EAST ST. LOUIS - An Alton drug dealer was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison.

A. Courtney Cox, United States attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, said Anthony S. Womack, a/k/a "T-Money," was sentenced in United States District Court in East St. Louis to a term of 360 months in prison, ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, and placed on supervised release for a period of eight years after his release from prison.

Womack, 35, was convicted after a jury trial on Nov. 19, 2008, of one count of distribution of more than five grams of crack cocaine.

The offense
occurred on Dec. 13, 2007, in Alton.

Trial evidence showed the defendant delivered about 29 grams of crack cocaine to a buyer in exchange for $1,900 at an apartment in Alton, Cox said.

The investigation was conducted by the Alton Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Safe Streets Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Donald S. Boyce.
