Black Franklin County elections director William A. Anthony Jr. charged with theft in office
Franklin County’s elections director and a former employee have been indicted for theft in office.
Executive Director William A. Anthony Jr. and former fiscal officer Brenna Umbstaetter both face felony counts of tampering with documents and theft in office after an investigation by Ohio Auditor Dave Yost’s office.
Umbstaetter, who resigned from her position in August 2015 after an internal investigation into misuse of time, is accused of collecting more than $7,500 that she didn’t earn. Anthony is accused of signing off on those time cards even though he knew they were inaccurate.
