Gunman opens fire in German nightclub

A gunman opened fire inside a German nightclub Sunday morning, killing one and wounding four before he was fatally shot by police, authorities said.
The gun battle broke out in the southwest German town of Konstanz, with three people wounded inside Club Grey at about 4:30 a.m. and a policeman shot with non-life-threatening wounds, police said.
The gunman was identified as a 37-year-old Iraqi citizen who lived in Konstanz. Cops said he acted alone and that the shooting wasn’t a terrorist attack.
Local police knew the gunman from previous encounters.
“We are still investigating but the circumstances surrounding the events at the disco in the evening before the shooting are a bit clearer and this led us to rule out a terrorism background,” police spokesman Fritz Bezikofer told N-TV.
Cops didn’t immediately disclose their theory on motive but said terror wasn’t it.
“According to our investigations this is not terror-related, unless the gunman radicalized himself within the last three days,” Bezikofer told CNN. “At this moment we believe that he may have had alternative motives.”
