Parents of 1-Year-Old Arrested After the Child and 15 Pounds of Marijuana Are Found

A Tuesday afternoon call for Central Precinct officers to check on a one-year-old child who had been left alone inside a short-term rental at the Mint House on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard led to the discovery of the baby along with 15 pounds of marijuana, a loaded Glock pistol and more than $17,000 cash.
The parents of the child, who showed up as officers investigated the scene, were arrested.
The father, Dsanto Hoskin, 19, of Nashville, is charged with child neglect, child endangerment, possession of marijuana for resale, gun possession in the commission of a dangerous felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia for the digital scales and marijuana packaging supplies found inside.
The mother, Janae Snell, 18, of Madison, is charged with child neglect and child endangerment.
Officers were called to the location by Mint House staff who found the child alone when they went to clean the unit. The odor of marijuana was apparent when officers arrived. During a protective sweep, several large bags of marijuana were located in a closet. The scales and packaging materials were in plain view. Hoskin claimed the marijuana, gun and related materials were his.
Hoskin is jailed in lieu of $62,500 bond. Snell is being held in lieu of $12,500 bond. As a precaution, their child was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital to be checked out. The Department of Children’s Services was called to make custody arrangements.
