Baltimore man sentenced to life in prison for strangling two women
Thursday, May 12th 2022
BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Baltimore man pleaded guilty this week to strangling two women who he had met for sex using an online app, the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office said.
Prosecutors said that Christopher Tyson, 23, will receive a life sentence for the deaths of 37-year-old Ashley Lambert and 21-year-old Denita Barrett in March of 2021.
Police said Barrett was found dead just after midnight on March 21, 2021, inside her home in the 2400 block of Annapolis Road in South Baltimore's Westport section. Tyson told prosecutors that he and Barrett had arranged to meet for sex and at some point, they got into an argument. Tyson said he placed Barrett into a choke hold, eventually killing her.
Around 11:30 p.m. on March 28, 2021, police found Lambert dead inside a room at the Deluxe Plaza Motel in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway in East Baltimore. Tyson told investigators that he arranged to meet Lambert at the hotel for sex. The pair got into a dispute and, like Barrett, he choked Lambert to death. Video from the motel's security camera showed that Tyson was at the hotel at the time of Lambert's death.
Family members of the victims testified at Tyson's hearing. Barrett's sister said Denita was the mother of two young children. The sister said the children "look so much like their mother that it makes me cry whenever I see them."
Lambert's friends said Lambert was the mother of four children and loved traveling to West Virginia and Ocean City.
Tyson is currently being held at the Maryland Reception, Diagnostic and Classification Center in Baltimore. Tyson was also charged with a rape that happened on April 24, 2021, about a month after the deaths of his two victims. He still awaiting trial in that case.
