Byron Williams, 36, of Hartford drove a second vehicle behind the victim’s car, which a third person drove to Saint Francis Hospital Nov. 4, 2023, the warrant said.

Kendell Jones, 52, was found in the back seat of his car at the hospital. Medical staff tried to help him but he was pronounced dead at 3:44 a.m., the warrant said.

With help from U.S. marshals and state troopers, Hartford police arrested Williams at a Cabot Street home in the city Thursday and charged him with murder. He was held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Hartford Correctional Center Friday, prison records show.

Surveillance video, cellphone data and interviews led detectives to Williams, according to the warrant, which doesn’t give a motive for the stabbing.
