CANARSIE, Brooklyn (WABC) --
A teacher in Brooklyn is due in court Thursday to face charges after he allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old student inside the school's bathroom.

According to police, they have text messages as evidence of the encounters between 34-year-old Andre Braddy and the male student. Police allege this was going on for at least a month.

Braddy was an 8th grade mathematics and advanced algebra teacher at the Lenox Academy, PS 235 in Canarsie since September 2015.

Authorities say the teen alerted his parents to the encounters with the teacher and the parents called police, which led to the arrest.

A Brooklyn math teacher has been arrested for sexually abusing a 15-year-old student, police and sources said Wednesday.

Andre Braddy, a 34-year-old teacher at PS 235 in East Flatbush, allegedly had at least one sexual encounter with the teenage boy within the last month, sources told The Post.

The inappropriate relationship came to light after the boy told a parent about the incident, sources said.

Braddy faces a slew of charges, including sex abuse, acting in a manner injurious to a child, and multiple counts of criminal sex act.

A former Brooklyn educator has admitted to sexually abusing a 14-year-old student on seven separate occasions while on school grounds.

Andre Braddy, a once-beloved teacher at the Lenox Academy middle school in Canarsie, pleaded guilty Wednesday to 14 felonies for the sickening conduct, including criminal sex act in the second-degree and promoting a sexual performance of a child.

The 35-year-old admitted to each act before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Jill Konvisor, who offered him four years behind bars in exchange for the plea — over the objection of prosecutors, who wanted him to serve at least five.

“This is a case which involves a 14-year-old child being sexually assaulted on seven different occasions in a school building during school hours,” Assistant DA Bridget Brodzinski said as she opposed the deal. “This defendant was in a position of trust with a student and had a sexual relationship with a minor.”

Yet Konvisor said this was the ex-teacher’s first contact with the criminal justice system, adding her offer was not “inappropriate.” He’d faced up to seven years in prison if convicted at trial.

“Mr. Braddy, who has admitted his guilt, wants to move forward with his life,” the judge said.

As part of the plea, Braddy will also be subject to five years of post-release supervision.

Braddy abused the student, whose name is being withheld by The Post, myriad times between March 19 and April 20, 2018. The illicit contact occurred in classrooms and the school bathroom, according to court records.

The ex-teacher was arrested after the boy told his mother, who found sexually explicit messages between the two on her son’s phone.

Braddy is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 22.

A Brooklyn middle school teacher, who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year-old student multiple times on school grounds, was sentenced to four years behind bars Thursday.

Andre Braddy, 35, who formerly taught math at the Lenox Academy in Canarsie, took a plea deal last month in which he copped to 14 felonies, including criminal sex act in the second degree and promoting a sexual performance of a child.

Before Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge Jill Konsiver delivered her sentence to the disgraced educator, the victim’s father read a statement to the court, saying the family “can never forget what happened.”

“I would like you to know that my family is deeply mentally hurt by his actions, for what he did to our son,” the father said. “We were disturbed by the choices you made as an educator, as a person, as a man.”

Braddy, who came to court dressed in a white T-shirt and black track pants, mostly kept his head down while the father read the statement.

According to court documents, Braddy had inappropriate contact with the victim, whose name and whose father’s name are being withheld by The Post, in the school bathroom and in classrooms.

Braddy’s sickening acts, which occurred between March 19, 2018, and April 20, 2018, came to light after the victim’s mother discovered text messages between her son and the teacher.

Prosecutors had pushed for Braddy to get a five-year sentence, but Konsiver credited Braddy for the fact that he pleaded guilty to his crimes and that he has no prior criminal history.

Kenneth Montgomery, Braddy’s attorney, declined to comment on the sentence.
