Sgt. Gerry Hepp said police have obtained surveillance pictures of the suspect in that robbery while he was shopping at the SuperTarget near 116th Street and I-69 just before the bank robbery.
The bank is across the street from the store.
The pictures show the man entering SuperTarget at 8:21 a.m. and leaving the store after purchasing a white-brimmed straw hat at 8:42 a.m.
Police said the suspect robbed the bank about 9:15 a.m. wearing the hat.
The suspect walked into an office after entering the bank and ordered an employee to accompany him to the line of tellers, witnesses told police.
After reaching the tellers, police said, the suspect ordered all bank personnel to lie down. He told one teller to fill a bag with money.
The man wore a walkie-talkie radio with a microphone clipped to the front of his shirt, according to Hepp. There were 10 employees but no customers in the bank. No weapon was displayed.
A bank camera showed a black man in a white-brimmed straw hat and wearing dark sunglasses. He was described as about 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, 40 years old, with a graying beard, khaki pants, a light-colored and long-sleeved shirt and white tennis shoes.
Investigators were trying to determine if the robber might be an Anderson man who recently escaped from an Indiana prison in Westville.
Indiana State Police reported that Kelvin J. Fuller, 40, was last seen Wednesday wearing a tan shirt and driving a stolen Chevrolet Malibu west on U.S. 30 in Merrillville, Ind.
Fuller has been incarcerated in the Indiana Department of Correction since 1992. He was sentenced in Madison County on numerous charges, including armed robbery, arson, battery and criminal confinement. His earliest parole date would have been in 2012. He is considered extremely dangerous.
After taking the money, he walked out and was last seen running south.
Anyone with information is asked to call Fishers Police at (317) 595-3300 or Hamilton County dispatch at (317) 773-1282.
