Man charged with murder in shooting over bicycles

A man has been accused of fatally shooting another man after an argument over boys' bicycles.
Terry Brown, 30, was charged with second-degree murder on Friday in the death of Tod
d Copeland.
According to a criminal complaint, Copeland's son had traded bicycles with a friend earlier this week, but the trade went bad when the son told Copeland that a man had tried to take his bike.
Copeland, 28, was at a house in Minneapolis' Hawthorne neighb
orhood on Wednesday night when a small group of men came to confront him, the complaint said.
In the midst of the posturing and after being punched, Copeland threatened to get a gun and settle the matter. Before he could make good on his threat, Brown allegedly drew a handgun and fired up to eight shots, killing Copeland and injuring another man, according to the charge filed in Hennepin County District Court.
Brown is being held in the Hennepin County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
