LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - On Tuesday, the Bizzy Bee Mart located on Lee Road 240 in Smiths Alabama, was the scene of a robbery and attempted rape.
The sheriff's office tells us a 20 year-old Cordero Smith of Phenix City has been charged with one count of robbery and attempted rape.
The clerk told investigators, as she closing the store, a black male wearing a mask forced her into the back of the business.
She adds the robber took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and forced her to the floor and attempted to rape her before fleeing.
When sheriff's arrived on the scene, they started searching the area for the suspect. That's when they came across a vehicle with two men inside-- one being Smith matching the robber's description.
Smith is currently in the Lee County Detention Facility on $60,000 bond.
Twenty-year-old Melvin Williams of Phenix City was the driver of the car and was arrested and charged with one count of marijuana possession. He's also being held in the Lee County Detention facility, but on $1000 bond.
Investigations say the clerk was not injured during the robbery and attempted rape.
