NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans woman was handed a five-year suspended sentence Tuesday for the death of her newborn daughter.
The body of Ashley Barnes' infant was found in an ice chest in the back yard of her family's Gentilly home in 2003.
Barnes pleaded guilty to negligent homicide late last year.
Authorities have said an autopsy showed that the baby was delivered after a full-term pregnancy and died of asphyxiation.
Police said Barnes concealed her pregnancy from her f
amily and hid the baby
