A judge fined two attorneys representing three former Carson High School football players accused of raping a UCLA student. Jamar Dawson, DeShawn Stringer and Chuwan Anthony, all 17, are accused of raping a UCLA student in her dormitory during a school-sponsored trip to the Westwood campus.

Second jury "dreadlocks" in UCLA rape case

LOS ANGELES A second jury has deadlocked in the case of a 19-year-old man charged with raping a U-C-L-A student in her dormitory room.

The judge declared a mistrial today after the panelists said they could not reach a verdict in the case of Deshawn Stringer.

The first jury deadlocked in May on the rape charge against Stringer. In that trial, Stringer was convicted on a separate misdemeanor charge of sexual battery involving a different U-C-L-A student.

Charges against two other teens were dismissed after the first trial.

Prosecutors argued that the men, who were students at Carson High School, attacked the woman in her dorm room in 2002 after they left a group that was touring the campus.

The three contended th
e woman invited them into her dorm room and initiated the sexual encounters.
