Public Opinion On Ukraine Shifts As Europeans Back Immediate Peace Over Seeking Russian Defeat​

The majority in all countries except Poland want peace as soon as possible, insisting the war must end even if Ukraine has to make territorial concessions to Russia, according to survey.

Europeans are divided between those who want the war in Ukraine to end as soon as possible, even if that means giving concessions to Russia, and others who believe Russia must be clearly defeated and punished.

According to a survey published on Wednesday by the European Council on Foreign Relations in Berlin, a relative majority of 35 percent of Europeans want a negotiated peace agreement with Russia as soon as possible, while 22 percent of those polled believe the war must continue and the West must refrain from offering Russia any concessions.


The survey polled residents in 10 European countries including the United Kingdom, Finland, France, Poland, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Sweden in mid-May, three months after the war had broken out.

Respondents who want peace as soon as possible are in the majority in all countries except Poland, insisting the war must end even if Ukraine has to make territorial concessions to Russia. Italians are the least concerned about retribution for Russia, with 52 percent of those polled just wanting an end to the conflict that has destabilized the European economy and worsened the cost of living crisis. In contrast, just 16 percent of them would see the war continue.

A similar story can be seen in Germany where 49 percent want peace compared with 16 percent who back a continuation of the war. Romania follows with a 42:23 swing, France with 41:20, and Sweden with 38:22.

In contrast, 41 percent of Poles want Russia defeated and punished with just 16 percent supporting a negotiated peace agreement. In the eyes of most Europeans, there is a clear instigator for the outbreak of the war, with 73 percent of all respondents blaming Russia, while 15 percent believe the blame lies at the feet of Ukraine, the European Union and the United States.

The question of who is the main obstacle to peace does not particularly divide Europeans either. In this case, too, they point to Russia (64 percent), but in the case of Italians, the rate is only 39 percent, while 35 percent blame Ukraine and the West.

Asked whether the war should lead to severing ties with Russia, 50 percent of those who call themselves pro-peace would end all economic ties, 42 percent all cultural ties, and 40 percent all diplomatic ties with Moscow.


It is no surprise that 82 percent of the pro-war camp would ban Russian oil imports into the European Union, 81 percent would supply Ukraine with additional weapons, and 52 percent would send EU troops to defend Ukraine.

In the case of pro-peace parties, 52 percent would support an oil embargo, 47 percent arms transfers to Ukraine, and only 24 percent troop deployments.

Looking at the long-term effects of the war, 61 percent fear a sharp rise in housing costs and energy prices, and the same proportion of respondents worried about Russia’s use of nuclear weapons. The third threat of concern is the use of chemical weapons by Russians (46 percent). Reducing energy dependence on Russia is considered more important by respondents (58 percent) than meeting climate targets (26 percent).

When it comes to disdain for the average American hurt by higher prices, there is more than enough in the Biden Administration to go around.

US sanctions did not bring the Russian economy to its knees, as Biden promised. They actually brought the American economy to its knees while Russian profits soared.

It’s easy to see why, according to a new Harris poll, 71 percent of Americans said they do not want Joe Biden to run for re-election. As Americans face record gas prices and the highest inflation in 40 years, President Biden admits he could not care less. His Administration is committed to fight a proxy war with Russia through Ukraine and Americans just need to suck it up.

Last week a New York Times reporter asked Biden how long he expects Americans to pay record gasoline prices over his Administration’s Ukraine policy. “As long as it takes,” replied the president without hesitation.


“Russia cannot defeat Ukraine,” added Biden as justification for his Administration’s pro-pain policy toward Americans. The president has repeatedly tried to deflect blame for the growing economic crisis by claiming Russia is solely behind recent inflation. “The reason why gas prices are up is because of Russia. Russia, Russia, Russia,” he said in the same press conference.

But Biden has a big problem: Americans do not believe him. According to a Rasmussen poll earlier this month, only eleven percent of Americans believe Biden’s claim that Russian president Vladimir Putin is to blame for high prices.

When it comes to disdain for the average American hurt by higher prices, there is more than enough in the Biden Administration to go around.

Brian Deese, Director of President Biden’s National Economic Council, was asked in a recent CNN interview, “What do you say to those families that say, listen, we can’t afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years?”

His answer? “This is about the future of the Liberal World Order and we have to stand firm.”

Has there ever been an Administration more out of touch with the American people? If you asked working Americans whether they’d be happy to suffer poverty for the “liberal world order,” how many would say “that sounds like a great idea”?


President Biden’s attempts to bring down gasoline prices are bound to fail because he does not understand the problem. He can beg the Saudis to pump more oil, he can even threaten the US oil companies as he did in a Tweet yesterday. He can buy and sell from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in attempt to give the impression that prices are lowing. None of it will work.

The strangest part of this idea that Americans must suffer to hurt the Russians is that these policies aren’t even hurting Russia! On the contrary: Russia has been seen record profits from its oil and gas exports since the beginning of the Ukraine war.

Washington’s bi-partisan foreign policy of wasting trillions on endless wars overseas has finally come home. Biden is clearly out of touch, but there is plenty of blame to go around. The only question is whether we will see an extended recession…or worse.

Germany, an industrial giant constituting over one quarter of the European Union’s GDP, has been among the nations hit hardest by the bloc’s self-induced energy and inflation crunch, with Germans urged to bathe less, wear sweaters to stay warm, and ride bikes more to get around. Last month, a poll found that 1/6 of the country is food insecure.
Major sectors of the German economy could “permanently” collapse thanks to the gas and inflation crises pummeling the country, German Trade Union Confederation chairwoman Yasmin Fahimi has warned.

“We have a real emergency. Entire branches of industry are in danger of collapsing permanently because of the gas bottlenecks: aluminum, glass, the chemical industry,” Fahimi said in an interview with Bild.
“Such a collapse would have massive consequences for the entire economy and jobs in Germany,” the trade union leader warned.
Fahimi, who met with Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday to discuss the crisis, told Bild that a third relief package from the government was essential, particularly for the unemployed, pensioners, and students.

“It’s terrible that people have to think about which vegetables they can still afford because of their electricity and gas bills. We urgently need an energy price cap for private households,” she said.

The official recommended additional energy subsidies for households for a certain amount of kilowatt hours to help them cope with the crisis. Fahimi also recommended a one-off property tax on the mega-rich to prevent a repeat of the COVID crisis, in which German households became poorer while the wealthy added nearly 100 billion euros to their holdings.
In his meeting with Fahimi, Scholz called for “concerted action” to make it through the energy and inflation crunch. “We will only get through this crisis, as a country, when we agree together on solutions,” he said.
Berlin has already implemented two social relief packages, including the abolition of a renewable energy tax on electricity bills, a commuter allowance that can be claimed in tax returns, and a slight rise in the tax-free allowance, as well as cash payments to lower income families and the unemployed.
Germany, which purchased about 40 percent of its gas and a quarter of its oil from Russia before the escalation of the crisis in Ukraine, has been hit particularly hard among the major European economies in the wake of Brussels’ push to “phase out” the EU’s dependence on Russian energy, lacking France’s nuclear power capabilities, and Italy’s access to cheap North African sources of gas, for example.
On Monday, the German Federal Network Agency announced that the country had enough gas in its underground storage reserves to last just one to two months if supplies from Russia were to be completely cut off. Last month, Berlin activated the second of three stages of its emergency plan to reduce gas consumption, which consists of “warning,” “alert,” and “emergency” levels.

A worrying survey conducted by the Institute for New Social Answers last month revealed that 16 percent of Germans are already skipping meals to try to make ends meet, with another 13 percent saying they would face a similar situation if prices continue to rise. Meanwhile, German farmers have warned that they could lose up to three million tons of harvest due to the EU’s Ukraine-related sanctions on Russian and Belarusian fertilizers, while industry leaders have expressed fears that a cutoff of Russian gas would spark Germany’s worst economic crisis since the Second World War.
EU officials have reacted nonchalantly to the pain being felt by Europeans, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen recommending that people simply turn down the thermostat a couple degrees, while EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell has suggested that the energy crisis is the price that Brussels must pay to obtain “freedom” from dependence on Russia.

Energy Sanctions On Russia Have Been A Boon For China And India​

When the UK and the U.S. banned Russian oil imports, and the European Union approved sanctions that made it a lot harder to trade in Russian oil, media reports highlighted the argument that Russian could not possibly replace Europe with Asia as its biggest oil client.
What wasn’t so widely reported on was China and India’s dependence on imported oil, any imported oil compatible with their refinery setups, and how important prices were for both, given their size and import dependence. And both countries certainly took advantage of Western sanctions.
Russian crude has been trading at a discount to global benchmarks since March. This discount has been a boon for buyers in China and India. The Wall Street Journal recently reported, for example, that China’s Sinopec posted strong financial figures for its first quarter, at least in part thanks to cheap Russian oil.
Meanwhile, Russia became China’s largest oil supplier earlier this year, according to Chinese customs data for May, overtaking its OPEC+ partner Saudi Arabia. It also overtook Saudi in India because of the discount at which Russian crude now sells.
Speaking of that discount, it has been shrinking in the past few weeks, suggesting that demand from China and India has been strong enough to keep Russian oil flowing abroad in large enough volumes to keep the oil revenue flowing back into Russia.
Bloomberg reported last week that there was a dip in these oil flows in the week to August 12, with the total amount of Russian oil sent to Asian buyers falling to the lowest since March, after plateauing at around 2 million bpd between April and June, the report noted.
Even so, the discount of ESPO crude sold to Asia, which was as deep as $20 per barrel in March, has vanished, with at least two cargos set to load next month and in September selling at parity with the Dubai benchmark, per a Reuters report.
The shrinking of the discount of Russian oil could be one reason for the decline in volumes going to Asia. Another could be that the stocking up on cheap crude from Russia has been going well both in India and China.
Reuters’ Clyde Russell suggested in a recent column that this redirection of Russian oil flows makes Russia “increasingly reliant on just two countries when it comes to selling its crude oil.” India and China now account for more than 40 percent of Russian exports, he noted, up from half that a year ago.
The thing is that this reliance is mutual. The big Asian powerhouses need cheap energy to remain big Asian powerhouses. China has been Russia’s biggest oil buyer for years. And Russia needs new markets for its crude, especially after the EU embargo comes into effect at the end of this year.
Once this embargo comes into effect, global oil prices, bar an Iran nuclear deal, will jump sharply. And China and India, along with smaller buyers such as Turkey, Egypt, and even troubled Sri Lanka, will be the winners, keeping their access to Russian crude at preferential prices.
The WSJ report noted that if an oil buyers’ cartel comes into existence, it would also benefit Chinese and Indian oil buyers as neither country has joined G7’s initiative for this cartel. It may be a good thing that the chances of such a cartel materializing are quite slim.
No wonder the International Energy Agency said earlier this month Western sanctions had had a limited effect on Russian oil production, noting that in July, Russian crude output was only 310,000 bpd below its levels before the Ukraine invasion. It also revised upwards its forecast for production next year.

Russian Diamonds Flow Back On Global Market As Western Sanctions Fail​

The U.S. and its Western allies have unleashed a barrage of economic sanctions to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. A critical element in that strategy is to limit Russian exports of commodities, such as crude oil to diamonds, to cause maximum economic pain in Moscow. Though the strategy has backfired as Russia's oil revenues soar, the diamond trade is the latest export to be revived near pre-war levels.
Bloomberg reported that Russian mining giant Alrosa PJSC ramped up its diamond exports to near pre-Ukraine invasion levels.
Readers may recall the +$80 billion industry diamond industry was thrown into chaos earlier this year when the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) hit Alrosa with sanctions, reducing 30% of the world's rough stones supplies.
Alrosa is one of the world's largest diamond miners, responsible for 90% of Russia's rough stone output. OFAC's sanctions on the miner resulted in all of its clients and other counterparties immediately halting transactions in early April.
By late April, we noted that Russian rough stone supplies had stopped flowing to Surat, India, the mecca of diamond cutting and polishing. We pointed out that traders and manufacturers were searching for workarounds due to OFAC's sanctions disrupting payments via Indian banks to Alrosa.

So fast forward to late August, and Alrosa is back, selling more than $250 million of diamonds a month, which is approximately $50 to $100 million below pre-war levels. It appears Indian banks have figured out ways to bypass OFAC's sanctions and are "more comfortable with how to facilitate transactions in currencies other than U.S. dollars," Bloomberg said.
"There is no indication that any sales have breached sanctions or laws. But there is still a widespread unease about the implications of dealing in Russian goods," Bloomberg noted.
The return of one of the world's top diamond producers is another sign that Western sanctions against Russia are failing. Six months after the invasion, Russia's economy has yet to nosedive and implode, though sanctions entirely backfired on Europe amid energy hyperinflation and mounting recession risks.
The biggest takeaway is that Russia and the rest of the world are finding workarounds to the Western economic blockade, which shows the era of America's unipolar world order is nearing its end.

Corruption at the Department of Defense (DOD) has resulted in the Solomon Islands signing a security pact with China and more recently denying a port of call entry for a US Coast Guard cutter. The largest island in the Solomon islands is Guadalcanal which was famous for the battle against Japan that started on August 7, 1942 and lasted for 6 months.
Today I will attempt to explain the connection between corruption and America’s rapid decline as a world power.
Catherine Austin Fitts and Dr Mark Skidmore have documented the theft of tens of trillions of dollars from US government agencies, mostly the DOD. Dr Skidmore has joined the ranks of those who have said they believe that the Wall Street Elite has been allowed to sell trillions of dollars in US Treasury bonds, pocket the money and send a bill to the taxpayers to pay both the principle and the interest.
What recourse do Americans have? None. The US House and Senate amended FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) rules to permit the Housing Commissioner or any other official to refuse to answer any Senator who asks about $20 billion missing from his or her department. All the Commissioner has to do is to claim National Security and refuse all questions about the missing billions.
As Mark Twain said, “America has the finest Congress money can buy.”
It was just a few years ago when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cackled, “We came, we saw, he died.” She was cackling over the death of the Libyan leader who had dreamed of creating an oil and gold backed African Dollar that would protect Africans from exploitation by American and European banks. That was a definite No No worthy of his execution and the destruction of his nation. Previously, the US had bombed and invaded Iraq after their leader dared to sell his oil for euros. That and other sins.
No more. What changed to enable the Solomon Islands to say No to the US military with no consequences?
Nobody is afraid of the Big Bad Wolf because he is almost toothless due to corruption in Washington DC. The US government has truly become a criminal enterprise.
The US Navy is armed with a subsonic two stage cruise missiles, the Tomahawk. India and Russia joined forces to produce the Brahmos Mach 3 cruise missile which India just sold $375 million worth of to the Philippines. Putin recently announced the deployment of a Mach 10 cruise missile, the Zircon. In two years the Brahmos cruise missile will be upgraded to Mach 8. Will the US Navy still be subsonic when the world can buy Mach 8 cruise missiles from India?
Russia and India have Mach 20 missiles. Iran has a Mach 14 missile. The Russians have replaced the Iskander missile with the Kinzhal (Dagger.) Read what Wikipedia has to say of the Kinzhal. Please note that vectors ( forces in a direction) are additive so when the Mach 10 Kinzhal is launched at Mach 2 from a Mig 31, the resulting speed is Mach 12.
Because it flies at hypersonic speeds within the atmosphere, the air pressure in front of it forms a plasma cloud as it moves, absorbing radio waves (Plasma stealth).
The high speed of the Kinzhal gives it better target-penetration characteristics than lighter, slower cruise-missiles. With advanced maneuvering capabilities, high precision and hypersonic speed, some sources give it the name “carrier killer” due to its alleged ability to disable and possibly even sink a 100,000 ton supercarrier with a single strike. With a mass of 2,000 kg (4,400 lb) and a speed of Mach 12 (including a 500 kg warhead and the other parts of the missile), the Kinzhal has more than 16.9 gigajoules of kinetic energy, or the equivalent of 4,000 kg (8,818 pounds) of TNT.
Russia is firing between 50,000 and 70,000 artillery shells a day. A Ukrainian soldier wrote an open letter to President Zelensky. He said his unit was receiving 6,500 incoming Russian shells a day. They had no supplies. There was no support and there was nothing they could do but die.
The Russians are using drones so they can direct their artillery fire into trenches. This is not World War I.
The next phase in the Special Military Operation could begin as soon as the Duma passes that proposed law declaring the Ukraine to be a terrorist state. They did shell a nuclear power plant. And they did kidnap 60,000 ethnic Russian children who could very likely be sold to human traffickers. If that resolution passes, Russia will likely increase its attacks on Ukrainian government offices. Already Ukrainians have taken care to avoid key offices and to work in adjacent bomb shelters.
The referendum to join the Russian Federation will likely pass on September 11th. That means that Russian conscript soldiers can be given assignments in the Donbass as that will be Russian Federation territory in less than 2 weeks.
The Russians are already amassing their forces. They have gathered together 300 helicopters and 300 jets in the south. They have a sufficient number of transport helicopters to move 16,000 soldiers, probably to the Crimea which became part of Russia in 2014.
The Russians are amassing 50,000 to 60,000 troops in the their Third Army Corps in the Rostov region near the Donbass. They might originally have been conscripts but they are all volunteering for this assignment. They will be given bonuses and get the latest Russian tanks and equipment. The soldiers already in the Ukraine have contracts and are not conscripts. The 3rd Army Corps could enter and join the attack either in the south to take Nikolayev and encircle Odessa with some going to the Donbass arc to break through the Ukrainian lines. If I were Putin, I would also send a force of at least 10,000 men across the border from Belarus to nearby Kharkov. Or he could send 10,000 men from the Donbass arc as soon as the Ukrainian lines collapse.
There is evidence from 2 different Ukrainian sources that they suffered 200,000 casualties and lost an additional 100,000 men to desertion and capture. They are drafting men up to age 70. I am amazed that these men are still fighting and dying. Decimated battalions have fled the frontlines enabling Russian soldiers to move forward.
A comparison of the HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System), a supposed game changer, to the Russian Tornado will tell us a lot about the Pentagon. The Tornado and the HIMARS are both Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS.) The Tornado has 12 tubes, HIMARS has only 6. Tornado rockets have a range 50% greater than does the American. And the explosive payload of the Tornado is twice that of its American counterpart.
But the primary difference is the inherent treason built into HIMARS and the M777. They were both designed by men whose purpose was to gouge money from taxpayers. After firing either one for 8 hours, they need expensive and billable repairs. Russian troops can continue firing the Tornado which protects their fellow soldiers. The Pentagon does not care about American troops.
The US has a few M777s and HIMARS still operating in the Ukraine. Four Tornadoes can fire 4 X 12 or 48 individually targeted rockets with 240 kg (529 pound) warheads in 12 seconds. No system of trenches, earthworks and tunnels of any army brigade can withstand that repeated level of an assault, especially when combined with 6,500 regular artillery rounds day after day.
That is why “willing to fight to the last Ukrainian” is a phrase we hear more and more frequently.
Zoltan Pozsar is a Hungarian born wunderkind of finance. He worked for the Federal Reserve and the US Treasury and is now working at Credit Suisse. He has said that the dollar, the pound and the euro will lose value versus Asian commodity backed currencies. He has also said Germany has reached a Minsky moment where they are taking a $2 trillion loss to their economy over $20 billion in Russian natural gas.
The Americans and not the Russians will be responsible for the worst winter in Europe since 1945. Half of the pubs and small shops in Britain are expected to go bankrupt because their electric utility bills are rising 400%. Europeans will be starving and freezing this winter in defense of astoundingly corrupt war criminals in Kiev and Washington DC.
I don’t know if Zoltan Pozsar reads Pepe Escobar but the latter has written about Sergey Glazyev of the Eurasian Union and his ” BRICS Debt Cancellation” proposal.
Russia is a primary member of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) which is preparing a basket of commodity backed currencies to replace the dollar as a reserve currency in international trade. EUROPE PLANS "EMERGENCY INTERVENTION" IN POWER MARKET AS ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE​

With even Zoltan Pozsar warning that Europe faces an apocalypse of sorts now that the Eurussia divorce is complete and energy prices in Europe are hitting fresh daily record highs every single day - just today, German 1Year forward baseload electricity rose above €1000, or 10x where they were a year ago, before easing after European nat gas prices plunged the most since March after Germany said its gas stores are filling up faster than planned ahead of winter...

... moments ago the European Union appears to have finally realized that it faces an armed revolt this winter, or worse, when millions face freezing cold without power and heat (see "This Is Beyond Imagination": Polish Homeowners Line Up For Days To Buy Coal Ahead Of Winter"), and announced that it was planning "urgent steps" to push down soaring power prices, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Monday.
"The skyrocketing electricity prices are now exposing, for different reasons, the limitations of our current electricity market design,” von der Leyen said in a speech at the Bled Strategic Summit in Slovenia, pointing out what has been obvious for years to those who warned repeatedly that Europe should probably not take make its energy policy based on the idiotic ravings of a self-absorbed, petulant, Scandinavian teenager. “It was developed under completely different circumstances and completely different purposes.”
Ah yes, it's the "circumstances and purposes" that are at fault, not Europe's catastrophic "green" push over the past decade that left the continent at the mercy of Putin, very much as one Donald J Trump warned would happen... and speaking of Putin, maybe Europe can impose a few more self-destructive sanctions on Russian energy exports. But we digress...
Ursula then added “that’s why we are now working on an emergency intervention and a structural reform of the electricity market", one which would look roughly like this.

The unprecedented spike in power prices, which have soared almost 10-fold in the past year, has fueled inflation, increased the economic burden on businesses and households recovering from the pandemic, and forced the ECB to aggressively hike rate in hopes of crushing demand into what is now a definite recession if not a depression. One could say that Putin couldn't have planned his revenge on Europe better.
According to Bloomberg, more and more member states are calling for a price cap and the Czech Republic, which holds the rotating presidency of the EU, plans to convene an extraordinary meeting of energy ministers on Sept. 9.
In other words, while the ECB plans to crush demand with tighter monetary conditions, European governments will ease demand and inject fiscal stimulus to avoid an angry mob descending on various local parliaments.
Of course, being a harebrained European "plan" which doesn't make any sense - just like anything else out of Europe - the exact details of an EU intervention plan are still being developed, and EU diplomats said the EU’s executive arm could offer a detailed plan as soon as this week. Don't hold your breath: after all, absent a massive ECB-funded stimulus - the proceeds of which will immediately go to Putin - unless Europe has somehow found brand new deposits of nat gas which are immediately accessible and don't require tens of billions and years of development to be extracted, what Europe is doing is just the latest jawboning.
With Russia squeezing gas deliveries, power-plant outages further sapping supply, while droughts and lack of wind make a mockery of "green" energy sources, the pressure is growing on EU leaders to act quickly or risk social unrest and political upheaval. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala is seeking backing for his price-cap plan and plans to discuss possible limits with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“High energy prices are a Europe-wide problem that we need to tackle at European level,” Fiala said on his Twitter account. “Ahead of the EU Energy Council we want to find a way to help people and businesses that we can agree on with other European leaders.”
Czech officials are proposing to cap prices of natural gas used for power generation, Industry and Trade Minister Jozef Sikela said on Monday.
“We may open the question of emission allowances, as some other member states have done in past, that also present a major part of the total price,” Sikela said. “We may open the question of the overall market regulation, total decoupling of the prices,” adding that the bloc cannot meddle too much with the market or fuel speculation.
Amusingly, EU member states have already earmarked about 280 billion euros (or roughly the same in USD now that we are at parity) in measures such as tax cuts and subsidies to ease the pain of surging energy prices for businesses and consumers, but the aid risks being dwarfed by the scale of the crisis. In other words, the ECB will be hiking rates even as it has to inject even more liquidity into the market to enable the latest helicopter money stimulus. Governments have also started to limit energy use, banning outside lighting for buildings in Germany and lowering indoor heating temperatures, to meet the EU voluntary target of cutting gas demand by 15%.
On Saturday, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo warned that the EU can’t continue resolving the problem of sky-rocketing energy costs by cutting taxes and called for a price cap instead. Should the bloc fail to reach an agreement, Belgium will consider national measures, he told VTM television.
France last week reacted skeptically to the idea of setting limits on power prices, saying its situation is different from other European countries thanks to government measures offering protection against inflation.
In kneejerk response, some European commodity prices dipped from all time highs, while US nat gas slumped to session lows amid expectations Europe's "energy emergency" could mean fewer Us LNG exports. We doubt that, and in fact expect that the nat gas surge will continue as Europe doubles down in begging for every last drop of US, Canadian, Qatari LNG it can find.

Russia dropped the hammer on Monday by announcing gas supplies to Europe through Nord Stream 1 will be halted indefinitely until Western sanctions are lifted. On August 31, Gazprom completely shut down gas deliveries via the pipeline. Although initially Nord Stream 1 was slated to resume gas transit on Friday, Gazprom announced that it would remain closed indefinitely due to technical issues. "Problems in [gas] deliveries arose due to sanctions that have been imposed on our country and a number of companies by Western countries, including Germany and the UK. There are no other reasons behind supply issues," Peskov noted. The Kremlin spokesman also claimed that it is not Gazprom’s fault that "the Europeans absolutely absurdly make a decision to refuse to service their equipment," which they are contractually obligated to do. Peskov stressed that all Nord Stream 1 operations hinge on "one piece of equipment that needs serious maintenance." On Sunday, his comments were echoed by Alexander Novak, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, who blamed the European Union for the problems that have prevented the resumption of gas supplies via the pipeline. "The entire problem lies precisely on [the EU's] side, because all the conditions of the repair contract have been completely violated, along with the terms of shipping of the equipment," he said. On Friday, Gazprom canceled the restart of Nord Stream 1 citing an oil leak in the turbine, which was detected during a joint inspection with manufacturer Siemens Energy at the Portovaya compressor station near St. Petersburg. At the same time, the malfunction could be remedied only in Canada, which has imposed sanctions against Moscow. Despite the maintenance issues, Europe has accused Russia of weaponizing energy supplies, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen describing Moscow as "not a reliable partner" in terms of gas supplies. Ursula von der Leyen said in February the EU would be just fine without Russian energy, now she's whining about Russia cutting them off. What's so remarkable about the situation is Russia's brand new Nord Stream 2 pipeline to Germany is fully completed and ready to be turned on at any time -- if German and EU politicians allow it. From Reuters, "Russian lawmaker urges Europe to revive Nord Stream 2 to solve energy crisis": Europe could solve its energy crisis by scrapping sanctions against Russia and launching the mothballed Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, the speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament said on Friday. Germany halted the Nord Stream 2 Baltic Sea gas pipeline project on Feb. 22, just two days before Russia sent its troops into Ukraine in what it calls a "special military operation", and after the Kremlin formally recognised two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine. [...] Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, an ally of President Vladimir Putin, said energy security is impossible without Russia. "The moment of truth has come for European leaders. They have two ways out of the situation they have created for themselves," he wrote on Telegram. "The first one. Lift illegal sanctions against our country and launch Nord Stream 2. The second one. To leave everything as it is, which will lead to problems in the economy and make life even more difficult for citizens." Europe's most divisive energy project, costing $11 billion, was finished in September 2021, but has stood idle pending certification by Germany and the European Union. Zero Hedge on Monday shared a forecast predicting energy bills for a typical European family will surge around 200% this year. Western leaders have stated explicitly the needs of Ukraine take precedence over their own voters -- no matter how rough the winter gets or how high their energy bills surge. (Natural News) Western Europe is facing “total collapse” from catastrophic scarcity and price hikes surrounding food, fertilizer, energy and industry, warns David Dubyne, featured in today’s Situation Update podcast (below). Silver guru David Morgan, also featured in today’s podcast, adds that European banks are facing the possibility of systemic failures (and “bail-ins”) due to exposure to energy markets and the desire of Western European governments to keep printing money to try to address the devastating energy scarcity that is now irreversible.
American banks also have exposure to Europe’s economies, which means a failure of Western European banks, governments and currencies will spread like contagion to the United States and the dollar. With no solutions in sight — and no willingness among Europe’s politicians to even consider reversing their suicidal policies that led to this crisis — it seems that Western Europe is doomed to a simultaneous collapse of food, energy, industry, agriculture and currency.
Putin, it seems, won’t need to go to war with NATO after all. NATO countries are destroying themselves with astonishing speed.

The death of the queen marks the death of Western Civilization​

Today’s death of Queen Elizabeth II couldn’t be more timely, as the death of Western Europe likely won’t be far behind. The Queen has died, but so has common sense, rationality, financial sanity and agricultural integrity. No civilization can survive without food, energy and money, and the leaders of Western Europe are hell bent on utterly destroying all three.
Now, we are just a few months away from watching in horror as decades of virtue signaling and bad policy decisions comes to fruition, bringing Western Europe to its knees with a level of devastation that hasn’t been witnessed since World War II.
As a measure of just how bad it is, the government of Switzerland is now threatening a three-year prison sentence for anyone who heats their home over 19 degrees Celsius (about 66 degrees F). It is also reported that heating water over 60 (C) will be a criminal offense, and if that also applies to cooking, then no one in Switzerland will be able to boil water without become a criminal.
Apparently, the Swiss government is going to unleash a wave of “temperature police” to burst into people’s homes and measure their indoor temperatures to make sure no one is actually warm. Even if you heat your house with wood, you can still go to prison for producing too much heat.

The fall of Europe will spread to many other nations​

Unfortunately, this self-inflicted destruction won’t end with the fall of Western Europe. Unless the trajectory of all this is immediately altered, the catastrophe will spread to all western nations, including the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan, bringing down their industry, real estate values, GDPs and currencies. We are looking at the systemic, unrelenting wipeout of the Euro, the Yen and even the dollar, combined with global de-dollarization efforts already well under way by China, Russia, India and Saudi Arabia.
The era of abundance is over. Prepare for the era of collapse.
The bottom line? Unless a radical course correction is immediately embraced, Western Europe will suffer a catastrophic collapse in 2023, with “collapse” defined as 50% or more of the businesses and industries ceasing operations, causing mass destitution and angry uprisings across the continent, combined with widespread starvation and deaths from exposure (freezing).
The collapse of the United States will take longer to fully play out, but it is also inevitable. The dollar will soon be history, and the financial solvency of the U.S. government will evaporate virtually overnight.
Both the USA and Europe are going to end in mass uprisings, revolts and violent revolutions, it looks like. No wonder the globalists are desperately trying to kill billions with bioweapons vaccines and engineered starvation.
Part of this effort, by the way, is deliberate so that Western nations can “clear their books” of debt by declaring Force Majeure and thereby cancelling all financial obligations, both to Treasury debt holders and entitlement receivers among their own people. Anyone collecting a federal government pension, for example, is going to be left high and dry. Even worse, those left holding currencies like the Euro, the Yen or the Dollar will be lucky to get 5 cents on the dollar once the “great reset” is fully realized.
All those goons who worked for the feds, in other words, are going to be left with nothing. That includes the 87,000 new IRS agents who still think they’re going to terrorize Americans but will soon find themselves dumpster diving for food scraps.

Economics expert Tuomas Melinen warns that European catastrophe may only be “weeks” away before “mayhem” is unleashed​

The new leader of Italy is a conservative woman who loves God, her family, and her country. She shared her thoughts in early 2020 at an event in Rome.
In the 15-minute speech below, Giorgia Meloni shares her remarks at the God, Honor, Country: President Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul II, and the Freedom of Nations – A National Conservatism Conference in Rome, Italy – February 3, 2020.

Our worldview is the exact opposite of what they would like to force on us…
…Our main enemy today is the globalist drift of those who view identity and all its forms to be an evil to overcome. And constantly ask to shift real power away from the people to supernational entities headed by supposedly enlightened elites.
Let us be clear in our mind, because we did not fight against and defeat communism in order to replace it with a new international regime, but to permit independent nation states once again to defend the freedom, identity and sovereignty of their peoples…
…As a serious alternative to the beaurocratic super state ..and although that someone in Brussels or Frankfort, Davos or the City of London, lacks democratic legitimacy, everday it commissions the economic choices and political decisions of those who have invested in that legitmacy by their popular vote.
It means that whether the false democrats like it or not, national conservatives in every latitude are actually the only real Democrats. Because it is only by defending the nation states, that we defend the political sovereignty that belongs to the citizens of that state…
