Klan distributes fliers in Blue Ash

BLUE ASH -- Three men claiming to be members of the Imperial Klans of America Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, distributed about 100 anti-Semitic fliers Saturday in this city's Arcadia subdivision.

After receiving a report of suspicious activity, Blue Ash police monitored the threesome. No arrests were made.

'This is a first amendment issue, explained Capt. James Schaffer. The trio"s actions were protected as free speech.

The Klansmen either handed the fliers to residents, attached them to doors or left them on porches.

'They left the information in an envelope with a business card inside, Schaffer said.

The business card and the envelope contained a total of six addresses: three Web sites and post office boxes in Amelia
and Portsmouth, Ohio, and Dawson Springs,
Ky. Attempts to reach the Klan offices were unsuccessful.

From information police gathered, the Klansmen videotaped their distribution venture.

The three also gave a reason for leafleting Blue Ash. They claimed they were retaliating against action taken against one of their own in the city July 23.

On that summer evening, the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati
held a rally in the city"s Towne Square Center. During the rally, an associate of the three Klansmen was arrested.

'He was arrested for disrupting a lawful meeting, Schaffer noted.

'He was goose-stepping, Hitler style, in front of the group with an Israeli flag tied to his ankle.
