The Met Human Trafficking Team targeted a Turkish gang after a 22-year-old Lithuanian victim told police about the men running a series of "trafficker friendly" brothels.

She was duped into coming to the UK with the promise of a job but on arrival was raped, assaulted and forced to work as a prostitute.

Whilst being forced to work at a brothel run by the gang in Cricketfield Road, Clapton, London E5 in April 2006 she escaped and went to Ealing police station.

Police investigations found the brothel had then moved to Luton where in one night alone more than 50 men visited. Police identified two men as controlling the brothel.

On 13 December 2007 police from the Met and Bedfordshire Constabulary raided the brothel and arrested the men.

Almost a month later, on 11 January 2008, a separate investigation started after another victim called police to report that a man had attacked her. The Met's Human Trafficking Team took on the investigation when she told police that she had been trafficked into the UK from her home country of Slovakia in September 2006 when she was 16-years-old.

She again was duped into coming to the UK with the promise of bar work. She was a 16 year old virgin when she arrived in the UK but was raped, assaulted, threatened with a gun and forced to work as a prostitute. She was moved to different locations and sold on between brothels.

She managed to run away in January 2008 but was tracked down by her pimp who forced his way into the flat, knocking her head against the wall and kicking her in the ribs. She collapsed unconscious, however her friend had managed to call the police.

Police arrested the defendants on various dates between December 2007 and May 2008. The two cases were joined up by police and the prosecution, when it became apparent that there was cross over between the suspects, and put before Southwark Crown Court.

Before you get to excited at the jail term it works out to an average of just 8.6 years each at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel
