent it before it happened,"
Baskin said. State child-welfare officials have placed Tremaine Powell Jr. in foster care. The boys' mother is trying to regain custody of the child, said deputy prosecutor Tod
Bergstrom.

Note to attorney Baskin: The inability to prevent violent impulses is precisely what makes your client's TNB "typical".

The abuse that killed Trevone was the last of three incidents that month, prosecutors said. On Aug. 20, Powell hit the baby on the head and threw him on an air mattress. On Aug. 26, he clenched Trevone around the chest and threw him across the room.

When the baby was taken to the hospital Aug. 29, doctors found an earlier skull fracture and other injuries that probably were caused by those earlier incidents, prosecutors said.

But when did Tremaine Sr. find the time to break the ribs of his OTHER son Tremaine Jr
? The "true tragedy" in this case is that this simian didn't work in a nigger day-care center where he could have REALLY challenged his skills!
