ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI – A 20-year-old mother was caught on camera assaulting a woman at a Kroger in St. Clair Shores.
Fox 2 in Detroit reported the incident occurred in the self-checkout area of the store on 9 Mile and Harper Avenue on Tuesday when the Shelby Pelham walked up to the clerk, a 49-year-old woman, and hit her in the face.
The clerk was knocked to the ground unconscious and suffered a head injury, according to the TV station.
The incident was captured on Kroger’s security cameras.
According to the TV station, the two women began exchanging words after Pelham’s Bridge card allegedly did not have enough money to cover her items.
Pelham’s 1-year-old daughter was seated in the shopping cart as the assault unfolded, the TV station reported.
Police responed to the scene and arrested Pelham, who is being charged with aggravated assault, police said.
