MESA, Ariz. -- Two armed men wearing pantyhose over their heads robbed a man of $38 and his wallet Thursday night, Mesa police said.

The victim told police two men knocked on his apartment door around 7:45 p.m. and asked for "G." He told them no one by that name lived in the apartment and shut the door.

Three minutes later, police said, the same men knocked on the door again, this time wearing pantyhose on their heads and armed with a handgun.

The victim handed over his wallet, ID cards and $38 in cash, and the men fled in an unknown direction.

About an hour later, detectives on patrol nearby said they spotted two men who matched the description of the armed robbers.

Police said one of the men, 21-year-old Channyng Easley, had a handgun in his waistband, along with pantyhose, a pair of handcuffs and the victim's wallet.

His companion, 30-year-old Al-Hakiem Towns, had $38 in cash in the same denomination the victim had reported giving the robbers, according to police.

Easley and Towns were arrested and were each booked on one count of armed robbery and one count of first-degree burglary.
